i agree with most but the cleaver... i personally would have ranked it as a very high b tier or an a tier weapon... it lasts a long time and doesn't stick like the knife does...

I agree. If you're looking for great damage and durability w/o the chance of randomly stucking your weapon on a zombie, then the cleaver becomes the best short blade. But pretty much every short blade player only focuses on the jaw stab insta-kill. That's why screwdrivers (good durability and easy to find on zombies) and hunting knives (great durability, easy to come by after 3 weeks and high damage in case you whiffed the jaw stab) are considered better for them. Personally, i prefer cleavers, too

i play with insanely low loots and -75% less loots mod makes me use any weapon i could find basically i appreciate B tier, anything above A tier is a godsend it feels much more like actual survival than grind and chores dude, you look exactly like you sound in a good way of course. calm, collected, chill looooong time fan, good to see you

@@estreat1n9 yes, as less as the game allows it except for books, i set that to be abundant with sprinter zombies and horde night anything easier than that is too.. boring for me SPOILER ALERT: this may ruin your game slower than sprinter zombies will never be able to catch you if you just walk walk everywhere everytime all the time through zeds, next to zeds, in between zeds don't matter at all you could never kill a single zed, easy herd them up and lead them to woods and never see them again you don't even need any weapons, zed's numbers don't matter for small groups, just go around a house or block and you're good once you know these facts, the game becomes soooo easy it's not a survival anymore if zeds aren't sprinting

@@estreat1n9 sounds fun times increasing difficulty as you get better is key to keep things interesting should be more fun with your pals too i recommend you put vaccine zombie mod in somebody will get infected and the flow gets interrupted a lot about 1 in 5000 spawn chance with 50% chance to have vaccine would be nice it'll give hope/purpose to those who get infected it's no fun giving up as soon as the one who gets infected just gives up searching for vaccine zed is like a fun mission

The crowbar is versatile as well, it can be used one OR two handed and yet always levels long blunt. So you can level long blunt as you channel your inner loot goblin.

Hey CA, the Spear with Screwdriver attachment is probably the best spear combo weapon. It is the third best spear with attachments after the hunting knife and machete attachments. I think it is the best spear combo because screwdrivers are easy to find, putting it on the spear makes it a better weapon, and taking machetes off spears gives you more chances to level up your long blade.

stone axe is one of the better weapons in the game IMO. Once you get some axe skill and maintenance the durability isn't too bad to deal with. It only weighs 1.2 so you can swing it forever without getting tired compared to 3 weight on normal axe. When you get good weapon skills you're basically 1 shotting everything anyway so the slightly more damage from normal axe doesn't matter. Lead pipe is literally just a better version of the night stick. More damage, more crit change, and same durability.

Stone axe is *the* axe in the game. Having only 1.2 encumberence but with damage on par with hand axe, it *is* the weapon to go against large hordes. Plus, it is readily available in unlimited quantities nearly everywhere (bar dense urban environment, whrere sticks can be hard to come by).

Yo Cromulent, trick with machete spears is that when you take the machete off the spear, it resets the repair amount on it to 0, so you can repair it forever. It’s resource intensive to be sure, and you do really need two so once one gets low you can swap them; but once you’re settled and have a bunch of materials for crafting it ends up being my go to weapon for sweep and clears.

Plank and spiked plank are completely serviceable for very rare loot playthroughs, particularly if you can trick the zombies into destroying doors for you. Decent damage, good range, can kill a small group

S tier is crowbar, machete and spear machete (due to the infinite repair "bug") and garden fork. Axe is A tier only for the utility as it is one of the biggest endurance traps in the game.

the spear machete is an even bigger endurance trap (3.7 weight). Crowbars are also endurance traps. But for those two, it is not a problem? (It really isn't a problem btw., nor is it a problem for the Axe) Are you sure that you don't just try to bash axes for the sake of bashing them?

I have never used the snow shovel, just out of my own disinterest in it, no idea why. Other than that and my personal affinity towards wrench-ing some zombies, I was agreeing all the way down the list!

The wiki says the maximium damage is 1.9, and axe maximium damage is 2.0, but this is wiki based, But its good, cuz it deals good damage, takes away low stamina and has long range, but they are kinda rare and dont last too much.

I'm pretty certain the pickaxe tires you out to the same extent as the fire axe, it's the same weight and swing speed but with higher range and damage.

The wood axe also loses durability very quickly in combat, but when cutting trees it lasts a very long time.

Machetes are better than katanas. Due to a bug, once you make machetes into spears (put machete spears into S for this reason, too), you can repair the spears, uncraft them and you get the repaired machete with a resetted repair count

I agree with most of this but I think meat cleaver in A since it can hit multiple zombies just like the handaxe with multi-hit enabled and pickaxe in S instead of A because its honestly probably the most fun/powerful weapon if you're running lumberjack and with multi-hit swing it can reliably hit 3 zombies because the arc for it is huge. I play with multi-hit swings enabled a lot though so that is why I like those weapons more.

I carry a hand axe and a fire axe. I use handaxe for small numbers of zombies for its high dps and low stamina cost, and I feel like it raises my axe skill faster. I switch to my fireaxe when there are 3+ zombies

Normal spear is potentially S tier. You need to grind up your maintenance, carpentry and spear skill. Carpentry affects the durability of the spear when you make it. With high levels in those skills you can consistently oneshot zombies, its a long range weapon, low stamina cost, and an amazing swing speed. IMHO if you meet those requirements it is the best weapon in the game, capable of killing faster than the katana and from a safer range. Spears with stuff stuck onto them do more damage at higher stamina cost, and have better durability, making them better for when you are trying to train your spear skill. Garden fork as well. Spears really are the key to longterm longevity so its worth the setup

@@user-glg20 Indeed. Although that said I've discovered the hunting knife can kill as fast with much lower fatigue cost. you probably need high nimble to use it safely though, and even then I think its risky XD

Hand axe is a worthless weapon (and a worthless tool, as even chopping trees with it is worse than with stone axe). It has 2.0 enc., short reach and damage of a stone axe for 80% more endurence cost… Its only saving grace is it being one-handed. Do yourself a favor, ditch a hand axe. If you really want a one-handed side arm, carry a hunting knife instead in a fanny pack.

@@XelexMirror It's pretty bad as a tool, but it is a weapon first and foremost, being able to use it to cut trees is just a questionable bonus. It has a higher base damage than the hunting knife, but a lower crit damage, making it more efficient at lower levels than the knife. At higher levels it consistently oneshots, though at higher fatigue cost than the knife, it is still a powerful weapon at all levels. Additionally it uses the axe skills, meaning you can switch between fire axe or hand axe depending on the situation and what you have on hand. Pickaxe and woodaxe are still alright as weapons if you don't have a hand or fire axe. Don't get me wrong, I am on team hunting knife. I tend to use spears until my nimble and maintenance are level 5+, then swap to hunting knives as they are the only weapon that allow me to kill forever without resting, and are much lighter than spears while being just as renewable when you can oneshot with it. But, the hand axe is a weapon with it's own niche that suits lumberjacks, firefighters and brawlers very well

All im saying is, when i start a game and go to the kitchen and see a rolling pin, i get happy, cause it means im gonna live to find a better weapon. The rolling pin in my opinion is the best non weapon, weapon. It works great until you find a metal pipe or bar

Machete spears are a devastating weapon. a stronger less durable god fork. I would not recommend making them below level 6 spear and maintenance, as they will break too quickly. however, I find regular glue is a good use on this item, as I save all my wood glue for my god forks.

I think you did right with metal pipe / bar. My reasoning is they sit on the back slot rather than the belt. A side-arm quality weapon that takes my primary weapon's holster slot? Hard pass past the early game. B-tier is exactly where I'd put them. ;)

I think the shovel and sledge should be swapped. Or at the very least they are both A. Both slow attacks but sledgehammer opens up an entire world of creating impenitrable fortresses with no stair access, breaking through locked doors to access guns, yadda yadda. Meanwhile the shovel has a SLOW attack speed which if you are exhausted basically takes 3 seconds to make 1 swing. And it's only meta assistance is burying dead bodies and digging furrows. You can make furrows with your hands, injure your hands, bandage them, free 1stAid xp and I can still make the farming stuff.

At high levels, Shovels are among the best weapons in the entire game. They are insanely stamina efficient and very safe to use due to their ridiculous range (which makes up for the slower attack speed as you can get extra hits in before having to reposition). Also, their high damage makes up for the low attack speed. Only downside is that they are pretty fragile at lower levels so you kinda want to level up long blunt (and maintenance) a bit first, making the spiked basebal bat the better "long blunt power weapon" during the earlygame. But seriously, it is insane how slept on shovels are in this game sometimes. Additionally, you can actually increase your attack speed by holding down the attack button and them spamming spacebar (doesn't work for spears because this tech is based on animation speed and that doesn't really work out for spears). If you make use of that, it essentially eliminated the only weakness of the shovel (besides its limited durability).

Hand Axe is S tier just for the fact that it's the best one handed weapon in the game for a belt slot. Meat cleaver should be higher, B or low A. It's practically a slightly (but very slightly) worse hand axe using short blade instead of axe skills. It does break down doors and chop down trees. Or more accurately : meat cleaver has half the damage of an hand axe for half the weight. We can swing this infinitely.

Oh hey! Nice to see you, Crom! Good list in general. As a blunt user, I appreciate you putting nightstick and crowbar in S. Personally, I'd put all the basic, non-kitchen short blunt in B tier, iron and lead pipes in A, and nightstick in S (rankings relative to placement within the category; i.e. best automatically gets S grade).

Now it would make long blade real good if ya could make a bokken or wooden sword but it requires like carpentry 6 to do. also if you could get makeshift machettes with ductape and dissasembled lawnmowers

Main problem with Axes is... they are almost 'too good to use'. Due to the limited number of them if you're playing long term the supply of axes becomes a problem. Yes you can make stone axes - but my goodness they are pretty poor in comparison for chopping wood. Also heavy, so you need a beefy character to carry one around without sacrificing carry weight. But for pure killing power, definitely S tier. Getting a Fireaxe early on is a godsend.

Stone axe and hammer are weapons, I have done dozens of runs by just foraging for them And quitar? I think it's a bit higher then a pen as a weapon! :D

Fire Axe (that red one). It is universal: very good as a tool (to chop trees) and as weapon (high damage, quite durable). IMHO the only disadvantage is high energy consumption - after fight with group of 15-20 zombies your character can get tired. And it is quite rare (best places to find them are fire stations)

Stone axe is the best combat axe overall. Great reach, damage, quite lightweight and readily available everywhere. Get yourself 10 of those and massacre hundreds of zombies without breaking a sweat.

wood axes have an effective weight of 9 when swung. Sledge hammers have an effective weight of "yes" when swung. They both effectively weigh the same: "too much".

Hm, seeing you destroys the mental image I had in my head which is kind of taking away the mystery. Anyway, I always liked your voice and that hasn't changed, so who cares! About weapon preferences, I am a spear lover. Good range and damage, I also enjoy that it has two different attacks and that you can aim for the insta-kill at the right distance against isolated zombies. All of this makes encounters more interesting. And while it breaks so easy I can just make tons of new ones. You will literally never run out of resources to craft new spears. Other than that I like the baseball bat and machete but they are so rare that I am always afraid to actually use them. I got lucky on my first serious run and found a machete in the locker of my starting house! But I totally forgot about durability being an issue and when it finally broke after killing the 140th zombie I turned towards base. On the way I wanted to grab something to eat from a house I already freed of zombies but actually never entered ... and when I did I set off my first alarm. All of this made me so afraid of using good weapons that I now stick to (pun intended) spears.

Puts stone axe below a frying pan. Claims himself an "Axe Player". Seriously? The best axe in the game in the garbage bin? Also, pickaxe is lower than a regular axe? Really? Stat-wise pickaxe is better than a fire axe, plain and simple. Granted, it is much hader to come by and for extended survival (past first month) any weapon not spawning in zombies becomes virtually nonexistent, so pickaxe can be considered worse for that matter. But based on the fact that easily available stone axe was put in the dumpster while fire axe (spawinig in a Z once in a blue moon) was glorified to the S tier, clearly, availability was not a factor in his judgement. Hammer is below nightstick… WTF?! Apparently to ths expert having 10% more damage for 50% more endurence drain is a good tradeoff… Basically all short blunt weapons are below screwdriver… Nuff said. Crafted spear below nightstick. Well… As much as I despise spears in general, that raw damage, availability and ability to one-shot a zombie no matter what (even at str. 0, weary, exhausetd and with injured hand) *is* a force to be reckoned with. Nightstick can not simply give that.

totally inaccurate comparison. Have you ever played this game? For example: Hunting knife (HK) is equal to machete? HK is very ineffective as weapon. It only works good against lone zombie (when you stab them from behind). But if you have to fight against 3+ zombies simultaneously then it is totally ineffective. From other side with machete you can simultaneously fight against 6,7,8 and even more zombies with no fear you will be overwhelmed if you still have empty space behind your back. HK is better as a tool to craft spear which is much better than HK as weapon.

Have you ever actually played on knives? HK is a weapon of mass destruction. Spawning like crazy, having raw damage of a hammer (and a far greater DPS thanks to immensely fast swing), not draining endurence *whatsoever* … Hunting knife obliterates hordes non-stop on higher levels, while machete will cause exhaustion very quickly.

U cannot put machete in A tier and call this list decent. This is a one handed repairable higher damage, less tiring weapon than the crowbar, and its durability is barely under. Hunting knife got an A too while its the best shortblade weapon, and u put the police stick S. Sigh.

Wood axe has a hidden 3x endurence loss multiplier and does not spawn in zombies at all (so it is just a trophy weapon). No, wood axe is a terrible choice.
