The movie was not successful initially. It was forced down our throats by Turner running it every Christmas. It's like when a bad song becomes popular because a radio station runs it all the time. That doesn't make it a classic. You've been tricked. It's the Macarena of Christmas movies.

If a "bad song" becomes popular because people listen to it than clearly people dont agree its a bad song. Nobody likes a song just because its played on the radio lol.

I understand Die Hard not being considered a 'traditional' Christmas movie but it's still a Christmas movie if nothing more than lots of people make an effort to watch it every Christmas. Die Hard is a Christmas movie.... It takes place during Christmas, and the entire movie is based around John McClane saving his family from terrorists at a Christmas party. Is it a traditional Christmas movie? no, its not. But even as much as I dislike Bruce Willis, which believe you me, I really do, I can't ignore it being a good movie, or a Christmas movie. But the real tragedy is calling Christmas with the Kranks funny. It was horribly written, the jokes don't play out, and its literally the only movie, and I've seen some stinkers that I've left the theater and actively asked for my money back. Looking at the metacritic score, which I don't advise people do (make your own decisions whether you like something or not), but it got a 5 percent approval... out of 140 reviews. And here's the worst part.... it was written by the guy who produced Home Alone.... and the first 2 Harry Potter movies.... and wrote both Goonies and Gremlins.... How you go from those, which are considered some of the best films in the industry to..... that.... I don't know. Especially considering some of the cast.
