My top 3: 1. The Dark knight rises (this epic was the last movie I watched with my Dad when he was alive earlier this year.) 2. The Dark Knight 3. Batman Begins I had the honor of watching these three gems again with my parents. This is the greatest movie trilogy of all time. Nolan is a genius and masterclass filmmaker. 🙏👏

Amazing episode guys! I completely agree with James I think Oppenheimer is 100% the magnum opus of Christopher Nolan’s career thus far. While The Dark Knight will forever be my favorite film of his, Oppenheimer was a truly special film that I won’t ever forget. Such an incredibly fascinating story told by such an incredible filmmaker!

There are just so many films and so many styles to enjoy that having four Nolan films in your top 10 is proof of narrow taste. For something completely different to Nolan, you should check out Bergman, like Autumn Sonata and Wild Strawberries

So I gotta say this only because it was the only Nolan movie I got to see… first showing…. At midnight, the only seats available pre-ordering tickets were the first row… I brought a blanket just straight up laid on the floor EPIC… the whole theater was whooping, hollering, screaming…. BEST OPENING MOVIE EXPERIENCE EVER (& I’ve been to quite a few) 😅 The Dark knight. ✅ I then proceeded to go see it 3 more times in theater & once at our large drive in which was AAAAmazing. I wish I could have seen all of these opening. But you haven’t had a “life changing experience” 😂 as you say in the theater until you see a movie with a group of people reacting with you 👏🏻 Also real quick, I’m so glad I found you guys wish I found you sooner, & because surgery I couldn’t see Oppenheimer in it’s best format 😢 I wonder if we can get theaters to reshow it at some point!

I rolled my eyes when I heard you say that Nolan is almost on the level as Kubrick. I think 2001 might be the best movie ever, but it's the only Kubrick film I've seen that I even remotely enjoy. But take it with a grain of salt, because the only other Kubrick's I've seen are Clockwork Orange and Paths of Mid.

@raidersofthelostpodcast_ I totally respect it, and I'm just saying that from what I've seen, I'm not a fan. Definitely need a rewatch on Paths of Glory, it just really bored the shit out of me to be honest. But Clockwork Orange I found to just be a lot of shock value, as a film it didn't impress me outside of a few really iconic scenes. Like the theatre scene was really awesome, not sure if I should be calling it awesome but it has been the 1 scene that has really stuck with me. I do want to watch his other films that everyone adores though, I'm sure I'll like him more the more I see from him.

Christopher Nolan is in the top 5 most overrated directors of all time for me. I only really like four of his films. Most of his movies are too convoluted and exposition-heavy and think they are way smarter than they actually are. Pretentious is a word that's used too much but I think it sort of works with Nolan. People have even said that he is today's Stanley Kubrick which is absolutely laughable. Nolan is a hack compared to Kubrick. 1. MEMENTO - 10/10 2. INCEPTION - 9/10 3. THE DARK KNIGHT - 9/10 4.
