John, it's the only derby I know where Police man all the bridges on the Motorway (M65) to stop home fans throwing bricks and missiles at the away coaches in either direction. As an away fan you have to go to your home club ground prior to the game, be allocated a coach and coached in to opposition territory 4 busses at a time with god knows how many Lancashire Police as escorts! Ewood has a good away end and is nearer the motorway but at Burnley its like you're going into Fort Knox! I've been to 3 PNE v Pool derbies and they are good but nowt like Rovers v Burnley!

@@tommyrouse6448 I used to work with a guy who was a Wednesday supporter and every time Sheffield United were mentioned his eyes used to glaze over and he would go into a cold sweat. I have no doubt that the Sheffield derby is a fierce rivalry. I live in Birmingham and Villa and the Blues genuinely hate each other. But the Old Firm in Glasgow is more than just a football rivalry, it's religious, political and nationalistic thing. Hatred and bigotry that is seen as normal behaviour in Scotland is all focused on a sporting event that is used as a means of keeping communities divided. A mate of mine, who is a Leeds fan went to a Old Firm game in the 70's and still says it is the most scared he has ever been and he was a RM Commando in the Falklands War.

Pool Preston is bad and your rite very underrated, and if you know you know, people have died with this one, no pool thankfully also Deepdale set fire by pool fans twice in the 80s, got to agree with you with steel City Derby I hanged out years ago with a Wednesday top lad, and was with them smashing a united pub not a match day, the hatred for this one is immense, also been about blues fans and them and villa is always near enough a warzone on a match day, utmp.

My take on it - firstly I think your views have to be tempered by the fact you are very young, plus you live up North, and so your opinion of who has great fans is based on what you have seen locally as it were. Good example is saying Stoke have a good away following - try telling that to older guys down South who probably won't have seen any angry Stoke fans travelling south of Birmingham, similar story with Blackburn Rovers (genuine question, do they actually have any hooligans ?), Port Vale and so on. Will agree with your opinion on Sheffield, North East, South Wales, Brum, Bristol (went off the boil when Rovers played in Bath I believe) derbies, and of course Hammers Millwall with legendary tales of fearsome weaponry in the past. Interesting point for you - as a Blackpool fan, how many lads travel down South to places like Swindon, Oxford, Exeter etc, because your fans aren't rated down there really, similarly Rotherham, Carlisle and many others who couid probably muster a good little army locally, but never travel. Used to be said many years ago that Leicester were tasty at home but never travelled South, certainly not anywhere near London, so it really does depend on the criteria used when people talk of a well supported team.

North London Derby supposed to be in the hatred category considering violence between Arsenal and Spurs fans do something happens. Chelsea vs Arsenal: Underrated. Chelsea used to hate Arsenal the most in early/mid 2000s, but now Arsenal now is kind of meh after out of UCL for years. Chelsea vs Spurs: Loud. Definitely one of the reason Spurs hate Chelsea is Chelsea already won UCL twice, and Chelsea fans mocked Spurs with Champions of Europe chant.

I think hatred is a bit of a strong word to use for English derbies. If you want to see real hatred, you need to look at rivalries like Boca/River Plate, Rosario Central/Newell's Old Boys, Red Star/Partizan Belgrade, POAK/Aris Thessaloniki, Wisla Krakow/Cracovia and hundreds of others all over the world. With the exception of Celtic/ Rangers derbies in Western Europe are extreme dislike, not hatred.
