All Stars 9 doing non eliminations for a cast where (most) of the queens weren’t “jack of all trades” resulted in a mostly underwhelming season. I will say, you ranked Spain All Stars 1 higher than I would’ve. Yet you’ve kind of changed my mind about it. Credible list, especially coming from someone who watched all the seasons this year. Love your analyses about what went wrong with Thailand, UK and AS9. Totally agree! I disagree though about UKvsTW2. I think it ended in the same fate as GAS where they eventually crowned a Ru girl. Marina and Lagrande Dame made the season special and either of them shoulda been crowned. It looks sus that they got eliminated in the semis lipsync. I also just wished you included Canada 4 here instead of 5; or waited for Canada 5 to finish before releasing this video to really solidify the rankings. Also, I think for most of us who haven’t seen most of these franchises yet and are now planning to, the spoilers littered on this video was a bit of a bummer which could have been avoided. Finally, on Philippines, Mama Pao deserves some flowers too because I think she is the best host this year.

My personal list that nobody asked: Seasons that I enjoy: 1- Phillipines 3 2- España 4 3- Season 16 4- Uk 6 5- Mexico 2 6- Down under 4 7- France 3 ( I know that many people didn't like it, but i really enjoy it) 8- Canada vs The world 2 Seasons that I think were mid: 9/10th: Uk vs the world 2 and España all stars 1 ( I have the same mixed opinions for both of them) Seasons that I didn't care for: 11- Thailand 3 12 - All stars 9 Seasons that I think were bad: 13- Belgique 2 14- Global all stars 1 Unfinished: Canada 5 - I think it has great ideas, but not all the ideas land it. So i would rank this season for now in the mid category.

So MANY were said by the cast and judges in PH season 3 in tagalog that don’t have direct/exact translation in english which doesn’t always accurately portray the essence of the moment in the show. I wouldn’t necessarily call it mistranslation, there’s just certain words or phrases in tagalog that can’t be accurately translated in any other language and that’s just how it is. Regardless of this, international viewers still think that PH 3 is the best season of 2024. That’s when you know the cast set the bar too high.

⁠@@belakboyI think the flaw (as a non English country viewer) for me is the forced incorporation of two US queens on every season that’s don’t necessary need more screen time. I understand the marketing viewpoint but their run, most of the time, screams favoritism and on four vsTW season for now, they got three times in the top 4. What makes UKvsTW2 the best one for me is precisely by not getting them free passes. And that’s kinda ironic for me to say that because I love Mayhem and Scarlett but they were just not as good as the others. And that was just me talking about the US queens but I may have the same judgement for every English girl that are on those seasons (except UK girls in UK and CAN girls in CAN because the hosting country obviously needs the most amount of queen casted)

My other issue with CvTW2, in addition to to not pulling from enough countries, is that they didn’t pull from a wide enough array of US contestants. I still don’t think she should’ve won the ball, that last look was just a corset with fabric glued onto it (Misty deserved the win idc). Her high in the snatch game is laughable considering how bad she was in the first half and only started doing well after the pink phone rang (Norma was literally in the bottom for only doing well the first half). Overall I still think she did well and is a worthy finalist, but did she deserve to end up with the best track record of the season ? Absolutely not

It didn't help that the audio on Thailand 3 was GARBAGE!!!! Pangina was almost always either blowing out her mic or not even being picked up. Every Werkroom scene was just horrible to listen to and I don't understand how they could go so far backward in quality. Those queens all deserved better.

Among every other person in the comments, I absolutely ADORE DRPh season 3. And yes!! It is definitely the gold standard and can certainly serve as a blueprint for producers of other franchises (even the US). We have literally seen it been done before-as recently as Megami during the lipsync smack down, Silky with the game within a game twist, etc. I’m very optimistic that the US seasons are getting the hang of giving everyone a good storyline . S16 and 15 were really good stepping stones and I hope to see 17 follow suit!!

The only season I really didn't like was Global All Stars. It was a waste of talent! I liked the "vs The World" seasons but I'll only put it higher when I think it's possible for an ESL Queen to win. i think the issue with s16 was the finale tbh. had they done a live finale it would’ve made so much more sense as to why the editing was done the way it was done. but like… the editors knew who the top 2 was beforehand so it’s weird they decided to js have nymphia in the background. it would’ve been so much easier to excuse the editing if they did a live finale cus they could’ve js said nymphia pulled a sasha velour and it would’ve made so much more sense as a final product than what we got.

In defense of AS9 - I didn’t care about the stakes. To be fair, all drag race stakes aren’t that big of a deal to me, I care about the fashion and talent. And this season was DRIPPING in talent! If you’re looking for S5/6 drama, you’re not gonna get that. But that cast of queens (-1) was so enjoyable.

The case of the mishandled of production with Sagittaria is such an interesting case because I feel that it is really similar with series "The Idol". What I mean is that production and edit can change a piece of media so much but sometimes when some situations are so absurd that even when they give their most to change the discussion, to mask some situation they just cannot escape the reality that they are trying to mask. In españa all star 1 they tried everything like putting queens confessionals where they are telling Sagi to shut up, saying that she was better and wrong, I mean people were working in the editing room but it all just make Sagittaria's side more real. It made the others queens look like a bunch of bullies against Sagittaria. It looked more like they were trying to show how right Sagi was in that situation.

You're definitely right that Down Under 4 was a turning point for the franchise, and I think it's the best Down Under season so far. To me the best Snatch Game of the year it was Spain, not All Stars, but S4. The performances by Chloe Vittu, Vampirashian, Mariana Stars, Le Cocó and Megui Yeillow were amazing, five spectacular takes on the characters, it was funny, chaotic and memeable.

Regarding UK, I feel like they ALWAYS pick their top 2 and overly celebrate them throughout the season, Divina and Vivienne, Lawrence and Bimini, Cheddar and Danny, Ginger and Michael then finally La Voix and Kyran. Ironically the least favoured UK season, season 3, is the only season that doesn't do this.

I feel like there's a big elephant in the room when we're talking about France season 3. The season started out a little shaky, turned into a very enjoyable viewing experience, and then tripped and fell right at the finish line. Don't get me wrong, I love Le Filip and am very happy for her, but her winner storyline is maybe the worst we've ever seen. For most of the season, the judges didn't even seem to like her and the edit barely featured her beyond her funny quips every so often. I genuinely believe that if Ruby on the Nail or Lula Strega took the crown then this season would've been much higher on the list. Ruby had a Jinkx-esque run in the way that she was a very funny and charismatic queen whose crunchy fashion held her back, so the fact that she didn't win still has me baffled. I hope to see her on an All Stars asap because she has a crazy amount of star power.

I would really put Thailand 3 and possibly also CvsTW lower than AS9, because even though AS9 was disappointing in many ways, there was an insane amount of production value which made most of the episodes more watchable than they could be. I would also definitely put Season 16 higher, because even though i agree with the issues of Nymphia's winner edit, the fact that almost all queens got time to shine, got a storyline and are so memorable, is a testament to good production. Havent yet watched Mexico 2 but for me Season 16 is definitely in the top 5

As an Australian I'm a little sad Down Under 4 is so low for you, but I guess we down here have a lot more love for it due to the cultural nuances that finally felt right. Previously, it felt like the queens had to pander to Ru in their humour and references, and any time anyone did anything that was specifically AU/NZ referential or our humour, they'd get punished and sent home. With DRDU4, we finally had a proper celebration of our queens, by our queens, and for our audience. There was quite a few moments that made me truly gasp, the one that comes immediately to mind is the incredible choice of 'What About Me?' as a lipsync song - otherwise previously regarded as a working class 'bogan' country guy song - it's both wonderful as a melodramatic powerballad, but subversive in it's use in a queer environment. For me, this truly was one of the greatest seasons of Drag Race, and I'm super aware that this is a totally biased opinion, but as someone who has been desperate for DRDU to actually feel like it's respecting our queens and our culture, it's been a blessing. It also doesn't hurt that one of my real life friends was on the season, plus as a Melbournian, we've now won two seasons in a row 😅
