It's great to have someone who actually reviews retro sports games. I don't blame retro channels that skip over the sports games if it's not their thing - no value in that. But John is clearly a fan who can make some solid recommendations for the genre.

There are many sports games that have value and are fun today. The problem especially in the 16 bit era was that there were so many sports games being made. The ranking videos have made me go through and try to objectively look at these games. I have found a few this way that I respect even more now.

It seems, that Acclaim was in the 90s, what THQ was in the 2000s (I grew up with quite some THQ games back then, like Juiced 2, Spongebob Battle for Bikini Bottom and Spongebob the Movie on the PS2, Sonic Advance on GBA and Saints Row 2 on PS3).

Great video (I look forward to these ranking videos every week). Delighted to see True Lies get some love - it’s a great game and it’s definitely underrated. The first time I played it, I was expecting a poor movie tie-in, but I was pleasantly surprised to find a very well-crafted overhead run-and-gun. Excellent controls, cool weapons, and big stages. In fact, the game is huge (even though I’ve kept coming back to it over the last 20 years, I still haven’t completed it!).

I keep revisiting these lists to find games I want to pick up. Also my most hated Genesis game is that Aerosmith shooter.

I NEED to say this…. THANKS MAN for giving MKII an S, I thought I was the only one who definitely love this game, Am just tired of my friends saying “SNES version is far superior” and I understand why they like SNES version better but that doesn’t make GENESIS version a bad game. You won I lifetime subscriber my friend.

I really liked both Justice League Task Force & Konami's TMNT: Tournament Fighters on Genesis. But the absurd difficulty (especially of the latter!) made it hard to really get into.

for like 20 years I thought it was spelled "Akklaim" because of how they stylized it in their logo

Hangtime is my fav, even with the genesis version not being one of the better ports.

I remember renting WrestleMania the Arcade game for SNES, but then I played it at a friend's house who had a Genesis and it was better on the Genesis. I ended up owning the definitive edition of that game style and it was In Your House for PS1
