Aberration my lovely! I remember super breeding frogs for that map. They are effective there. I hope the MONARCHY on Ab would follow the vibe you guys had for Scorched. An outpost with missions going deeper.

My tierlist: S Tier: Aberration, Extinction A Tier: Genesis 1, Scorched, Genesis 2 B Tier: Ragnarok, The Center C Tier: The Island N/A (Haven't played enough, no specific order): Valguero, Crystal Isles, Lost Island, Fjordur. Both Genesis maps (specially Gen2) need a lot of QoL improvements and reworks, such as making them more solo friendly (reducing required missions and nerfing some of them, reworking federation tek armor to make early game more interesting + Gen2 in pvp sucks). I love the idea and setting of each one, but the issues are clearly there (comming from an official player, formerly pvp now pve who had to grind beta Master Controller either solo or just with 1 friend). Extinction needs some AI fixes to make the world events a lot more dynamic and less frustrating. You just can't have an event that's supposed to last 15-30 minutes last 1-3 hours because an enemy gets stuck so far away it you can't go look for it if you're solo because the OSD or Vein itself despawns (even with help, it adds a lot of extra wasted time). Other than that I love it. Scorched Ascended imo is almost perfect, hasn't lost any character at all for me (the opposite actually). All deathworms should drop guaranteed 5bp imo, and the new caves are cool but them not having artifacts kinda ruins the point. Aberration my beloved; almost perfect map, only thing I would change is buffing element production (10 element instead of 3 in charge nodes, Rockwell dropping element) and I would add a 4th cave to the surface to use the unused artifact (I kinda wish the surface was expanded a bit in ASA, maybe even make all the surfaces areas interconnected). I also hope they make the Rockewell speaking animation not as goofy lmao (ascension animation better gets changed because it's gonna be a lot more noticeable, considering it goes through the map and it had the outdated Extinction at the end). The Center: A lot better in ASA but yeah, it's lost most of it's ASE charm wich sucks a lot; now it's just a better Island + the pyromane was added with the map so yeah... The Island: Other than being nostalgic, it honestly doesn't have much going for it other than the tek cave. Traversing the map by land is a pain due to the insufferable ammount of trees blocking your dino and your view. Ragnarok: Really cool map, had a lot of fun it it but imo is overrated af. The dunes on the bottom right are lazy and uninteresting af if we don't take the caves into account, and they're basically just wasted space for the most part (the rest of the mao is great tho). The rest: I either haven't played them at all or not enough to give a rating, I just hope they don't get The Center treatment on ASA and just look like another generic The Island. Maybe now that the ASE DLC's are part of the main game, they could add stuff like the rock drake trenches on Valguero back.

lost island will always have a special place in my heart it's got everything a single player survivor could want: loads of room to explore, great roster of dinos, high levels, plenty of insane base locations, challenging caves, a really fun boss and of course, THE MONKEY SUIT behind that I'd have to put extinction cause even tho it's laggy asf it has unique gameplay and the potential to be the most strikingly gorgeous map in ASA fjordur is the best map that WC couldve chose to end ASE, it's another all-purpose map that i personally prefer less bc no bananagarmr and no desert and i liked scorched before it was cool, deserts are epic those are probably my top 4 i personally don't like ab that much cause there's so much stuff that's not there, its like the game railroads you down one path of playing the map and doesn't give you any alternatives but im willing to give it another chance in asa now that we have more creatures like yi and hopefully deinos will spawn there too like the modded ones in ASE did

Ultimately my favorite maps are Scorched Earth and Aberration. Scorcher earth has been my favourite since it came out, loved the weathers, the challenge and it has it's own personality. Aberration brought another challenge and was drastically different than other maps, love the underground vibe and I've always been fan of glowy shiny things, bioluminescence. Those two maps, even if they in a sense lack variety of biomes, don't need every biome in the existence to be amazing and that I think for me makes them one of the best maps in the game.

So, i haven't played some of the maps to a large degree. but here is my list, i'll have an unranked section though for maps i don't have enough time on S: Ragnarök, Aberration, Fjordur A: Extinction, The Center, Valguero B:Scorched Earth, Crystal isle, Genesis pt 2 C: The Island D: Genesis 1 unranked: Lost Island I haven't actually played gen 1 pretty much at all, but i've seen enough gameplay that I just don't like the concept. Gen 2 would easily be A tier if you unlocked resources for purchase based on the number of missions you've completed or by have X amount of each ranked completed. This could still let you skip a significant amount of grinding, but should balance it out a bit more. Loot crates should also improve based on the same metric. I think Crystal isles is a fantastic map, but it has its problems. For the most part I think most maps of have been done well and i'm hoping they improve them with ASA. That said, does anyone know what Veno means by character of the maps? I feel like scorched earth became significantly better than in ASE. I did see anything but improvements except the weather early on and lack of death worms.

Character is play on the feel of the map and uniqueness of it. Like scorched is better on ase but the ruins lost there uniqueness as they just seem copied and pasted from a set of stuff. The ruins cave is the biggest example. And same goes for the center. The lava island lost all it's character/charm and no longer feels like this burnt hostile landscape. Needs it's black sand

Seeing as the maps so far haven't been that mechanically different (SE sandstorms look kinda cool now I guess) I'm not in high hopes of this. But I would love to see them strip out the race missions from the overworld, revamp the gauntlets to work more like Survive the Ark, and for good measure give us something in the vein of CYOA or Code Red with a Gen 1 twist. Just for the love of God keep the Alpha MC requirement MOST of the missions, instead of ALL of them.

I don't think there is a bad map in Ark, some are worse than others but in the end i still would play them all.

I love rag but it gets boring really tho. But always had a connection to it cuz it was one of the first maps I played. But my favorite map is gonna have to be lost island. Had the best memories on that map when the rich people gave me a Rex and a voidworm on my first day lol. The lost island will always be my favourite.❤️

People like the map because of how huge it is and the fact you can get crops off the ground and not have to grind for them but ye i agree the map has nothing going for it if you play solo

my tier list (order does matter) s: aberration, genesis 1 ,genesis 2 a: extinction, fjordur, ragnarok, island, crystal isles c: valguero, lost island d: scorched f: the center here's my reasoning: for the center and scorched earth. with the center it's mainly because of how boring it was when all the other maps came out (i don't play asa btw) it was always so bland and never got any new creatures and with scorched i always hated that it never got an ascension (it used to be my least favorite even worse than the center) now that it has an ascension i find it to be just nostalgic to play and i still dont really like it. i love the harsh weather tho for valguero i love the deinonychus and the savannah area and its the only official map until fjordur that got aberration dino's, but i dont really play it often and dont have a connection to it lost island: at one point was my favorite map but its lost a lot of its charm (usually what happens when something new drops) i love the new creatures minus dinopithecus, they're way too common, but its like all the other mod maps basically, an island with a desert biome also having basically every creature from every map kinda ruins it for me i put nothing in b tier cuz i dont think anything fits that category ill go from worst to best since there's a lot in a crystal isles: gorgeous map, but i have barely any play time on it and thats probably what's keeping it from s tier because i mainly play the story maps, amazing nonetheless the island is just up there because of nostalgia, its a great first map for ark and im glad to have so many hours on it. im super stoked that it evolved in front of my eyes over the 7 years ive played, not much else to say ragnarok: ragnarok is the first map i ever played on my ps4. it's what boosted my ark addiction and such, i was so excited to play a map that wasnt the island (i played at my friends house before getting the game myself a bunch) fjordur.: not much to say just that i was so stoked to play since i had seen so many videos but played on console so i couldn't get mods extinction: was the perfect way to end the ark story, after being stunned that rockwell was the boss of aberration, i went back and read all the notes, made my extinction playthrough more enjoyable, especially when the one who waits notes were added to the previous story maps genesis 2: i actually like gen 1 more, but ill get to that later, gen 2 was the best way to end the story of ark itself once and for all, more about that on gen 1, i genuinely cried when journeys end started playing after i beat rockwell and looked back at all the memories i made in ark genesis 1: my second favorite map, i genuinely don't get all the hate it receives, i had so much fun playing it and getting genuinely challenged on single player (still trying for alpha master controller, only completed beta), it has my favorite tame, and the missions were a nice thing aside from just collect artifact kill boss, the only thing i dislike about gen 1 is the "can't build here" and that there's no explanation for why youre even in the simulation and there's no bridge between extinction and genesis the missions are unbelievably hard but that's why i like it aberration: need i even say anything for this?

Swap Ragnarok and Lost Island, and Gen 1 with Crystal Isles and you're looking a bit better. Though I'd still rate Gen1 and 2 more B tier. Gen 1 gets a lot of hate, and rightly so for some things; namely the "in-world" missions and no build zones. But you can't deny jump to a difficulty that's downright brutal at times and appreciate the effort that went into getting players to engage with it in different ways beyond tame breed, throw at the boss, end.

One thing I'm confused about is that Fjordur does the same thing Genesis Part 1 did and split up biomes via teleport. How come Genesis 1 is D, but Fjordur is S?

Gen 1 had all biomes in different areas to teleport to well fjordur had the main realm with basically every biome and then the 3 realms were like extras to explore. Also, gen 1 is horrible to build on with all the missions blocking so much of the map. The missions on Gen 1 are unbalanced and never got fixed.

Can someone help me. What’s a good map to get back into ark with. I played a ton of pve with friends in 2016 on the island and scorched. This is mainly going to be a single player but what is the best map to get me back without throwing me in the fire too much

I think normal Center its pretty boring, unlike Lost Island, it lacks its own boss/bosses, and unlike Valguero, it doesn't have their uniques creatures, to me its just The Island with better levels, i think it should've have own bosses and unique dinos, like, The Center has some amazing stuff like Skull Island, The Underworld and the Ice Castle, why don't implement pirate themed dinos bosses?
