If you liked the new movie Knock at the Cabin, you may be interested in knowing more about the writer of the original book. Paul Tremblay is one of the most talented horror authors writing today, and this is my ranking of all his books.

I know this may come as a cop out defense for pallbearers club. But I thought what was great about her writing in the margins, is when she chose not to chime in. There’s a few parts of the story where her silence was very loud. I viewed her comments/lack thereof as a whole literary device instead of just the individual comments. At the time of writing this I think I only have 3 of his books left. I’m a big fan of how he makes you flip flop between whether very real life bad scenarios are supernatural or rooted in reality. I thought a head full of ghosts did a great job exploring the similarities between possession and religion vs mental illness and over medication as well as the turbulence and destruction it wreaked on their family. Whether it was paranormal, a metaphor, or real life - the end result was the same and it was grim.

That's a fair interpretation of the gimmick for Pallbearers Club, it just still feels unsatisfying to me. I think there's a better way to that, such as have her leave lots of margin notes early when things are mostly normal, and then during a particularly big scene that paints her a certain way, THEN have her go silent. I felt like she was barely contributing most of the book.

Hi ...liked your vid. I haven't read PT yet, but own Cabin. Hope to get to it soon. SurSong sounds good. I will look for ghosts. Have you read John Gilstrap's Blue Fire --- that endng chilled me to the bone. Im getting myself together to read book 1 ... Crimson Phoenix. I was left speechless. Happy reading.

Nice! I hope you enjoy them as much as I do. I have not read Blue Fire but I'll look it up and see if I can add it to my ever-growing TBR 😅 Thanks for watching!

Thanks so much for this fantastic video! I'm currently reading Survivor Song, and really enjoying it. I want to read it faster but I want to take my time with it. I'm looking to read more from this author.

I actually loved the Mark Genevich books. My ranking would be: Cabin at the End of the World No Sleep Til Wonderland The Little Sleep Disappearance at Devil's Rock Head Full of Ghosts Pallbearer's Club I haven't read the other too. I couldn't get past how in Head Full of Ghosts Merry was looking back 15 years ago when she was watching River Monsters, which was only 5 years old when the book was published. The times didn't make sense to me🤷‍♀️

I don't recall the River Monsters line but stuff like that doesn't bother me at all. It's all fiction anyway, so I just roll with it. I have since reread The Little Sleep and I did enjoy it quite a bit, though I don't know if it would move up in my rankings at all. No Sleep Til Wonderland I still need to reread.

@@anotherbooktubechannel looking past the River Monsters time issue, I found Head Full of Ghosts enjoyable. But I just found Mark Genevich's character so entertaining, his books had to be near my top.

@@jessicaliktria3086 That's fair. You've reminded me I've been meaning to reread No Sleep Til Wonderland. I've gotta put it on my TBR for 2024

@@anotherbooktubechannel I have the remaining 3 Paul Tremblay books on my 2024 list. Aside from Pallbearer's Club, his books have been consistently good. I also will give him a lot of credit that all of his books are very different from each other, which is very hard for one author to pull off

It would be good if you could say something like spoiler alert before you spoil something that's happening in a book. And I am referring to the cabin at the end of the world and you spoiling the reason these strangers invaded the cabin. I have read the first third of the book and this has not been revealed yet, so thanks for spoiling it...

Hi there, my apologies if you felt spoiled by this information. However, I will point out that the description I give is just the actual plot synopsis. Whether you've gotten up to it or not in your reading, it's literally what the book is about. The reason for the home invasion is even mentioned in the trailer for the movie. There's still A LOT left in the book for you to enjoy, trust me. Thank you for watching

@@anotherbooktubechannel thanks for your reply. I haven't watched the trailer exactly for this reason. And if you read the synopsis of the book, this is not mentioned. Thanks anyway
