Regardless, here are a few additional facts: -Just before being executed, Kurten asked: "Tell me... after my head is chopped off, will I still be able to hear, at least for a moment, the sound of my own blood gushing from the stump of my neck? That would be the pleasure to end all pleasures" -Kurten claims to have first killed at the age of 9 when he pushed a school friend off a raft. A second classmate would attempt to save the drowning boy, but the pair both went ended up drowning. Though it was initially ruled as an accident by the autorities, Peter would later admit to his murderous intentions. -The terror this killing spree caused in Düsseldorf was so intense that the police not only received the 13,000 letters from the public, but during their investigations they also conducted over 9,000 interviews with the public, compiled a list of over 900,000 potential suspects, and actively pursued 2,650 different leads / clues. -Kürten earned the moniker "The Vampire of Düsseldorf" because he occasionally made attempts to drink the blood from his victims' wounds. A few things: 1. German Bratkartoffeln aren't just fried potatos, they are made with bacon, onion, maybe a little garlic, majoram, rosemary, caraway seeds and parsley for garnish. The spices are more of a personal thing, but onions and bacon are non negotiable, additionally, the potatos are usually cooked the day before, peeled and sliced into thick slices. 2. when you make Schnitzel, season your ingredients, put some salt and pepper on your meat and in your eggs for god's sake. 3. Schnitzel shouldn't be deep fried. You should use an amount of fat, so that you have to move your pan to get the fat flowing over the thing. This technique is why good Schnitzel has a wavy coating. 4. Use clarified butter (Butterschmalz) to fry your Schnitzel. 5. Wiener Schnitzel has to be made from veal, when you use other meat it is called Schnitzel Wiener Art.
