My Favorite main character from any Disney movie is Kuzco, I love how he goes from a Spoiled Prince who is basically a villain to the Best Disney Princess (on a serious note he literally is the funniest and most underrated main protagonist of any Disney movie, and somehow a miracle how you manage to love him at the end of the movie)

I'm so glad to see Alice ranked high on your list, I think her journey is one of the most unique for Disney characters. She demonstrates the inner struggle of deciding between what we know and what we feel, the lesson of sometimes finding out the hard way that following our heart's desires can get us lost, and only learning through our own experiences can we decide which path is truly best for us which is something no one else can plan out for us. I love that her story lays out why it's difficult to go with what we logically know we should do but still doing the opposite because we want to find out what happens if we take a chance. It's a very relatable trial and error that we all go through eventually

Out of all of the main characters in Disney movies, Kuzco and Stitch have the best character arcs IMO. I love most of the other Disney heroes, but the ones that I just said, they’re just so well written.

I feel like a lot of the Experimental era protagonists have the same or similar arcs. Jim Hawkins, Kuzco, Stitch and what's-his-name from Brother Bear were all selfish brats who had to learn a lesson in humility.

I think Mowgli is a very underrated protagonist. He's a very down-to-earth, realistic yet layered character that embodies the finality of childhood and the uncertainty of adulthood. He's very easy to sympathize with because we know the reason he's rebellious is because he's at odds with what he is and tries to find his identity by imitating other animals. And things get only worse when he learns he's being forced to leave the only home he's ever known and feels unloved and rejected as a result. Also, I think you missed the point of the ending. Mowgli didn't suddenly decide to go to the Man Village because of a beautiful girl. He did it because he had never seen another human before and felt a natural connection to his own kind. Notice how he's not really smitten by Shanti until they're at the entrance and she gives him the bedroom eyes. Until then, he only looks at her in amazement because of her likeness. And it is in that moment where he has an epiphany and realizes that what he feels for another human is something he can never feel for an animal. The reason why he can't live in the jungle is because the jungle has nothing to offer him. Human beings need more than food and companionship, we also need relatability, creative stimulation, work ethic and to feel bigger than ourselves. This is actually what the remake failed to understand. One of the reasons why the remake sucked.

He also feels like a actual boy of that age. Sometimes the writing on young children can be very inaccurate and they make them either too "precious" or too "adult". Mogli acts pretty realistically how a boy his age, in his situation, would act.

@@bethanywallace8575 Exactly. Which is why it kinda bothers me when people dismiss him as a bratty kid when they don't bother to understand how difficult the situation is for him. Mowgli is no brat. He is a spunky and genuinely nice kid. He's just very naïve and is in a very stressful situation, with his identity crisis, a tiger that threatens his life and being forced to leave the only home he's ever known.

Talking about the Jungle Book: I alway considered Baloo the main hero of the movie, with Baghira as a mentor figure and Mowghli as the first person in his previously meaningless life he cares about. Baloo goes through the reluctant hero arc, he bravely fights the main villain at the end saving Mowghli and finally letting Mowghli go is another act of heroism on his behalf. He is a really well written hero character. The Jungle Book has a lot of interesting and memorable characters, many of them being fleshed out through the course of the movie.

@@andreaspeters8602 I mean, Baloo may be the most complex character in the movie but the story is ultimately about Mowgli coming to terms with his inevitable manhood. Same way Triton is the most complex character in The Little Mermaid despite the story being about Ariel's quest for independence.

The most relatable to me are definitely Milo Thatch and Jim Hawkins. Milo believes that Atlantis truly existed, but is mocked for this belief up until he discovers that it is real. For most of the movie, he's being looked down upon for his scrawny size, lean build and nerdy personality, but upon realising the value of the Atlanteans and how much he grows to love Kida and her people, it's no surprise that he'd risk his own life to keep them safe. Kida is also an amazing love interest and deuteragonist by that regard, as she's willing to sacrifice herself for the people as well. With Jim Hawkins, the fact that he starts his journey as a troublemaker who wants to make things better for his mother is admirable, especially when it's revealed that his father abandoned them both when he was a kid. I loved the relationship that was built between Jim and Silver and it's sad that the movie never earned enough revenue to turn into a franchise. Aside from those two. I think Hercules showing the world that he had what it took to be a hero despite his downfalls was an inspiring message. Plus, his love for Megara being genuine and less about her looks (Though, she definitely used that to her advantage to woo him at first.) definitely is a lesson that most men need to learn nowadays. Judy, I liked how headstrong she was in wanting to make a difference and for pushing herself beyond what people assumed she was capable of as an individual. Plus, the fact she had her own percieved transgressions towards predators helped to keep her multilayered and showed that she could be naive about the world too. Looking at Aladdin next, I think his arc is very well-executed. I liked the fact that despite being a thief, he had a heart of gold and actively sought to better himself when Jasmine and the Sultan's lives were at risk. Plus, his decision to release Genie as a token of their friendship is one of the most emotional moments in Disney's history, imo. Kuzco is someone who I initially detested as a kid for being obnoxious and selfish. Which made it all the more funnier when he'd get his ass kicked or be thrown into a perilous situation. But as I've gotten older, I've come to realise that the movie plants a lot of subtle hints towards his childhood and how overly pampered he was. Plus, it's said that he was raised by Yzma, which leads me to believe that his actual parents were neglectful (Which only strengthens his relatonship with Pacha even more. Since he never had that kind of love in his life.). Simba is an immediate face I turn to when it comes to compelling character arcs and it's something that's strong in both Simba's Pride and The Lion Guard too, which follow the lives of his children, Kiara and Kion, and how they grow as characters. Simba went through a rough childhood, held onto the guilt that he accidentally killed his own father and tossed away his old life to repress it, and how it was through heading back that he realised the truth and took back the throne from Scar. Kiara follows in her father's footsteps with acknowledging the importance of unity and that the two prides can reunite as one, despite their differences in appearance, and I'd toss Kovu into the mix as well, who's been manipulated his entire life to believe Scar was the rightful king and that Simba was the enemy. Whn in reality, Zira couldn't give two shits about anyone. (Excluding Nuka, who she ignores for most of the movie.). Heck, she even threatened to kill Vitani when she switched sides. Onto Kion, It took me awhile to like him as a character (Especially in season one when he's still learning the ropes of what it takes to be a leader in charge of protecting the Pridelands.), but over the course of the series, he began to mature with time and even changed his perspective on hyenas thanks to Jasiri's clan. He actively told off Ono and Bunga for disbelieving Beshte, learned that Fuli liked to be independent, learned to forgive his old enemies like Makuu and Janja, and openly admitted to Vitani that she was destined to follow in his footsteps due to accepting the responsibility of keeping the Pridelands safe, with or without the roar. Almost all of Disney's heroes hold a special place in my heart, one way or another. Quasimodo, Moana and Mulan alongside Tarzan, Ralph and Tiana also make the cut when it comes to favourites. I think Ariel is misunderstood a lot too.

@@myveryowndisneyroommirabel is one of the most realistic fleshed out disney heroines ever💀 she genuinely feels like a teenage girl she isn’t abruptly quirky and awkward like anna her character feels so natural. Stephanie beatrizs incredible vocal performance also contributes to that putting so much emotion into her. I’m so glad they let the character have these silly moments where you can tell she really is only 15 and has no idea what she’s doing but she’s passionate anyways. Her story is just so special and so important and despite being the newest Disney heroine she’s definitely one of if not my favorite one.

@@jessicapinkman-hd4bw she helped lilo after the loss of her parents in dealing with bills, the stress of her not having lilo taken away into Foster care, she was supportive of her after there parents died, she had to give the things she loved to look after lilo. Forget the blue ailen nani is where its at. I agree with animat there actully and that there should have been more of the sisters because of how good it was. The ailen stuff isn't bad and can be fun but it isn't as good as the sister story.

I feel Nick Wilde is an interesting hero in that that’s not exactly who he is at first, just a cynical, sly, con-artist fox who has lost his way and more positive world view of others due to a traumatic event in his childhood. He had much to gain and much to learn which he did through a great character in Judy and quickly forgave her for her bigotry showcasing that there’s more to him than a cynical fox but a friend with a heart of gold even if he can be how he thinks he should act the way the world expects him to act.

I like the videos on your channel, and I think my fav heroes, with great development, who amaze me with their story are: Mirabel, Judy, Tiana, Simba, Anna, Mulan, Rapunzel and Eugene, and Lady.. They always have something to teach about their characters: I admire Mirabel's love for her family, even though sometimes they belittled her, and her empathy is the best quality anyone could have, and also the empathizing with her how it felt oneself not feeling special like others; Judy and Tiana, they inspire me to strive for my dreams and always fight for it in my life, even if I'm wrong, I can get back up; Simba's story is incredible and it amazes me when I see his whole story from childhood to adult and how he evolves learning about responsibility and true courage, yes TLK has great life lessons; Anna's development is impressive how she discovers that love is not only romantic but can also come from family and friends and is putting others before oneself actually, it inspires me how she rises from her depression in Frozen II to do the next right thing; It also inspires me how Mulan surpasses herself to be the best warrior and how she loved her family and wanted to honor them;I like how dreamy Rapunzel is and how that leads her to discover that she is more than she believed, also that Eugene changes for her for the better and loves her for what she is and not for her magical qualities;

Usually, I agree with most of your takes but with this one, I just can't. The bias against characters who are just sweet and kind without kicking ass is just way too obvious and I just cannot ignore it. A character is not any less of a hero because they don't move mountains or leave their life behind to go on a grand self-discovering journey. Snow White is an amazing hero because of how positive and optimistic she remains throughout her abuse and how she continuously elevates everyone around her and, to me at least, that makes her a greater hero than most of the characters you placed above her. Cinderella, similarly, is an abuse victim who earned her happy ending by being exceptionally kind and sweet so to see them be put this low simply because they didn't kill a monster or save the world seems really unfair to them. Not every movie has the same stakes and thus, not every movie has the same scale for what it is to be a hero. Both Snow White and Cinderella are heroes in their own rights. And I know you admit to your bias towards Hawaiian and Polynesian characters and don't admit but obviously have bias towards characters with glasses, so I will also bring up another point. For a disabled person who was abused for years as a child, Snow White and Cinderella will always be much more heroic to me than Belle or Moana simply because Belle and Moana have much fewer inner obstacles, Belle especially so. Cinderella and Snow White are heroes because they are stuck in a seemingly inescapable situation and they do not give up and do not lose hope. They remain kind and gentle and don't view their femininity as a weakness (which you kind of seem to do) but instead as something to embrace and enjoy. Long story short, I know this is subjective and I can't expect everyone to agree with me on everything, but I do wish you gave a bit more credit to Snow White and Cinderella specifically. Just because someone doesn't swing a sword or doesn't save an ancient god doesn't mean they aren't a hero. They may not be impressive to you but they have a lot ot offer if we're willing to look for it. They are heroes for the less fortunate of us. Heroes for the people who cannot save themselves. They are rays of hope that tell us that we are worthy of being loved and saved because we matter. Without a sword, without saving the world, without having to go through a huge journey. They are heroes.

Sorry but, Milo Thatch is in NO way better than Jim Hawkins. In fact, Jim deserved to be in the top five because he's such a likable, sympathetic, well-developed, well-written, well-executed, and especially relatable character for teens and those like him who have suffered from parental abandonment, which is so rare for Disney to tackle nowadays. The feeling of being seen by the world as worthless and never contributing anything important nor valuable to society along with never-ending self-doubt is shown through him. If the montage song, I'm Still Here, and John Silver's Makings of Greatness speech aren't enough to prove that Jim's an amazing hero, then I don't know what does. He's one of the many, many reasons why Treasure Planet's an underrated masterpiece.

yeah, that's why he's one of my fav characters.. and he always seemed very relatable, and his story captivates me, it hurt me that he really couldn't tell his best friends or the love of his life about his problem about his past, thinking that it would drive them away or that they could not help him, in addition to his trauma depression, and I admire how when he re-met with his father, he already feels the strength to get up from his pain and return to take his place..

Kudos just for that brother lol I don’t agree with all your rankings - for example, I _never_ would have ranked unbearably naïve and childish Ariel above complex, sincere, and angsty Jim Hawkins - but in other areas, I was pleasantly surprised by how highly you ranked some characters who don’t get nearly enough appreciation! I've always loved the Aristocats! And at the end of the movie mr. Thomas O'Malley cat became a father of the three kittens and a new hubby of Duchess! So I suggest if they can't make a sequel for The Aristocats they should make a series about their kittens Marie Toulouse and Berlioz making some new friends who were Ali kittens who are the sons and daughters of all the Alley Cats of Paris! And Marie would also have a rival named Dory and her hench kittens Chloe and Zoe who are twin sisters! The Chloe and Zoe always had a crush on Marie's Brothers Toulouse and Berlioz! But Dory was always the meanest in the cartoon! And according to my version of the cartoon Dory is a black cat who causes bad luck! Especially if she wanted to pull pranks on poor Marie! But luckily her brothers were always there to stop Dory! And Marie has a love interest named Michelangelo meow! But everyone calls him Michael! And he is a brown tabby kitten! He is as StreetWise as Thomas O'Malley only he would be voiced by Dante Basco! And Dory was actually the elder cousin of Michael! And Dory really hated Marie! Also Dory could sometimes be very bossy to Michael! Especially when she was telling him to stay away from Marie! I would give anything to make such a serious like that for the Aristocats! It's always been one of my favorite Disney animal movies since I was a little girl! I guess it's no wonder why love kittens so much! The problem is I just wish I could work at Disney channel studios!
