It fits with the point he is making, the character can be extremely strong but not only he requires much more work than most characters but then he is still very unreliable. Doing great once every few matches/rounds and poorly the rest of the time is not compatible with a competitive mindset. And better opponents won't let you get free combos like in low ELO.

They need to make Wolverine a vanguard, he has a vanguard esc kit but refuse to make him one because he’s small ig but he’s literally twice the width of captain America and is still an easier target to hit than most characters. His base damage needs to get buffed from 15-20 or 25 His lunge hit box needs a slight buff His E duration needs to be atleast 10 seconds And his claw strike needs a slight damage buff since it does the same or a tiny bit more than a normal auto and maybe a bit of longer distance for mobility

5:25, jeff is the hardest to kill healer by far. You can quite literally run through the enemy team on your own, and get away with it because of the tiny underwater hitbox + instant heals. Not just that, he has the highest healing output, as well as no damage fall off at any range

I was thinking the same. Him putting Jeff so low and putting Hawkeye so high lets me know that he just needs to play the game a little bit more. But to be fair he probably isn't testing this stuff in practice mode. Hawkeye is just a slightly better black widow. He should be in D tier. Hela makes him obsolete. Lastly he mentions Captain America and Thor but doesn't Acknowledge Scarlet witch and Magneto. It's so incredibly broken. Adam and StarLord or Mantis is very strong too.

good list, but you're justification for Magento I disagree. His damage is good, but someone like Strange has the highest DPS of all the tanks and definitely outclasses him there. IMO The main thing he brings are the two shields that make him really hard to kill. I think Strange should honestly be in S with Magento, cause you or your teammates can't get sniped by Hela or Hawkeye with that huge shield, and invalidating Hela's ult is really strong.

The regular heal as well is really good and has great range and you can throw the bubble heal to teammates you can't reach with the normal heal. And the ult is just stupid

Totally agree -- Jeff is a great healer, in fact all of the Strategists are relatively broken in their own way. But he is rarely played above Gold, I don't think I've seen him in my last 20 games except for 1 game... that we lost lol.

A tip as well for your little 'cut-ins' where you edit a close up of a Character on their status screen: you can click+drag to rotate the character and their head position will change as you rotate them. Makes for some more variety in your editing. :) Thanks for the guides!

I think what I love most about your approach to a video like this, is the way you've articulated these rankings with nuance. I see so many tier lists or guides where people speak hyperbolically with "YOU HAVE TO PLAY THIS CHARACTER", or "DO NOT USE THIS RIGHT NOW"... and the entire introduction of this video is you explaining that's NOT the purpose of this video. I feel like most character can be at least High B- Low A tier in this game as long as you know how to use them properly.. Anyway here’s my top tips for my main Strategist (Cloak and Dagger) and Vanguard (Venom). Cloak and Dagger: #1 TIP- their abilities do not go on cooldown and are able to use immediately when switching between the 2 essentially allowing you to use all 4 (Healing wall, Healing Aura, Blinding wall, Cloak) abilities all within 2 seconds. Not saying you’ll use them in 2 seconds but if you’re about to switch and have time you can use whichever character abilities your on and still be able to use the others abilities (hope that made since). #2- Cloaks cloaking abilities can block enemy fire as it make you invulnerable as long as you (and teammates) don’t shoot. This is a great tip for ults like Scarlet Witch, Iron Man, etc… #3 Take advantage of being able to switch between them. I used to damn near only play Dagger 90% of the match but now I know when I’m able to switch between them (for the most part). EXAMPLE: if I’m on Dagger healing and my teammate Luna snow pops Ult, the team is almost indestructible, so I’ll use my abilities, switch to cloak knowing Luna prob got the heals, and throw out my Blinding walls to help the damage dealers or wait for an opportunity to use Cloaking ability knowing that the enemy teams Hela or Scarlet witch will pop ult to cancel Lunas and I’m able to cancel ults with just an ability that’s not my ult. Venom (my true main). Will give lil more tips. 1. Symbiote resilience grants more health the lower your health is. I know it says it in the description itself but I see a lot of people use it when they’re at like 75% and only get like 200 health back. #2 his ult however does more damage 50% and grants more health based on how much health the enemy has. If an enemy has. If an energy has 500 health it’ll do 250 damage. Enemy has 100 health it’ll do 50 damage. 3. Just because you swing in doesn’t mean you have to drop in, especially when your entire team is long range. You can swing, get the enemies attention, and swing back to your team and maybe during that time your team would have picked off 1 or 2 enemies because most likely the healers are watching you, not paying attention to their teammates or running away because well, they don’t wanna get slammed on, or even better pre use an ability and basically just waste it because of you. 4.You don’t have to use Cellular Corrosion as soon as you drop in. A lot of characters have mobility abilities so using it right away often times does nothing because they just use them and escape your tendrils in 1 second. 5. Use your climb to your advantage. If you’re in between team fights and you got some time, go ahead and climb or get on top of a surface to where you can save your swing because it’s your best escape tool and has a lil bit of a cooldown. You don’t have to immediately dive when detaching from swing. Detatch at the top, get a good look at where everyone is, fall a second or 2 and then dive. This chops off a second or 2 of your cooldown and can be lifesaving (literally). 6. Dive squishes. Self explanatory. Adam Warlock, Mantis (without her sleep), Iron Man (LMAO), ya know squishes. 7. Work with your other diving teammates. Doesn’t need to be always but a nice planned attack with them never hurt. 8. PERSONAL PREFERENCE but Cloak and Dagger are your best friend (for heals). They have ALMOST auto aim healing. Can shoot a healing aura on where you’re diving to help with heals, blind the enemies. Grant excess heals on you. And they’re (my opinion) top 2 Strategist based on offering some of the most utility (Blind, Extra healing, Healing aura, invisibility). I know it’s a lot but if you actually read all this I hope it helped.

I've been only playing Loki climbing my way to the top 500, and one of the main reasons why he's not that great it's because he doesn't have any way of CC to stop the enemy or crazy healing to keep everyone alive. Sure when you have all your clones up you do have a lot of healing and dmg output, but the higher elo you're the more people just break your clones quickly. I would say aswell that he's one of the biggest counters to psylocke because his clones deny her entire ult.

I’ve found that the clone positioning is super important! I almost always start by placing a Loki behind the enemy team to disrupt a few players and make them turn around and take them out of play for a couple seconds

Its odd u put Thor and Cap together at A tier because of thier synergy, but Spider man has a one shot with venom, and Black panther & Magik also have one shot combos WITH synergy with Psylocke making them A tier at least. Hawkeye is good but cant be S tier due to being easily countered by other B to A characters, a medicore iron fist just ruins his day, where as Hela can at least build up a game winning ultimate. This is not a bad list, I would say this list works great as an "Ease of use" or "Easiest to Rank up". If you have previous expiernce with games or understand the Game and characters on a deeper level the tiers shift especially on higher ranks. For example Dr Strange, Iron Man, HULk team up is played in tournaments, however this can be harder to use for solo que. Good Vid!

The entire list wasnt congruent. He starts off by saying the list assumes your talking about a high rank and the character is being piloted by a skilled player. He later on ranks characters that require skill as low, because 'why would you want to do that to yourself'. Placing Magneto in S over Strange is well, strange. Panther is way too low. Peni is way too high. The list doesnt make any sense. But from what I understand, hes ranked at silver, so this is just a dogshit list made by someone who has no experience.

Yes, Black Widow is outclassed by similar characters, but she beats like all of his C tier and has a strong synergy with Hawkeye. Thor's Hela synergy does put him up to A/B, not the Cap synergy. The Cap synergy does almost nothing for Thor while Hela revives him with 80% and heals on kills with the strongest character. I think Magneto and Strange are both quite strong, so whatever. SG, Bucky, BP, and Magik are too low. Rocket and Moonknight too high. I should probably include that I'm just an unranked dingbat though.

In a game where 4 sniper characters exist (Hela, Hawkeye, Namor and Widow), Widow will never be played in competitive during this season. Even with bans, she is unusable because there are 3 superior options. For this reason, she is a mandatory F tier from a competitive standpoint; she is unusable. Next season, new teamups will exist, and that meta will change. The list should not compare characters against eachoter in 1 vs 1 situations... Because the game is a team game. It should consider the individual characters value in a team setting. You may be unranked. I'm top 500. I'm not surmising what things might be, im telling you what they are. But you can also look at pick rates at Diamond+. Black Widow currently has a 0 pick rate.

Pretty good list, I agree with a lot of the takes besides a few. Hard disagree on Bucky, he is extremely strong. Insane ult with the execute, great ability combos and overall damage, minimum A, arguably could be low S. There's no shot that Cap and Peni are in the same league as Strange. Cap feels borderline useless without Thor teamup and Peni has decent lockdown/area denial but kinda just exists as a meatshield past that? Namor is definitely slept on, sure his turrets aren't going to be great on every map but the same could be said about Peni's traps and she's supposedly A tier? Plus he counters a lot of the melee heroes like Spidey and has pretty good burst damage. BP is hard to play and can be inconsistent but the same could be said about Spidey in B tier who is even harder to play and requires specific maps to thrive.

I get kind of bored on defense but placing the nest moving it up, respotting it to mess with the enemy, dropping mines before they counter push, it's pretty fun! @ it’s definitely a weird spot when it opens up and some spots of the area feels like wherever you place your sentry it’ll get shot. I saw a video on how the drones follow your webbed routes so it’s a little tedious but if the sentry is a little far around the corner I try to place it max two web snares away so that the spider drones can follow the path and if we get pushed back it’s there. Plus if we get flanked we have the back sentry mines as defense too. Worked last time but my game definitely helped with great team comms

It’s just weirdly open before the choke, so the approach feels like a death sentence, but also gives them so much time to fall back and defend the choke hard if we get a push going. I’ve been experimenting with setups in the building nearby, but I haven’t hit in anything all that amazing yet.

I think he really underrated Loki due to his ability to do something similar. His Regen domain can literally let you tank any one shot ult in the game, and stay alive against the others (except for Jeff). It's definitely useful

Love this list! Starting to see some consensus after the first few days of everyone's lists being so split. In usual fashion, the fan favorite characters in a game tend to not be the best choices. Sucks to see favorites like Iron Man, Wolverine, Spider-Man, Cap, Hulk, Thor, Venom, Black Panther etc not being great. But it happens! I hope they find a way for Melee characters to become relevant! 😄

I haven’t played Ranked yet so take this with a grain of salt. Theres a few heroes on here I just don’t agree with at all but for the most part, the list is pretty solid. Here’s my take: Jeff is damn near S tier. His ult alone, is busted to all hell. He can basically sacrifice himself on certain maps to kill anywhere between 1-6 heroes. That alone is nuts. He can also just swallow 1-5 of heroes in a team fight just to keep them out of the fight (for a good 10 seconds might I add) while the rest of your team destroys the other team. On top of his healing being one of the best and a good getaway tool. Putting him in B tier is just crazy. He’s at least an A. Venom should be A tier. He’s such a good dive tank and basically has 3 bars of health that you have to burn down which takes forever if your whole team isn’t focusing him. On top of having a good skill set, a good get out/get in tool. I think he’s great. His ult may not do a lot of damage but knock up on 4-5 heroes can change a team fight. Magento on the other hand feels a little high. I don’t think he’s that strong of a tank. I would bring him down to A tier and move a different vanguard like strange, cap or Penni to S. While I don’t think any Vanguard is S, I would definitely put those 3 above Magneto. Magnetos shields are very good but he is very slow and doesn’t really have a move to make him airborne like strange. Other than that, I would say the tier list is pretty solid. I haven’t played any DPS character yet so I can’t really comment on those.

i feel like loki is super underrated. i’ve tried luna and mantis but having three ways of getting out when dove on, being able to have team invulnerability on a 25 second cool down + team wipe potential is so clutch.

Black Widow hasn't been figured out yet. She's more of a flank. Her kick, Grapple, stun combo can take down any healer and she can out sprint and jump most for a quick escape.

Ive found great success playing wolverine very passively. Pretty much only targeting their tanks and running away if i fuckup or dont kill works surprisingly well. Namor is the best anti dive dps imo. Turrets high on walls shutdown spideys, blackpanthers, ironfists, and psylockes try to get on your supports. Even on attack, placing your turrets defensively will greatly reduce the value any dive gets.

I think people seriously underestimate how much damage Strange is capable of, I've managed to get around the same amount of kills as my duelists, and that's not at the cost of blocking damage either. I think it's just Sttange players not taking advantage of his shotgun-esque primary

I feel like people are really sleeping on Hulk. His damage isn't great,but he has some of the best Ult Denial and Peel potential in the game. Ive saved so many teammates from iron man and jeff ults with a well timed bubble. His ult is amazing for stalls too, his CC spit is also fantastic, and he has great team ups too. People play him as a dive tank,but but he works so well as more of a support tank.

On their own, Thor and Cap are A tier-able if you really understand their kit. For example in Thor’s case, if you understand how keep Thor force defended up as much as possible, he is really hard to kill. And as he swings Mjolnir around he is damaging and building armor. Though his ultimate is sort of too obvious and easy to get away from in most maps.

I will say with loki he is not really mean to be a primary healer. He feels like he is more meant to disrupt, and confuse the enemy team while putting down some alright damage, and healing. And he excels at confusing the other team. Plus being able to copy any ult is really powerful, nothing scarier for the other team than hearing the same ult popped against you twice

Worth noting that i can see from your gameplay youre not auto canceling your left click into quick melee on magik. The amount of burst she packs once you master that buffs both her damage and thanks to her passive also buffs her survivability drastically. I think shes easily on par with the other top tier melee. She just lacks escape options if she uses her dash for damage/gap close

OK, I know this is about the tier list, but I just really wanted to share this one match I had. So, we're playing convoy on the Wakanda map as the attacking side. The defense team has backed us into our spawn, none of us can actually get to the objective. Now, I'm playing Moon Knight, and the time is running out. I tried to clear the way several times for us, but it just ain't enough. I realize we boutta lose, so I decide to go around to the objective ON MY OWN. In any other situation, I wouldn't try to just abandon my team, but in this case, the whole enemy team is in OUR spawn, and they die rarely, so not that many should respawn. As I get to the objective, I suddenly get ambushed by Spider-Man, and survive by the very skin of my teeth (I forgor how the saying goes). Then, I start capturing the objective, and the enemy Punisher tries to deal with me via a turret. I hide behind the perch he placed the turret on, so he can't angle it to shoot me, and once he deactivates it, I kill him, too. Next thing you know, the enemy Black Panther shows up, and we're on overtime by this point. I somehow manage to get rid of him, too, and FINALLY capture the objective, and get it moving. The time wasn't on our side for the rest of the round, but we managed to push through and win. One of the most stressful, but rewarding experiences I've ever had in a game.

I think they should keep Wolvering somewhat debuf, BUT make up for it with powerful healing factor. It would make Wolvering a force to recon with in the game. As well as giving him some way to escape when he's being ganged up by multiple enemies.

Thanks for this tier list it’s fun seeing everyone’s their list I just saw necros and I really liked his. Theirs a few things on this list like so of the close combat character should get moved up because I have seen them absolutely wipe out range characters, but that’s just my opinion. I’m a magik main and i only have 8 hours on her right now but from me playing her I can definitely easily kill range characters which I think necro’s has that understanding of close combat really well so it makes sense why he put them high. I can definitely see your point if you and overall I like this tier list thanks for the video!

Pretty much fully agree with this list. I've seen many others that are all over the place. The only one on this list I'd argue is Rocket. I'd personally put him in B, but I'm ok with him being A too. I hope they adjust some of the characters, especially Logan and Black Widow. Wolverine feels clunky and unreliable at times, and poor Blackwidow should be able to receive damage boosts at the least.

Venom is far better than you give him credit for. You ONLY objective with Venom is to jump in with your dive bomb, pop your tether, pop your shield at the lowest point possible, and then get out before you die. You shouldn’t be fighting in a phone booth and digging in as venom. It’s chaos, and get out. If you are in a REAL pinch, you can use your ult as a way to get shield/extra health to make your escape when the ult is over. The ult doesn’t have to JUST be a pick off tool.

As a strange main I can confirm that iron man and hulk are bottom tier. IF hulk sticks with strange though then I find him a decent character. Maybe that is why he is a lot weaker than expected because he needs strange to be his saving grace. Realistically though I'd rather have venom and Spider-Man on my team with me. I think hulks has a really high skill ceiling that hasnt been fully explored cause when hulk pops off he really pops off and can be pretty versatile and has great mobility his bubble range for allys can be buffed some to make it easier to give to allys

I’ve been using squirrels girl a lot. The only thing I would say about her is the acorn toss. I feel like it shouldn’t bounce around because 99% of the times it bounces around and it never hits anyone. You really have to directly hit someone to root them I feel like they can turn the acorn into a bomb that explodes into smaller acorns that do little bits of damage and if you directly hit someone it’s still roots them and also explodes she just need a little buff I also think she should have built-in double jump and two charges on her tail bounce. I feel like for a character. She’s not oppressive as they think she is. I feel like some of the times playing her. She’s just there and I’m just there not being able to put out enough damage, and I feel like having that acorn explode into smaller pieces would make her a much better character and more fearful when going against her you can’t just come up in her face and not expect to be punished I know you can shoot her auto attack on the ground to bounce in front of enemies to get them like that but the radius also for that is also minuscule. The blast radius on her auto attack is so tiny.

Most of this tier list is pretty much perfect but JEFF HAS LOW SURVIVABILITY??? Jeffs hitbox has no HEADSHOT multipliers at all bcuz as you said hes a walking head and that would be unfair, but Not only can he stay on Groots shoulder but he can literally COMBO his own bubbles which make him faster by a pretty meaningful amount, with going under the fucking map making him even MORE fasting and auto healing him for half the game if he really wanted to because it has zero fucking cool down, not to mention the survivability these abilities ON THEIR OWN give him. Plus he has zero damage fall off, good damage output and I think his headshot damage boosts that up to fucking demon levels if im not mistaken, AND his water hose has extremely respectable healing output and thats not even his best healing ability.

My only wish for melee characters is that they can chase without having to use a gap closer. It feels so bad when you are just found the range of someone with a gun and they decide to just walk backwards and it's just as fast as you are chasing them. It doesn't feel intuitive at all. Something as simple as melee characters get a 5% movement speed bonus when moving forward, would be more than substantial. And of course appropriately balance Captain America's Sprint, and not give it to characters like venom or Magic who are mid-range.

Wolverine is a tank buster. He does more percent damage based on how much health the enemy he's fighting has. Play him in the way he was meant to be played and you'll have a great time with him. Give him a shot!
