Smokey and the Bandicoot is a fascinating anomaly where getting the Gem is WAY MORE of a dick pain than getting the Platinum Relic. It's not even close.

Until I replay this entire game properly as an adult I can’t give a a proper ranking, but based solely off the memory of playing as I experienced 7 year old my favorite levels were always the ones with the best music 😂 If I had to be stuck on one level forever it might as well be a bop.

@@vittoriopugliese3352 Smokey and the Bandicoot used to be even lower on my list but I found some of the flying stages and Ghost Town more boring than that. The reason I put Crashteroids this high is because I liked the atmosphere much more than the other 2. Still there are much better levels than that.

Fun fact: You can skip the monkey bar section in Weathering Heights by charging a tornado spin, short hoping towards the metal crates and then double jumping to land on them.

You can also get hit while having 1+ Aku Aku mask to trigger invincibility frames and then just drop into the void and run along the bottom, then double jump back up at the end, it's what speedrunners do iirc

Worst level: Smokey and The Bandicoot. It makes the Crash 3 racing levels look like Gran Turismo. Best level: Weathering Heights. Awesome music, awesome setting, just an epic feeling whenever I play the level. Honestly, all the medieval levels and most of the factory levels are great.

In reality every gems matches with the levels you find it:yellow gem is in "gold rush"because gold,green gem in "wizards and lizards"because of the dragon,red gem in "crash n burn"because fire and the blue gem in "arctic antics"because ice.the only one is the purple gem in "the gauntlet" wich I dont' find a sense.Maybe because in the bonus levels you have to complete "Knight time" a variation of "the gauntlet" with Coco.

Nice video! I’m currently working on all 36 songs ranked in this game. So far it’s going okay and I’ve almost ranked them all. Watching your video has inspired me to finish the project. It’s been a lot of fun to make because while twoc has its down sides the soundtrack is by far the best part. I also totally agree with you saying that tornado alley’s theme didn’t fit with the design. That got it a pretty low ranking on my list.

My voiceover sounds very weird, and definitely bad quality. I tried to mess around with volume, frame rate, resolution, still it didn’t work. :( I tried my very best to make it the best I possibly could, but it still doesn’t come close to your video in terms of quality. I also gave you a shout out in the video. I think it sounds weird, whenever I talk loudly. If you turn the volume down a bit, the audio bugs might not be as easy to notice. Crash and Burn is my favourite level I love the level theme atmosphere and the bonus round music is such a great tune I also think the enemies are pretty interesting as well especially the crazy dive bombing parrots. Also not to mention the level crash and burn looked a lot diffrent in its early PS2 pitch game build so its a pretty iconic level for me because of that also It has a lot of diffrent screenshots and gameplay of what the game could have been sadily I can't seem to find the original video on youtube but im sure it was saved on the fan site called Crash Mania. Also call me crazy but I Honestly prefer wrath of cortex than crash bandicoot 4 its about time.

I agree with many picks but also disagge with a lot. To me, medieval madness is a masterpiece of a level, and it does feel like the Ball is designed for the level, while it just feels challenging. Bamboozel feels the smoothest, but I just personal see it as its because its the easiest. Also I actully really enjoy that sinking feeling. So satisfying imo haha. Also i belive the vehicle of Fahrenheit Frenzy us the same as the one used in Level 28. (Don't remember the name) This would be my top 15, with every level indcluded 1 Medieval Madness 2 Cortex Vortex 3 Crash and Burn 4 Fahrenheit Frenzy 5 Solar Bowler 6 Eskimoroll 7 Weathering Heights 8 Gaundelett 9 Compactor Reacter 10 Bamboozel 11 Banzai Bonzai 12 Wizzard and Lizzards 13 Gold Rush 14 Arctic Antics 15 Crate Balls of Fire

I remember playing this game so long ago it was one of the first I got for the PS2 when I didn't even have a memory card! I had to get as far as possible without saving. The furthest I got was I think the third boss. I'll always love this game, despite it's flaws.

I don't know how can you ignore the time trials when grading the level design, truly stellar mental fortitude or maybe you just went barking mad while gathering all the relics. I went through half of the video thinking you are insane for giving a level that high of a score, when i recalled back to gathering the plat relics, even after you stated multiple times that the list would look very different if time trials were a part of the equation. All i have to say is fuck the monkey bar, fuck the mech suit, fuck the delayed starts and most importantly of all fuck the submarine and eskimo roll. Also a special P.S. to this game from someone who spent hours in front of the TV playing this as a kid, fuck the loading times on PS2, i spent more time looking at that loading animation than playing the game.

By the time Crash Bash and this one came out, I was all "Naughty Dog or NOTHING." 😂 But the older I get, the more I appreciate what the game was trying to do (as well as Crash after Naughty Dog-I'm an avid defender of CNK and CTTR). Grateful for the "real" Crash 4, though. Lol.

The swimming controls in this game are better than in Warped, specially after you get the tornado spin Crash feels really good to control But then the submarine ruins all the potential fun that you could have by controlling Crash by himself My personal favorite level is actually Medieval Madness, i never had so much fun getting the gem and the platinum relic in a Crash Bandicoot level, and it has the best song in the game and the only one that actually loops properly

However, with the overall grey and gloom tone they took artistically and the wider spacing of the level, I can admit the choice in instrumentation feels less than idyllic, although I would die on the hill defending the melody. If it was set earlier in the day, like a mid-afternoon, with more of a sepia focus on coloration I think it would actually feel a lot more cohesive as a level, albeit at the risk of getting lumped in with the other desert levels for being that shade of beige, though they could have balanced that with an eerie green skybox which would be reflective of actual tornado conditions. I dunno, I just feel like the music perfectly fits the level's theme, just the level's execution doesn't live up to the realization of that theme. But the song slaps.

Thanks for making this video, it was nice to go back and remember it. I loved and still love this game. It's one of those titles that I'll always defend even if the fanbase generally hates it and there's a lot wrong with it. It's the Final Fantasy 8 of Crash games lol. Water levels are absolutely the worst. Also, this game has a VERY underrated OST. I listen to it when not playing every now and then.

Personally, I prefer Compactor Reactor over Fahrenheit Frenzy. Mainly because I like the minecart over the jetpack. And I'd say Wizards and Lizards is my favorite. But overall, I'd probably put the levels in a similar order.

This is the only Crash game I have played; there are some great games in the Crash series but they aren't really my kind of game; I had Wrath because it was included with my PS2 bundle, so I didn't know how I should judge it. I found some levels a lot of fun, but others infuriating! The bad ones are mostly those that force you to use a badly handled vehicle like the Sub or Mech; I found other vehicles like the jeep and glider were better.

The absolute worse levels are Coral Canyon, Force of Nature, Ghost Town, Ice Station Bandicoot and Droid Void (minus the music). Best ones are the ball ones, Compactor Reactor, Fahrenheit Frenzy, Weathering Heights and the medieval levels. But the best level in the game to me is Crash and Burn.
