Ranking the **SECRET** Levels in Crash Bandicoot: The Wrath of Cortex

Always thought that Solar Bowler was more worthy of being the "final secret level" instead of Force of Nature. Mainly because Solar Bowler shares the same theme as the credits. The Wrath of Cortex in general has a phenomenal soundtrack.

I was about to say that it would be disappointed if the last level was "vehicle". Then I remembered that Forces of Nature was also a vehicle level...

I still want Knight time as a ringtone, I settled for that "My drunk friend sent me this at 5:02 am" but its not the same! Also thank you for the shoutout and the ranking! I actually didn't know about the secret levels at all when I first played this and only know about it because of a cadicarous video; which led me to your channel because of the ranking; Everyone else seems to hate Twoc, but tbh its my favorite Crash game...maybe because I suck less at it than the others; Maybe its just because its the only crash game I didn't borrow and got to actually beat to completion; but I really liked it; and I'm not sorry for it. I'll have to give Solar bowler a listen, Honestly you'd think they wouldn't hide such gems of the soundtrack from the player but here we are!

Glad to see you made it happen! 😮 the last warp room levels are quite strange at times, mainly the level where you’re racing a polar bear on a magic carpet through the sky. It just comes out of nowhere. It’s also quite weird that you race Crunch outside of a boss fight, seeing him out of context combined with the music just makes the whole experience kind of unsettling (not really in a bad way, just a weird one) I think it’s pretty clear that the last warp room levels were somewhat a dumping ground for vehicles that were underused, yet I can at least appreciate you’re still seeing new content in the last area. That’s one thing I really appreciate WoC for over the original trilogy, every level feels mostly unique and has new music. Always sucked to me that in Crash 3 you get to the last warp room and it’s all content you’ve seen before earlier in the game. Also please rank the soundtrack, I think that would be a lot of fun!

it's kinda wild that the only Secret Level that's actually regular platforming is Knight Time LOL - great list BTW! I was hoping Knight Time would be the highest but I can't blame you for putting Solar Bowler there 'cuz it got really cool scenery, and YES I'd love to see your ranking of TWOC music tracks 'cuz so many of them are fire ^^

It’s great that you finished off TWoC levels after I just recently watched your ranking video. Ghost Town should be the best secret level off the merit of not having to play it. Lmao jk, good list nonetheless. Since you mentioned the soundtrack, perhaps do a ranking of the TWoC soundtrack?

Despite playing this game many times I don't remember the secret levels much. I'm surprised you ranked Ghost Town higher than last, as Jak's list did, but I do recall the underwater levels with the Sub being horrific. Can't believe no one thought it was a bad idea. I do remember Knight Time and it being a fun reskin. Anyway, good video!

Another great ranking video! A shame this couldn’t be in your original ranking video of every level. I’m not sure why you excluded these levels in the original, but it’s nice to see them in some sort of form of them being ranked I suppose. I’ve also had to restart my project of ranking all the songs unfortunately. There wasn’t enough room to export the original on my crappy phone, so I had to delete it and redo the whole process. I’m trying to save as much space as I can this time so I won’t run into the same issue. But the new one will probably be finished soon. Hopefully🤞 Again, great video!

I've always loved the music in Wrath of Cortex. I feel it's severely overlooked. Gold Rush is probably my favourite track. I recall making Crash only walk for the first part of the track and then when it kicked up the tempo he ran. Good times

How is this footage from the game so sharp and clean instead of blurry, does not look at all like PS2 / Xbox resolution? Anyway, nice work. I probably like the Solar Bowler level the most too!

It's recorded using Dolphin, if you look at my Wrath of Cortex review, that video uses footage from a GameCube (I explained how I recorded it at the start of the video) I started using Dolphin to improve the viewer experience :D

Force of Nature is a weird level. It’s got scary music 🎵 😮yet it doesn’t even have an avalanche.

I agree with the list, but would only switch Force of Nature with Ice Station Bandicoot. I love TWOC but it's like if they left the worst few levels for the last warp room (except for Solar Bowler, which is an incredible level). And I would definitely love to see the video ranking the soundtrack!

Great video! For me personally, Solar Bowler is the greatest level in the entire game. And Ghost Town isnt the worst for me. The race might be pointless, however getting the box gem and relic is super fun imo

I remember playing this game and I remember my ptsd from 100%ing the now non-canon fourth Crash game. In Force of Nature, it was a damn nightmare to try to get the clear gem for all the boxes. When I wasn't missing a box with an ill-timed jump at the top of a slope, I found a way to miss another box somewhere else or get hit by enemies I didn't touch or I shouldn't have been anywhere near. I think I easily spent weeks trying to get this, but that's because I was a kid and at the time and was limited to an hour a day. But I think I'm a masochist to some degree, cuz I think I decided I was going to 100% the game a SECOND time. As a whole, the game get a 3/5 because there's plenty they could have done better, but with all the new and challenging stuff, it made the whole experience decent. Make that 2.5 for loading screens long enough to make and eat a sandwich for EVERY LEVEL EVERY TIME YOU ENTER OR EXIT.

I never agreed with the hate on Ghost Town. Yes, it's easy but we all know the real intended goal is not to win the race, but figure out a way to catch all crates. At least that was a pleasant and fun challenge. Ice station bandicoot on the other hand, was just awful. Also like, the context for that level went out the window. You race using a copter backpack against a random polar bear riding a flying carpet above the north pole like... sorry wtf?

Knight Time and Solar Bowler are the only two good ones. Ghost Town is the laziest level ever designed. Ice Station Bandicoot is a poor man's Rings of Power. Force of Nature is the second worst level.
