mine from an online standpoint and not NPC racing: 19. Thunder Cloud - it forces you to go out of your way to hit someone else, distracting you from the race 18. Blooper - you can still see through it and it's moreso a filler item, but it still doesn't harm the person who got it 17. POW block - it's at least useful on SOME tracks, unlike the previous 2 16. Fake item box - it provides no protection when you hold it behind you, it would be placed higher if it gave protection and also was a closer colour to the original item boxes 15. Green shell - it's really hard to snipe a cautious player, especially if they're using the meta combo 14. Bob-omb - Unlike the fake item box, it has a chance to actually provides protection but it's not guaranteed if you're not going full speed or going around a turn 13. Blue shell - It's not too useful but it's at least a guarenteed hit against first place, which can extend the race just a bit allowing a chance for a comeback, although it gives 10 other people the chance to comeback as well 12. Banana - it provides guarenteed protection and it's also common for first, which is nice if the 2nd place got a redshell and you can't take a sharp turn to break it 11. Mega mushroom - it's kind of good in terms of that it provides somewhat invincibility and you can squish players but it's not too great because it's not that common 10. triple banana - like 1 banana, the accuracy for throwing is pretty hard to hit a person but it provides extremely good protection 9. triple green shell - just like 1 green shell, it gives good protection while also having a chance for offensive play, it's ranked higher than triple banana because green shells bounce off walls 8. Red shell - can be used for defense and offense, it works really well against a person who uses their item right before hitting another item box 7. triple red shell - even better for offensive play, it provides great protection simultaneously as well 6. mushroom - great for shortcuts and can also dodge blue shells with a well timed mushroom as well 5. triple mushroom - same is normal one, just has 2 more 4. golden mushroom - goes farther than triple mushrooms, but there's less actually good places to start using it at 3. bullet bill - full invincibility, can avoid shocks, can not choose where to go, doesn't do shortcuts, and it seemingly randomly stops which is why it's not better than star. To reinforce this idea, there's a chance that it can drop the player off at a corner forcing them to ram into a wall, making them lose time that they otherwise should've gained and kept 2. Shock - it is the ultimate comeback mechanic in the game, there's a lot of potential to catch up again to people but only 1 can be held at a time by a player 1. Star - full invincibility, can avoid shocks, can choose where to go, can do shortcuts, has more of a potential to pass people, it's just generally better than every item on paper

triple red shells does everything triple green shells does and more. It's foolish to put it lower than triple green shells because you can just use triple red shells like triple green shells if you wanted

Yeah after rethinking it through there’s a big case that Red Shells are overall better.. when ranking it was hard to fully figure out whether red or green was better but if I was to go back I think red shell takes the cake nowadays

In mario kart wii, tripple red shells will actually hone in on incoming items automatically, whereas green shells don't. It's a very small detail that really helps the item be a whole lot better.

Here's my ranking. 19: Thunder Cloud 18: POW Block 17: Mega Mushroom 16: Blooper 15: Fake Item Box 14: Blue Spiny Shell 13: Banana 12: Green Shell 11: Triple Banana 10: Bob-omb 9: Triple Green Shell 8: Red Shell 7: Mushroom 6: Triple Red Shell 5: Golden Mushroom 4: Triple Mushroom 3: Star 2: Bullet Bill 1: Lightning

@@Lemon_Milk You got that right. I personally consider the Mega Mushroom, POW Block, and Thunder Cloud to be the worst Mario Kart items ever, and I'm glad none of them have returned. They never should have even been added to Mario Kart to begin with anyway.

I think thundercloud and POW especially have potential to be great items with some modifications in a newer game, mega mushroom has no hope though since it's just a watered down third invincibility item

Aight others are putting their own rankings so i guess I'll also do one. 19. TC 18. Blooper 17. POW 16. Banana 15. Blue Shell (in a low position) 14. Fake Item Box 13. Red Shell (can be easily broken or blocked) 12. Green Shell (can bounce without instantly breaking) 11. Golden Mushroom (takes too much time too leave item slot) 10. Bob-omb (funny explosion lmao) 9. Mushroom 8. Triple Bananas 7. Triple Greens 6. Triple Reds (now THIS is an offensive threat, baby) 5. Mega Mushroom (least effective dodge item) 4. Triple Mushrooms 3. Star 2. Lightning (objectively the most powerful item but shut up i like the bullet more) 1. The Bullet of the Bill variety (affectionately dubbed the Billdozer)

Trip Shrooms, Shock or Bill Edit: I agree that triple shrooms is better 9/10 if you pull a golden at the end of a race with multiple cuts then golden is better
