I do have a soft spot for Runaway Mine Train, mainly cos it reminds me of going on the rapids with my friend and singing folk songs very loudly. Nothing like confusing a whole train full of people when a rapids raft comes by with 2 idiots singing The Wild Rover at full volume.

Went on the 4th unfortunately weather meant I got stuck in the queue for smiler for 2 hours due to 3 weather related breakdowns and got on galactica and wickerman in the last 30 minutes got really lucky there but nemesis reborn was closed for the whole day and we skipped oblivion to go for more unique rides as we had friends visiting us from Hong Kong

I LOVE this list. So rare to get a genuine first-time opinion. My ranking is a bit controversial: 1: Wicker Man (the atmosphere makes me so happy) 2: Galactica (Just so enjoyable - I wish it was in my back garden) 3: Nemesis 4: Thirteen 5: Spinball Whizzer 6: The Smiler (I love the theme, but I’m not a huge fan of inversions) 7: Oblivion 8: Rita 9: Runaway Mine Train I’ve never ridden Octonauts

Nice list. I would rank smiler at 3rd or 4th as it isn't my favourite. Interestingly I am enjoing Colossus at Thorpe Park more mainly because there isn't a second lift hill to kill the pacing and I think it is smoother

Intrigued to know what time of day you rode The Smiler as any time I’ve been on it, it can just be as intense as Nemesis during certain parts of the ride. Still prefer Nemesis over it though 👍 Plus I’ve always saw Oblivion as Alton Towers drop tower as they don’t have one apart from 3 tiny ones lol

I seriously don’t get why everyone is sending hate comments about your opinion (specifically with The Smiler)..I personally love the smiler,and I’d put it at 1,but I’m not offended whatsoever with you not putting it at one.I totally get it,sometimes the inversions over and over again just get boring,and that’s okay to think.It’s sickening how much people are THAT offended with your opinion SO MUCH!..Just because I don’t agree with you doesn’t mean I have to send a comment of how I despise your opinion with all my hatred and enmity… And different subject-if you’re wondering wether to skip the smiler or ride it,I’d say ride it although wait until the end because the queue times do get quite long midday… And here is my ranking list!… 10-Curse at Alton Manor 9-Runaway mine train 8-Congo river rapids 7-Spinball 6-Wickerman&Th13teen (they’re tied) 5-Rita 4-Galactica 3-Oblivion 2-Nemesis (reborn) 1-THE ONE AND ONLY….SMILER!!

I never make rankings for the sake of being contrarian. Smiler just wasn’t a favorite of mine and I rank things based on my own opinions, not others’ opinions. The tone wasn’t meant to sound contrarian, which was why I explained both the positive and negative aspects of my ride.

@@ThemeParkAvenue To be frank, you did a terrible job explaining why it was so low. Your negatives were it doesn't really do anything unique, has no hangtime, and is a little rough near the end. The first doesn't really make sense as no coaster has that unique of pretty much every type of inversion. This isn't like the Intamin 10 inversion model that just shoves a repetitive and uncomfortable quad heart line roll at the end to increase its inversion count. Smiler isn't that lazy, and never really repeats inversion types. Which is impressive for how many there is. The other 2 complaints are rather nitpicks. Hangtime isn't that high rated a sensation for coasters, and while it is known to be a little rough in parts its far from the roughest Gerstlaur. Nothing really explains why it is lower than the first (and most consider the weakest) B&M dive coaster and flying coaster. If it was something like that many inversions make you nauseous, then yeah. That would make more sense why it is so low for you. But the given reasons are poor.

​As he said: his own opinion. You cant say his opinion doesnt make sense, if its based on his own experience and what he is used to or how much of his expectations got fullfilled. You cant say his opinion is nonsene and tbh i understand his ranking of smiler. Was there once and was hyped for smiler, yet was annoyed waiting in the queuline for 2 h and had constantly this annoying laughing-sound-music busting in my ear and then had no significant speed, hangtime or g forces, but rather just inversion after inversion. That doesnt make a good coaster. It needs one thing that stands out to make it above average and its most likely one of the things i already named. Having the most inversions doesnt mean a coaster is good. Smiler isnt bad and actually a fun ride, but i wouldnt ride it twice in a row or be excited to jump back on. Oblivion on the other hand might be short, but is definetly the better experience, due to its first drop into the oblivion and it pushes u into your seat, which is a great feeling. But i wouldnt wait in line for it twice, cause of the very short layout. Back to smiler: i would probably rank it before galactica, since i hate flying coaster. But i wouldnt rank it over oblivion, wicked man or nemesis ​@@TheNinjaDC

It’s because I’m evil. But actually, Oblivion was a toss up and it won because it does what it sets out to do better than Smiler and was a bit more fun to me. Galactica just rules.

Galactica is great, but of course this is just my personal recommendation which is why I always encourage hearing multiple opinions when planning a park trip.

I wanted to make sure I described the coasters to multiple audiences, and there is an audience that only has enough time at a park to get on a few rides. I would not skip Smiler or anything else if time was not an issue.
