To explain why Vengence of Vilgax was so bad, it's been known for years in the fandom that executive meddling from Cartoon Network's higher-ups at the time resulted in them necessitating Dwayne McDuffie (showrunner of UAF & contributor to the Malware storyline in Omniverse) & the other writers to make drastic changes to Alien Force as it was being planned out & written. What was supposed to be a more natural continuation of the show with Kevin being mutated from absorbing alien DNA from the Omnitrix (& probably other things, but Dwayne didn't get that far) turned into the network mandating that they do less serialized storytelling in favor of more episodic adventures (why the season has a loose storyline with Vilgax & Kevin's mutation), re-introduce more characters from Classic (why Vilgax, Ghostfreak, Zs'skayr, & others were brought back), make Ben more like his 10-year-old self (why he's suddenly more egotistical, narcissistic, stupid, & the like), & try to being a more Classic-feeling flavor to the series (also why they broke the Omnitrix to make it inconsistently not work right like in Classic). They'd end up salvaging their initial ideas & putting them into Ultimate Alien, but that era of the show was never the same after that.

Omniverse’s season premieres typically aren’t anything special mostly because that series tended to start a season with a normal episode with little fan fare but when it comes to season finales it’s a completely different story, in fact Omniverse has arguably the best season finales in the whole franchise.

@@Flash-Light-Hope CN had a habit of messing up the episode order when airing especially for Omniverse, that two parter is meant to be the season 5 finale serving as the 199th and 200th episode respectively, CN aired it as the 201st/202nd at the start of season 6 for whatever reason.
