Altered Beast is definitely the king here! Love that game! I enjoyed Thunder Force 2 as well! Haven't played any of the other games. Can't wait for the next episode

Fun episode, it will be interesting to see where all the games end up in the ranking. I'm glad you like Altered Beast! It gets a lot of hate but I always liked it. The only other game I've actually put time into was Last Battle and it was not that fun. I am looking forward to when Thunder Force 2 comes up for Genesis A to Z.

I do think it will be interesting to see where they all fall. I'm trying my best to not put personal bias in the ranking. I think the scrolling screen doesn't help. But I love the giant boss fights. Last battle had some different ideas but poor execution.

Last Battle would have been amazing if you could continue and your character moved about 30% faster.

My buddy Terry Gooch first had this system. I remember how bad Last Battle was, but didn't care. Crazy dialogue. Too slow. Graphics, sound, music were amazing for that time. Never got past the pirate ship.

Last Battle needs a remake soooo bad. I think there is a lot of great ideas. But everything else is rough! Hahaha

Haha my review of Altered Beast recently caught some flak. I think it's pretty average, not a bad game by any means but not the greatest... I'd like to play Thunder Force II sometime.

The auto scroll does not do it any favors lol. I like the giant boss battles and opening song. Plus we can both relate to exploding shirts when we pump too hard at the gym

I think my brain exploded at the point where fresh wanted to jump back into his dad’s ball sack ??? Thankfully for me I didn’t get anything for genesis until 1992 and it was mainly for sports titles since I had a c64 that did most of my other gaming just fine. I played altered beast on master system. Fun game just wasn’t wowed by it even after playing for several hours. Cool series idea. A whole 2 hits with Tommy Lasorda baseball? Last I played several years ago I got 2 runs on 5 hits and lost 5-2. I gave up 14 hits to the cpu so it could have been way worse when I first bought the game as I have it now I lost 6-2 so I’m consistent.

Haha. Oops. The genesis was the best for sports games. I wonder how it would play on the master system? Glad you are enjoying the series so far. You definitely play more baseball games than me but try Tommy lasorda now and let me know how you do.

Altered Beast can get in the sea, I hate it 😂 Japan win so many box art contests. The Japanese just nailed it. The Space Harrier games can also get in the sea 😂 Super Thunder Blade can also get in the sea 😂 I sense a pattern developing 😂 I'm absolutely dying with laughter over Mary's pronunciations 😂😂 We actually use bent bats in Europe 😉 Oh, abd I was 16 in 1989 🙄

Rise from your grave! Japanese cover art will dominate the cover battles. I had no idea super thunder blade had so few levels. I never made it far into it but it is really tough. TF2 NA cover art is less generic and has more action. Japan's cover art for super league is better.
