Snowy escape had so much potential with the culture it was tapping into and then fell on its face.

EXACTLY. If they wanted so badly to do a "snowy escape" kind of pack, for ski resorts, snowboarding, hiking etc.... then they couldve done it anywhere, in the Alps, the Rocky Mountains but a Japanese world requires more care than just the aesthetics of it. There are so many missed opportunities in that pack that it makes me angry just thinking about all they couldve done.

Omg the best builds that came with the pack tho. Whoever did the architecture for the houses and venues, A++++, it's freaking gorgeous. I haven't tried the gameplay of it all yet, and probably won't much because that's not how I usually play Sims, but I love the rest.

There's actually a great mod for that. You get to see the needs of your pets and you can control them. Also I'd recommend a mod that lows decreasing of pets' needs that makes them more realistic imo

I'm glad I'm not the only one who feels like that about Eco Living. It's definitely a "they meant well" situation but it comes off as kinda pretentious and like you said the neighborhood action plans while fun on paper are a PAIN in action. And honestly everything that I wanted out of that pack, that more natural down-to-earth living you can just get with 10x more fun and 10x less irritation with the cottagecore pack.

Eco LifeStyle can be quite anoying sometimes, but it has amaizing build items and a decent Cas. I think the best part of it is the crafting oportunities like the candle making,Nuică fizzing and the furniture making.

I honestly don't know anyone who LOVES Eco Living. I did buy it for the build items (though I definitely agree that some of those weird clothes are too weird; I don't use them), but the gameplay... I didn't even know it had a voting option when I bought it, but I was excited to see the option to vote; I love the function of voting. But I HATE that there's no recurring voting period. I hate that once you vote, it's just set that way forever UNLESS you petition to repeal stuff. And the petition process was actually impossible when I tried it. The same advice I got was "You gotta be at least friends for someone to want to sign your petition." I played the game until Sims became good friends; didn't work. I cheated so their friends bar would be maxed out; didn't work. I had my Sim ask her WIFE that had been with her since CAS, months prior; STILL didn't work. I gave up and just cheat the NAPs directly now. It makes me sad, 'cause I would've loved to keep voting, but. Not to mention some of the NAPs are things I DO want enacted, like the fighting one, but you literally CAN'T play the game when it's enacted because EVERYONE either fights, or stops what their doing to watch the fight. NOTHING ever gets done. I wanted some neighborhoods to be a little more "dangerous" with fighting, but it's completely unplayable.

For people who want to *play* the game Get to Work is awesome, creating content with (just) GtW is probably not as easy, since it doesn't provide interesting visuals beyond the careers, which are repetitive and can get very boring if you don't care about the relationships your sim forms at work, so I get why some simmers feel GtW isn't worth it, despite it having A LOT MORE GAMEPLAY than most other packs

I really liked snowey escape. So many of the items are unique and have special interactions. I have a Japanese family, who live in a mansion on top of the mountain, and i have them living their entire lives in Japanese tradition (with the shoes being removed indoors, sitting around for hotpots, making candles and all that)

I like his idea of reducing their size and hiding them in the pond. I truly like the idea of reducing our Sims footprint but the NAPS, and randomly losing your power and water and all that other bs, I don't want in my game.

Also, in your settings, you can turn off the ability for NPCs to vote on them so that you'll get what you want. And if there's one voted in that you cannot stand, you can always use the cheat to shift-click on your mailbox to instantly remove the surprise crappy one.

With the eco-lifestyle pack you can just turn off voting before you start your gameplay then nothing gets voted and you can still use all the items from the pack.

I also don't care for Eco Lifestyle outside of CAS and build/buy mode. I think what you said is pretty accurate - if you don't have an interest in playing through the "eco lifestyle" storyline then it doesn't add much else to the game, and the neighborhood action plans can also get annoying if you aren't actively playing with them (even when you turn them off you still get a notification which is an annoying bug). I bought eco lifestyle but most of the time I have the gameplay of it turned off.

Love seeing City Living ranked so high, it’s one of my top ones too. Right now I’m obsessed with Cottage Living so that’s my number one but honestly City Living is usually my fave. I love the city, the festivals, the different communities and I really liked the different cultures it introduced into the game which give a lot more diversity of the neighbours which is much more realistic.

I have the laundry pack and I barely use it. More of a hassle as rarely does the washing machine clean the clothes properly. Has decent build mode items, clothing and hair though. But getting a pack or an add on for clothes, hair, etc is a waste of cash. If you see any mods that can replicate an aspect from a pack that you like then download the mod instead.

To get the base game, all 11 Expansion, packs, and 10 Game packs, alone, is $900 in Australia. PLUS there's still the monthly subscription! It's interesting to see how different every simmer and their priorities are. For example I genuinely feel like pets was the biggest waste of my money (and I even got it on sale) and the pack I use the least. I also don't particularly care for seasons, which is placed as the highest ranking pack here. The only thing I use from seasons is bees. I will often even disable seasons altogether because they annoy me more than they add to realism (something I generally don't care much for in my sims games tbh)

My favorite one is University!It's very very realistic comparing to Sims 2 and 3. It's also very fun - I love University system. ❤ All of my Sims was in university hahaha. I love the careers that are in University pack - mostly teacher. AND ALSO THE ROBOTICS IS SO COOL IN LIKE HALF OF MY GAMES I HAVE ROBOTS IN MY FAMILY. Also I'm in love with CAS. Things here looks like from mods and are like "modern". You can also have hotel, it's not very popular option but its fun

I say get both of them. I can't imagine playing the game without all of the expansion packs, especially when they go on sale quite often. Don't pay full price :-)

It’s been over a year of plying sims 4 and I have not bought seasons because I garden for my “get rich quick” schemes, and I know that seasons will affect that. That’s just my hesitation though and I’m glad she mentions that people have different styles of play.

In Seasons, If you plant inside walls, in a kind of greenhouse, the plant grows all year long, just ignoring the season season. I do it to always have dragonfruit.

Seasons looks amazing and I would love to have it...however, as someone who is looking to get their first pack, I think a new world is almost essential. Seasons doesn't come with a world so... that makes me lean towards other packs more.

the only reason why i havent gotta eco lifestyle is the neighborhood action plans...i agree with you and i feel like itll just impact my gameplay negatively if I am not using the actual world in the pack.

In terms of eco living, I feel like even if you are not about the 'eco' gameplay all the time, it does come up with a lot of other cool stuff. The cas is pretty good imo, the build/buy is outstanding, and in terms of gameplay it adds a lot of options for earning money outside of a normal job. Making candles, fizzy juice and fabrication is always a lot of fun to me. To each their own, and its not for everybody, but its one of my absolute favourites

The one thing that eco lifestyle does add to the rest of the game is the ability to live off the grid with more comfort. Solar panels and dew catchers can be used with any house (off the grid or not) and reduce bills too.

I never saw the hype for seasons that much. Weather is cute and all but I hardly ever use the holidays (they are such a chore). My ranking would be: City Living Cottage Living Eco Lifestyle Discover University Seasons Get Together Cats and Dogs Snowy Escape Island Living Get Famous Get to Work I suppose seasons is more fun for family playes though.
