Yeah this board is bs with the pipe system. It was certainly made with partner party in mind because this board is much more fun when you’re essentially in 2 places at once (well this is most of partner party). The bridge breaking and the broken shop getting destroyed after a while makes it even worse. Like if the pipe existed in this board, this board would be more fun in solo play Similar to how woody woods was made with the reverse shroom in mind so it doesn’t work without it

For Goomba Lagoon, it's a beginners trap to get stuck on an island. You failed to mention the multiple items you can buy to get you off an island. The warp pipe, warp box, Shop Hop Box, and the Tide Shell. They are pretty common to find at least one of them in a shop, and they aren't that expensive. It's always good to have one on hand when needed. Roll 'em Raceway is by far my least fav in Jamboree. I love the concept of just racing around a track doing multiple laps, but it ended up not working for me for multiple reasons. -The track is far too large with hardly any events on the map -There is only 1 single shop iirc. Which means only 1 chance to go fast with a 2/3/4 dice roll. The pitstop is gonna take several turns to even reach. -The Star doesn't move to other areas of the map, and the map doesn't really have much for shortcuts. Waiting to go around again feels miserable. I enjoyed the rest of Jamboree's maps, and I think Rainbow Galleria is perfect for the number 1 spot. There is just so much to explore in the mall that you can't really experience it all in a single playthrough.

Rainbow Galleria is my favorite personally, due to item and path availability it prevents the board from feeling like it decides who wins and rather it actually is designed to give each player the right amount of choices, it makes me more upset that Goomba lagoon was so botched.

Its so hilarious with goomba lagoon, because we are being mean on purpose, using the shell when someone is stuck on that island, and it ends up someone is stuck there for 6-9 turns. This is very close to what my list would look like. The one I would rank a lot higher is Kamek's Tantalizing Tower because I love the mechanics of getting to buy multiple stars per turn and trying to get them for as cheap as possible. The one I would've ranked a lot lower would be Bowser's Space Land because getting sent backwards by the whomp is really annoying, and sometimes, it takes half the game just to get to where you can esacape the whomp zone.

It's a problem with Jamboree as a whole, but it's especially a problem in Roll 'em Raceway because moving around on the board takes longer. It makes the board incredibly tedious. The only thing keeping it from last is that it does have pretty good board design. Peach's Birthday Cake is only that high bc I have nostalgia for it lol. Yoshi's Tropical Island is, in my opinion, the perfect Mario Party board. You can screw your friends by moving the star, which could also get you the star, there's an element of choice with the Thwomps but you can also screw your friends by making the Thwomp toll ridiculous, and there's a choice between the two islands, either going to the boo or going to the shop and getting 10 coins from Koopa. Everything about the board is well-designed.

Before playing Super Mario Party Jamboree, I would be inclined to get defensive over the original Super Mario Party. I find Jamboree better, to the point where it's my favorite game on the Switch, but I maintain a decent fondness of Super. While I do find a lot of the hate for SMP to be exaggerated...I do agree that its boards are weak. Four in total is an embarrassing amount, although I don't dislike the grid layout. Personally, I'd swap Megafruit Paradise with Kamek's Tantalizing Tower; the Kamek stage is enjoyable, but just a bit too short. Super Mario Party Jamboree, however, has much better boards. They all feel thoughtful in craft and are loads of fun to play on. If pressed, I'd put Roll 'em Raceway at the bottom, if only because I find its events a bit hit or miss. Even then, it's a B- at worst. I suppose that I can give my rankings on the Jamboree boards. 7. Roll 'em Raceway 6. Mario's Rainbow Castle 5. Goomba Lagoon 4. King Bowser's Keep 3. I think rainbow castle is better than peach's cake because as the video said, on peach's cake it doesn't seem like theres anything you have control over. Its just rolling the dice. There are no paths you have the choice to go by, you only really get to chose maybe to custom dice on the slide. With rainbow castle, theres choices to be made. You want to avoid getting a ztar so you sometimes chose the longer path. You have an incentive to custom dice onto a happening to avoid something, and i mean you can even buy the item that switches things. You can also chose the split path for boo.

@@thefountaincafe I think I prefer rainbow castle to yoshis tropical island and wild woods With yoshis island which is probably the most comparable, it has a similar structure. Go through a loop, hope you get the star, maybe try and sabatoge opponents with bowser. What I like about rainbow castle is how they store boo away in a longer path making you decide. And the split path at the end being there to have you stall time feels good. It also feels nice that you can pay the price of a star to have things work in your favor. Yoshi’s tropical island, idk. I’m not a fan of the thwomp gimmick, it rarely feels impactful cuz everyone just puts 1 coin at the start, and usually by the end you have enough coins to where 10 coins isn’t a lot, if it gets to there. And I dislike how boo is just something you naturally come across, I feel like boo is just too powerful and prefer when it’s out of your way like behind gates, I also dislike the warp pipe at the end cuz it makes the last few turns make the strategy feel like oh just go to the shop. As for wild woods, idk I echo what the video said where the paths splitting just feel very awkward and something you don’t have much control over.

for me horror land sucks. Despite the mechanic of there being a lot of boos, the boos end up getting used on horror land LESS than any other map with boos. This is because the GARBAGE day and night cycle limiting the amount of boos you use, and even when it's night 2 of the boos are limited to skeleton keys which are very rare on this map for some reason unless you purposely get them. Not to mention using the boos isnt even as optimal as just playing normaly also I love megafruit paradise because you can farm the s**t out of golden pipes

No, it's just vaguely similar. Since most boards generally favor clockwise movement over counter-clockwise, it's very easy for a broad layout forest board to resemble Horror Land.

Goomba Lagoon (stuck on a small island can be frustrating) 10. Tropical paradise (fun board. Decent gimmick) 9. Woody Woods (Hate the every move swap) 8. Wiggler Tea Party (super basic, boring) 7. Space Land (not terribly exciting, bowser rarely is useful enough to hit someone) 6. Raceway (Turbo dice SUCK) 5. Mario Castle (gimmick is fun but kinda frustrating) 4. Western Land (love this classic board. Great elements. Train) 3. Horror Land (Fun all around. Great elements, day night cycle different boos based on cycle) 2. Yeah, I agree that MegaFruit Paradise is the worst Mario Party board on the Switch. The only ways to navigate through the four islands are having to land on an event space to go through the pipes (which requires strategy) and having to walk through destructible bridges. The first bridge is the sand bridge where if you cross it so many times, it will collapse and disappear for the rest of the game! This is truly diabolical! The second bridge is the wooden bridge that Blooper watches over. If you land on an event space on that bridge, Blooper will get angry and send you to the very beginning of the board.

You clearly haven't gotten stuck in either corner of Space Land for half the board, given its high position, yet the strategy (and several options available to the player) involved in Woody Woods are straight-up ignored. Same thing with Goomba Lagoon. It's a great board where making bad decisions with bad timing can get you stuck on a small island for a couple turns, but that doesn't begin to ruin it and it's definitely a great board, despite the volcano not being what it could've been. And while Super Mario Party's somewhat flat-by-comparison board design is mostly trumped by that of Superstars and Jamboree, it's still not anywhere near bad enough where it would fall into any kind of 'MP with great minigames made unplayable by bad boards' chickensh!t.

I honestly hate Mario's Rainbow Castle. I love the way it looks, but there's only 2 branching paths and that's it. Plus, going back to the beginning after getting a star/ztar makes Mario's Rainbow Castle super linear. I would say it's worse than the Super Mario Party boards.

The Mario Kart board just sucks. It's too huge : there's 50 spaces, that's normally not a problem but when the board is basically a straight line it is a BIG problem. And this big problem become even bigger when you consider the only 2 possible stars locations... if you miss the star because of not being on the good path or someone (or yourself) lands on the green space, then you are scewed and you have to go thought 50 spaces again to get another chance to get a star. We are talking here about aproximatly 7-8 turns before the next star chance. People getting screwed in Mario Party is part of the fun, but in that case it's way too punishing and it become just frustrating. Items could be a solution to counter that, but there is only one shop and you can miss it if you land on the green spaces just before it ! You can also get items from the pit stop but you have to complete an entire lap first to enter it.... A lap is approximatly 50 spaces so it takes like 7-8 turns to complete a lap without items. If the game is only 15 turns, half of the game has passed when you enter the pit stop for the first time... If the games is only 10 turns, it's almost over and pretty much no one has a star... The specific item for this map is the quadruple dice, 100% luck based and it does not allow you to interract with anything when you use it. This board is just horrible, I am sorry but people praising it just because the idea is good makes me mad. The idea is good but the execution is bad. It could have been ok if the board was smaller , if there was another shop, or more item space, but in the current state the board is just not fun to play. It could be fixed if there was a way to cross the board faster that is not this stupid luck based quadruple dice, just like you can get across Horror Land with the rolling eye you could imagine a Bullet Bill from Mario Kart that allow you to go though half the board in exchange of 10 coins. I don't know exactly the solution but right now this board just sucks.

I really don't see why people like Rainbow Galleria so much. Its a decent board don't get me wrong, but it really suffers the most from the Jamboree economy and buddy mechanics imo. That and the bloated amounts of unskippable fluff animations really make the board play like a drag to me. They did nail the theme and the layout is really good too but it isn't the best imo.

I hate Western Land! Horrible board! They should have brought back Pirate Land instead! Also, it's pretty disappointing that nobody was dressed up in costumes like they were in Mario Party 2. However, that was also the case for Horror Land in Mario Party: All-Stars. I miss the costumes! Mario Party 2 is the only game to feature that! I believe the mall is also my favourite board in SMP: Jamboree! Awesome board! It has a lot going on in it!

Rainbow galleria works REALLY WELL with Pro Rules, because the game ends before you deal with the conflation. I would love it a bit more if the 1 coin shop was something else though.
