As a Tennesseean, yeah, our motto is really just a description of the state. We're like 60% farmland, 20% forests, and 20% Nashville, and Nashville is a major hub for like, Medical Tech businesses. So Agriculture and Commerce.

Me, a Virginian explaining Virginia’s motto: Virginia’s Motto is “Sic Semper Tyrannis,” which means “thus always to tyrants.” The Latin term is traditionally linked back to the Roman Republic, though the sources on it are lacking. However, the purpose behind it is to invoke the deposition of the tyrant - a king, usually - in order to asset the ideals of liberty and freedom from tyranny. This motto is coupled with the commonwealth’s seal, which depicts a figure that represents liberty standing overtop the defeated monarch, usually clad in ancient armor of the Greco-Roman style. Much of Virginia’s political history is based around the notion of founding a Republic much like the Roman Republic, which is why the Greco-Roman architectural style is commonplace in the commonwealth, especially with the political buildings. Even our Capitol Building is modeled after a Roman Temple in Carreé, France. So, it’s meant to invoke the prestige of Rome and represent the founding a new political order for the continent; a republic just like that of Ancient Rome. I've only been there once as it is an over 4 hour drive north of me despite living in NorCal myself up in Wine Country in Santa Rosa an hour north of San Francisco. Eureka does at least have something to do with California. Not literally nothing. I mean there at least is that town of Eureka so, yeah I think you dropped the ball on that one, but oh well. lol! Anyways just giving you a hard time. I know eureka means like "Wow! I found it!" In all seriousness that should mean here in California "Wow! I found a house for $500,000 and it's a complete dump.
