I grew up with the 2003 turtles and loved all their intros, but Rise of the TMNT slaps way too hard and I have so much respect for them releasing a full version. For me its: 1. Here are my 3 favorite openings. 3rd. TMNT 2003-I like the 2003 I grew up with the series and the opening was good well only 1-4 the rest I didn't like, like Fast Forward for example. Since people call 2003 TMNT the Batman the Animated Series of the TMNT Universe then supposedly Fast Forward is the Batman Beyond but didn't work out. 2nd. TMNT 2012-It maybe a rap version of the 1980s but it was still awesome. I find a lot of people calling 2012 tmnt the teen titans go of the tmnt universe but that isn’t true. 2012 may have silly moments but it also has dark moments like how shredder kill splinter or the rat king guy is a nightmare fuel and you don’t see those in teen titans go. 1st. TMNT 1980s-This one is the most iconic no matter what. The 1980s is what gave the Ninja Turtles the popularity it deserve if it wasn't for this series there wouldn't be a 2003, 2012 nor Rise of the TMNT. Even thought I saw the 2003 series first I got hook up with the 1980s thanks to some people that I knew, I didn't believe Turtles Forever version of the 1980s TMNT being stupid, whinny and cowardly I knew something was up since some people I knew watch the 1980s and told me how they were, once I started watching the original 1980s I realize that everything Turtles Forever depicted the 1980s TMNT was wrong.

I grew up on the 86 Turtles. And outdoing that original theme was a really tall order. But 2k3 probably matched it if not surpassed it. And most impressively, that they did it without being /a/ version of the older theme(which probably came down to not having the rights but let's not split hairs). That's impressive. I mean and I think it was a 4Kids type production so they even did it on a handicap!

Really solid list and as you asked here are my top 3 themes. 3. The Original 1987 theme - Sadly the art of theme song isn't really much of a thing even in kids shows nowadays due to wanting more time for ads and commercials thus even if you have something catchy chances are it will only be for 20 seconds. 30 if you're lucky/not on Cartoon Network. And though some can do that well the original TMNT having to lay down it's plot and the characters and build the hype for the team really needed that time. And it does really work. I admit I didn't grow up with the 80's show; I was baware of it but never saw like an ep (the first TMNT show I saw was next mutation though the first I was a fan of was 2003) so only discovered the intro years later and yeah I get why it drew so many people in. I'd argue there probably are better 80's intro (Thundercats for instance) but this is super catchy and fun with the right kind of epic action sadly sidelined in later seasons due to censorship BS and what not. Still really glad the first TMNT show had such a good theme. 2. Rise of the TMNT Theme- The 2012 show did a decent job doing a sort of rap remix of the original 1987 theme but Rise despite only being half as long not only does it faster but honestly does it better especially the part where you ehar the rise. I admit the full theme isn't as great as I thought but the actual regular theme is really solid and I appreciate this idea of hiaving this one take on an action scene and getting to showcase all the turtles new weapons and villains like that. Just really cool all around but the top of course is... 1. Back To The Sewers Theme - *Gasp* Someone likes this song as much as I do to name it their favorite TMNT intro? Never thought I'd see that but yeah virtual fist pound man *does virtual fist pound* This is so rocking and I didn't even watch that much of the Back to the Sewer season due to not really keeping up with the show as much halfway around the 4th season and still eventually needing to catch back up on that. Still this intro was really good and action packed and though the fulidity is better in Rise the music just sounds more epic and pleasing to me to yeah have to give it the number one spot.

I think I'm one of the few that actually likes the Fast Forward theme, it's not my favorite but it's in my top 5. Maybe it's because of the angle I came at it from, I binged a ton of TMNT, starting at most recent & working my way back so hitting FF was like a breath of fresh air which is kind of funny considering they were struggling to breath in the beginning of being in the future. It was nice taking a break & the theme song felt like a vacation in a weird way. They did show the villains for the season in the visuals so you at least got a taste for them & I enjoyed these villains a lot, it was nice having a different roster for a change. My top favorite is actually Rise's theme, even though it is short, it is the extended version that caused me to fall in love with it. I can listen to it on repeat without getting tired of it. Maybe I am a little bias, I did state that I started at most recent & worked my way backwards although I did know the 2003 theme before starting, I also knew the 87 theme (who doesn't?) but the 03 theme stuck out more to me. Close second favorite is the theme for 2003, while I do bunch up seasons 1-5 together, the slight lyric change in the 4th season does have me favoring it, specifically when you have Mikey saying "we shredded the Shredder!" At that point, I was sick of the Shredder, don't get me wrong, I like him in pretty much every iteration I've seen, even in 87 where he's a Saturday morning cartoon villain but it's just easy to get tired of him, I like variety & it was amusing having that line & when it switched to Karai saying "watch out for Shredder" I was disappointed because it reminded me of how much I don't like this Karai, suppose it came from watching the 2012 series before 2003 that helped shape my opinion of her but it's just easy to get annoyed with her 03 counterpart. Still like the lyric change enough to where I sat through the theme for every episode in seasons 4 & 5 where as I skipped it mostly in seasons 1-3, sat through it a few times in those seasons but that's it. That's just my take, can't argue yours, especially that I too very much like a lot of classic rock, I actually was wearing one of my Beach Boys shirts yesterday, seen them in concert a few times. When I first heard Rise's theme, I wasn't on board because it's not something that I'd typically enjoy or listen to, it was I guess a slow rise to enjoying & even favoring it. I like the seasons 1-5 theme of 03 because of that rock sound it has & it's more comforting, feels like a song I would of wanted to hear over & over & over again as a kid but I always had the weirdest taste in music, when I was a kid, my favorite Beach Boys song was Long Tall Texan, specifically the version sang with Doug Supernaw on the Stars & Stripes album & that song is very goofy so I've always been into odd music.

My thoughts: - I think it's worth mentioning that the Tales of the TMNT theme is largely an homage to the anime Cowboy Bebop, in terms of both the animation and music. - Perhaps it's MY growing up with the original TMNT, but the 1987 series theme is #1 in my book. Rise is second, because of the energy in both the music and animation. After that, oddly enough, is the Next Mutation original theme - the show may have been corny, but the song was an earworm (especially the "na-na-na-na-ninja" part). - None of the 2003 songs ever did much for me. The original theme felt a bit long, and I never wanted to sing along to it. I actually voted for a different song for BTTS when they had people vote; the one they wound up with seems forgettable to me. - I want to hear your ranking of the alternate BTTS songs; I wonder how my vote ranked!

Leo I grow up with the 80's turtles so my number one will always be the original theme but even that had two releases in the Uk as the very first aired theme it was Teenage mutant hero turtles and was changed to ninja in the middle of the first series.

My top 3 are 3. All the 2012 themes 2. Season 6 and 7 2003 theme 1. 2003 theme *note I've seen all these versions but these are the ones that stayed on my head since I started watching these shows when I was around 5 in 2009*

I love the tales of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles opening for the pure reason that it's super nostalgic of the cowboy Beebop opening in my opinion.
