@@thefreaks8926It depends. Some servants get stronger by no longer being held back by their human limits like Emiya who can copy most weapons as a servant. Others are held back like Diarmuid who is limited by his lancer class because most of his arsenal are not spears.

nah FSN Cu is goated. Cu fighting Gil for 12 hours and hitting Artoria with im not saving you i just hate him. On par with Emiya asking Rin if it’s okay if he beats Herc instead of just holding him off. Then proceeds to kill him 6 times sending illya spiraling . Damn you know what the fate route was pretty fucking good.

A lot of the early chapters seemed to be there more like a compilation of character highlights for the hodgepodge of servant they had at the start. The more they checked the servant list, the more they were able to have freedom and fun with what they could do with story, eventually culminating with Babylonia in my opinion which was pure fun.

Story wise, my ranking is: 9. Septem 8. Okeanos 7. Fuyuki 6. Solomon 5. America 4. Orleans 3. London 2. Camelot 1. Babylonia Like I said in my other post, up until Babylonia, a lot of the stories feel more like character highlights than actual stories. Fuyuki was just "hey look, it's Fate!" and didn't really get me. Thankfully Orléans was right after and I agree that if it was done today it would most likely be 100 times better. I really like the fact that you are travelling with Jeanne, retracing her journey basically. Martha was my first 100 servant, I really love that they made a local legend like her a 4* and reinterpreted her legend in that way (she actually reminds me a lot of my sister in how she struggles with how she wants to appear, vs how her solution is more often than not to beat the shit out of things). Okeanos to me suffered from the hodgepodge because it was clear that they used the servants they had at the time (+ fanservice with Medea Lily) to make the first pseudo Argonauts. Everything was quite forgetable there outside of the first hint at Jason actually being a more complex dude than first thought. I actually love when shitty character reveal another side of them that make you reconsider them. Septem, also hodgepodge, really disappointed by Romulus being just a 3*, and I think even Lasengle got it when they decided to remake him as Romulus/Quirinus without even having the 3* be the base template in favour of Caligula. Altera also comes out of nowhere and Boudica is just... there, she doesn't really have anything that allows her to shine, same with the berserkers. London was interesting for the fact you already highlighted. It was an Apocrypha/EXTRA fanservice kind of arc, also weird how you have in quick succession Kintoki and Tamamo (probably for Japan fanservice), Tesla and Lancer Artoria (version 1.0?), like what was the deal with that? America... is where I think they have the first real attempt at reconciling the hodgepodge nature of the game with an actual story, problem is that it goes too fast and Cu is just pure fanservice for those who wanted a 5* Cu (and in the end they probably decided to buff into 5* the actual Cu). Camelot is where I think the amount of hodgepodge vs story balance shifts toward a very strong story. It's the first time we actually see original new servants for the Round Table with Bediviere, Tristan, Gawain and actual Lancelot (!!!), which in my mind all lived up to the hype. I really like that the game actually challenges you with them, making them actual menaces. I also liked the reframing of the Assassins as these protectors of the local muslim populations, even though I don't think DW at the time quite realized the implication the scenario had in light of Palestine current history. Ozymandias/Nitocris were... neat, even though I really didn't like a the time the subservience of Nitocris to Ozy. The ending was also very poetic I felt so in the end it was the first arc that made me feel like playing FGO for the story was worth it. Babylonia... was not toppled quality wise until LB5 in my opinion. Everything about it was epic. Like you said, the length of the story actually served to highten the stakes. I was more involved into the Gilgamesh servants than any of the other groups before, I found Ishtarin actually very interesting in how she wasn't quite Rin nor pure-Ishtar, making it an interesting character that held on its own, even if you don't know either originals. Quetz was so badass, and Rei Hiroe design for her is so good. We also actually got Merlin who quite lived up to the hype and disappointment if that makes sense lol. And Tiamat, god that's the first antagonist I actually felt like was a real menace, and the fact that the solution was not a miracle chekov's gun but an actually deeply thought out plan, with some of the strongest servant in history all fighting at their max to if only hold her back was so cool. I gotta say, Solomon after that didn't hit hard enough for me because the Babylonia final battle set the quality too high I felt.
@minisnakali

Why did you rank Solomon so low? Personally I liked it a lot so I'm curious what you felt was lacking in it 😮
@LadCarmichael
@LadCarmichael Жыл бұрын
@@minisnakali I basically didn't vibe with it much for several reasons. Like I said in my post, a lot of Arc 1 suffers from the hodgepodge of characters that "have" to be present for them to have their spotlight. Solomon is a succession of that, you highlight all the servants you saw through your journey but in doing so it doesn't have the time to tell their story or it's own story correctly I feel. + the dialogue quality was really not that good, it reminded me of Endgame interaction in how short and obviously fanbaiting it was. And the Vn nature of the game felt that it was supposed to be more epic than it ended up being. Goetia himself was not that bad, that's why the arc is not at the bottom, but he also suffers from the obvious change of direction Nasu decided upon once LB was greenlit. You still have a mix of maniachally evil while trying to be more relatable to his motivation, which I didn't find was done very well. The final Ristuka vs Goetia fight was really emotionally engaging tho I have to say.

I'm almost positive the randomness of the early singularities was this arbitrary requirement to show off all the gacha characters you could roll for, sorted into each singularity. It's the only reason I can think of as to why Tamamo Cat is in the story at all. She literally shows up on Stheno's island all "AND IM HERE TOO" and the story just ignores her after that. And they do go out of their way to include every playable servant in the game somewhere in the story beyond Tamamo Cat. Stheno herself is second place for most pointless appearance. Artoria Lancer Alter is probably a bigger detriment to the story since not only does her appearance in London not add anythign significant to the story other than someone Mordred can figth, but is an early spoiler for Lancer Artoria in Camelot. They even bothered to shove Nero Bride into Septem even though she doesn't do much aside from the failed assassination attempt, not to mention Liz showing up in _three_ separate Singularities and barely does anything in any of them. No wonder the only singularities with an anime adaptation are Fuyuki, Camelot, Babylon, and the Temple of Time, since everything else just felt like filler.

For my part my Favorite chapter of part one is Camelot for completly different reasons that ZTL. For starters I liked the Lion king idea, she was like: "I am a god now, I dont give a fuk about humans but I need them to continue existing, I not gonna fight Goetia coz I might die but I have to preserve humanity somehow, so I will get the purest souls of human I can get my hand on and just pin them on my pinboard so everybody else can look at them and say ah humans they did exist". We dont even beat Lion King what I especially liked, in story Bedevir just go in 1000% burn his own soul to damage Rongo and gives Lion King Excalibur back to just remind her of the true worth of human life. For me this was Merlins plan all along he basically he saw Lion King and what shes doing and thought this is a perfect opportunity to finally put Bedevir out of his misery and at the same time give him the redemption hes so desperate wants. There were only 2 part in camelot that I didnt like The First part was how they introduced Agravain and I think his character was great in Camelot. My problem was with how Mash and Roman and other people that are supposed to be not biased information people described him, because they described him as the reason for Camelot downfall. I still remember it somehow it went something like "Agravain, his the knight that damaged round table the most since he uncovered and exposed romance between Lancelot the mightiest knight and King Arthurs wife he even tried to arrest Lancelot like a lolay knight would witch resulted in Lancelot killing Gareth and running away with Gwenevere what sparked the internal conflict between Knights of the round. So Agravain is basically responsible for everything bad that happened to Camelot ever". I always failed to see what part of this was Agravains fault The second part was Lancelot, Lancelot is actually my least favorite of the knights and at the start of the story they will give him a character ark when his guilt forces him to do everything Lion Kings demands in hope of redemption since his berserker self is becisly Lancelot tortured by the grief of his own actions and desire to just punishment to the point of madness. Then Lancelot could learns that being a knight of the round is not all about following King but also that in times of need you have to help steer your King in the right direction and share their burden. But nope later in the story Lancelot was like "My King the person I admire the most, the person that at one point I wanted nothing more that to fight in their army, I Lancelot am always down to betray and backstab that person, so I secretly was saving people that I was supposed to kill AND trained them so they can be my personal army against my King. I even saved your friend(Da'vinci) after you tried to raid the castle since I find her/his body hot and thats all the reason I need to betray my King. And now You even give me great opportunity to backstab my King again so lets go." That was my impression of Lancelot in Camelot story. I decided to not write in length about what I liked in Camelo since this little tangent about 2 thing I didnt liked is already way too long. But to make it super short basically everything else about Camelot story was ok with me

Yeah, London was easily the worst of all of them by far. The enemies were one-offs with no expansions upon their characters. Mordred is as evasive as ever without any real development or expansion upon her character. I really don’t understand the Mordred appeal. I mean she’s fine, but I feel like they keep missing opportunities to expand upon her character in meaningful ways. Caenis is honestly just a better Mordred at this point. The only notable thing about London was the introduction of Solomon, but I feel like the rest of the arc suffered just for that one reveal.

I have never seen any other Fate Property at all FGO is the only thing i know of fate. 1. Babylonia-for obvious reasons 2. Camelot- I felt the pacing was really solid and good 3. London- it was a huge step up from okeanos and just i loved mordred and solving the mysteries in london it was fun adventure 4. Final- was really cool and fun but I think as someone who started during 5th ani. the final servants that come you go who the hell are these and you are just confused there is a lot of fun but i think bringing characters from events not their best idea since newer players dont have any attachment to these servants and when you know every other servant there it comes off very disjointed. 5. America- I hated Nightingale she just was grating she just didnt work as the main partner from that singularity. Cu Alter and Melb were cool. Arjuna was just there and same with karna both were cool though. Beowulf and Rama and sita were also pretty fun. I was sick of Elizabeth she was ok the first time around but her and kiyohime were super annoying. 6. Orleans- was a fun what if story if another jeanne alter came and just wanted revenge overall was fun 7. Fuyuki- got the ball rolling it was ok a solid intro and set the stage 8. Septem- I agree septem fell flat but it at least felt like it was trying to tell a nero growing into her own as a ruler story which was cool seeing her pass trial after trial. 9. Okeanos- this was just a mess of a story FGO at its worst. Drake was ok didnt love her but i didnt hate her like nightingale. Eurale and Asterios were ok as well Asterios sacrifice was sad. the whole blackbeard thing was creepy, weird and just not intimidating at all. and i totally forgot about bonny and anne. Jason was the most underwhelming final villain. David is like oh hey yeah im here and i have the ark of the covenant. atalanta made sense and for some reason not working with jason and hercules and medea lily for some reason. oh yeah jason turns into a demon pillar. just the whole story was a god aweful mess. If they ever do redo the 1st 5 singularities i would like to see them redo okeanos the most.

I’m going to agree with your list. Personally, America was my second fav behind Babylonia, if only because it was the first time we feel, actually, feel the impact of losing servants in a singularity. Billy and Robin? Pure gold. Cu Alter? A beast! The hodgepodge of servants didn’t bother me, because, it was America, the future melting pot of the world. It wasn’t baffling to have heavy Celtic, English, or Indian influences in the mix, dueling it out for the fate of America. Robin Hood? A folk hero that actually inspired Billy the Kid in life. The lion for Edison? Because of MGM and Edison himself. Even the brief moment we have with Geronimo and Billy, talking about their thoughts and emotions on the future of the Native Americans, was well done. There were such wonderful hints and nods all throughout that made me love it. To me, Camelot was long, drawn out, and the story was hampered by very gimmicky focused fights. There were amazing spots in it, Ozymandias for one was a chef kiss, but it just lacked something for me. While Solomon gave me chills of giddiness, Babylonia was perfection.

Mine would go like this: 1) Babylonia - this should be obvious as to why. 2) Solomon - perfect way to wrap up the first arc of the story. Everything from Mash's sacrifice leading up to Ritsuka throwing hands with a Beast was just awesome. The anime adaptation, while not perfect, actually portrayed the final fight much better than the game. 3) Camelot - this one shouldn't need too much explanation. The story actually starts being properly fleshed out beginning with this Singularity, which also gives us the game's first major difficulty spike. 4) Fuyuki - a fine prologue chapter for this game's main story. What more needs to be said? 5) London - the one saving grace about this Singularity is "Mage King Solomon" literally using the bathroom on our Servants at the end. And no, I didn't make that up; the in-game dialogue hints at this exact description. 6) E Pluribus Unum - nice to see an early-American era Singularity, but the whole cross-country treks don't make any sense given that the continental USA is a couple thousand miles wide. How long did we spend here, exactly...? 7) Orleans - dragons, dragons, and did I mention DRAGONS? That and Jeanne Alter's introduction to the game are the only reasons why this one isn't rock-bottom. 8) Okeanos - refer to the video for this one, because I ain't wasting time with it. 9) Septem - same advice as with Okeanos.
@Talyrion

If I had to rank the main part 1 chapters... To the surprise of no-one, Septem is last. It actively made me like Nero less, the story is mostly pointless, Boudica and Spartacus are basically shat upon, Alexander and Waver are just here for a clusmy moment of fanservice, Altera shows up too late and vanishes too soon... Honestly, I feel like the story could have been better had they flipped the conflict on its head : have the enemies of Rome - Boudica and Spartacus, get someone like Hannibal or Vercingetorix, maybe a Remus or a Brutus for a touch of civil war - try to change history. Maybe a bit too gray morality for early FGO, I suppose. Controversial pick, but I'd put America in sixth position. Maybe it was because I was going through the part 1 chapters all at once back then, but America was the point I really was exasperated with the writing. Nightingale is good, maaaaybe Edison (but then again, why a lion?). Everyone else? Completely wasted, in my opinion. Scathach is incredibly disappointing, Cu Alter is the blandest villain we got, Arjuna and Karna are... there, I guess, Liz and Nero are there because reasons, Rama is just here for the ride... Even Medb is positively boring compared to all her future appearances. So yeah, I know some people actually argue that Amrica is the first good chapter, but I really, really didn't like it. Fifth and fourth are a tie between London and Okeanos. I kind of rank them at the same level, but for different reasons. Okeanos... is okay. It's not incredibly good, it's not incredibly bad either. Drake is cool. I actually liked Jason as an antagonist. Euryale and Asterios were pretty cute. Didn't care much for Blackbeard here (he definitely made up for it later), and wasn't a fan of their portrayal of artemis & Orion, but nothing terrible. On the other hand, London is a mess. It's objectively pretty poorly written, but there's a few redeeming moments - mostly Solomon appearing kicking the plot into overdrive, and Sherlock being set-up for the future. Third is Orleans, mostly because it has the most cohesive story from the early chapters - it's just buried in filler moments. It has too many characters with nothing to do - especially on the antagonist side, but the core of it - the conflict between Jeannes, Mash's early journey through singularities - actually works pretty well. Also, yeah, Jalter simp here, I admit it. I didn't expect liking her that much, but I really liked the twist of her being entirely fictional, and her trying to claw back an existence for herself in response. It's hard to rank the main two chapters, but I think I'd put Babylonia in 2, and Camelot in 1. To copypaste a comment I made once... On one hand, I'd say Camelot has the better story. Most of the characters go through their own emotional journey, all tying together at the end. While the threat of the Lion King is certainly not negligible in itself, the primary conflict for everyone is internal, everyone having to confront their own weaknesses, past sins, deficiencies, ect. It also moves the story as a whole forward, bringing in quite a lot of elements that will reappear later. All in all, it's a very cohesive chapter, and I'm pretty hopeful about the upcoming anime adaptation. On the other hand, Babylonia has the better execution. No Battle nodes, truly impressive battlefield backgrounds, field effects, dialogue choices that impact the battle, and all of that to the service of an epic adventure that keeps ramping up the stakes. As a story, when you look at the individual parts, it can be a little disjointed, and I might go as far as saying the chapter sometimes has a tone problem, flipping a little too easily at times between humour and drama. But the story keeps escalating everything, while throwing one larger-than-life character after another relentlessly, ending in a truly epic battle. At least, that's my take on it. I don't think there's a wrong answer when it comes to choosing one or the other as your favourite singularity, it depends on what you value more.

Ok, that's it, I'm rioting. Most of your opinions are fine, but I cannot abide by London being placed as high as it is. MAYBE just above Septem I could accept, but above OKEANOS!?! My dude, London is complete trash. My experience with Fate before playing it was pretty much just the anime for UBW, HF, and Zero, but I hate that it was my first introduction to Tamamo and Hans. Tamamo is basically just there to say, "look guys it's Tamamo! You like her don't you?", and Hans just was not on his A game. None of his interactions with other characters stand out to me except for maybe Goetia, but even then I just remember it being okay rather than any of it's contents. Otherwise, Mordred is alright, but the chapter wastes like 95% of its cast. That was Zolgen Makiri you had trouble remembering there, AKA young Zouken Matou. They literally had Zouken as a Demon Pillar, but he was so wasted most people don't even remember he's in the chapter. Tesla's "modern prometheus" shtick is alright, but still he's in and out like most of the singularity's villains. And of course, probably the biggest waste of potential in all of Fate, Lalter. Such an interesting concept, King Arthur as leader of the Wild Hunt, who altered herself in order to avoid becoming goddess Rhongomyniad, and she basically shows up to fight Mordred, get's fucked up, and dies, never to be seen in another story beyond her brief cameo in Olympus for some reason and occasionally to be a walking big booba joke. Literally every character came out of Septem better than she did; Nero has all of Extra and her role as a beast to lean on, Caesar frequently shows up for antics with commerce servants, roman emperors, and Cleopatra, Caligula got his appearance in Olympus, Romulus got to be Grand Lancer, Boudica gets to be on the kitchen staff, Spartacus got Apocrypha and SIN, Darius (probably the weakest Septem character, but there's a reason we don't get roaring berserkers any more) has interludes featuring his rivalry with Iskandar, Waver and Alexander frequently show up in events, and Altera has Extella, a Santa variant, and civilization memes (if I understand correctly, Septem was released before Extella, so that might have contributed to her lacking appearance in the singularity). Lalter has jack shit, just the generic "there's an evil version of me" interlude most early servants got. Between her and the waste of Zouken, London is just an absolute bottom tier chapter as far as I'm concerned, compounded with all of its other problems of course. Goetia's reveal is not enough to save it.
