Ranking FGO Saber Final Ascensions

Gilles' final ascension is quite thoughtful. It shows him in despair right after Jeanne was betrayed and executed. The devil is more closer as its whispering while the angel is a bit further away, almost as if its going away. For those who don't know, GIlles saw Jeanne as the embodiment of good and the virtue of God in the war in a time where there was sin and bloodshed everywhere due to the Hundred Years War. Jeanne differed from the other soldiers as she refused to see her enemies as inhuman monsters. But when Jeanne died, Gilles lost his faith in God and Humanity and resorted to evil. He was executed simply because some other nobles coveted his wealth and used his crimes to conveniently get rid of him.

You know, it's highly likely Giles de Rais didn't commit those crimes. They did an unoffical retrial in 1992 and he was found innocent. There was no physical evidence for his crimes and pretty much all the major players involved had an ulterior motive, such as pro-English judges and as you said nobles who coveted his wealth/land. Even the testimonies were strangely identical almost as if they were fabricated. On top of that his list of crimes simply seems fictitious, it's as if someone just listed off all the worst crime they could think about and levied them against Gilles de Rais. Funnily enough he could probably have the trait of Innocent Monster.

I’ve been thinking for a while that I wish they would put Grail Ascension art into the game as well. Since canonically every servant wants a grail and that’s the focal point of the story I feel like it would be a great reward for grailing a servant or grailing to 100

I like to think that Jason’s final ascension is what he wants and that he would have had Medea and herakles his right/left hands For Lancelot I think it might have been the first time he joined artoria’s army since when he entered artoria’s court he had white armour being the white knight but in the movie and in zero his armour was purple

I just realized that Salter's 4th ascension art is her wearing a black version of the dress Caster forced her to wear in UBW. If you look closely it's not the same as in the 3rd ascension.

Base Saber, I think, suffers from casualties of being a mascot. Though I think her FA should be her sitting under the tree she (supposedly) died under after the Battle of Camlann. Sigfried's should either be him after his battle with Fafnir. Or, him with his back towards you, looking over his shoulder while showing you his weak spot in a sign of trust.

The biggest problem with final ascension art is generally males get more clothes and women get less. You don't have to Nero Bride the guys😏🍹, but just make them more casual or off guard. This makes Fergus and even Gilles better than just the pose Arthur etc. Also that opening makes it sound like you need the Baka, Baka, Baka alert from Danganronpa😏🍹

It’s less a tier list about art quality but more of how well the art shows off the character (with some bias). I also think that Male Arthur and Artoria Lily’s FAs are super nice looking, but I agree that they’re pretty generic and could have been more interesting. Maybe think of it this way. Any character who wields a sword could be drawn in Arthur or Lily’s FA pose but FAs like Giles and Fergus are pretty unique to them. It shows off what kind of character they are and that’s why they’re ranked higher.

TiL Medb has penguin in her first ascension. And I'm real happy that you praised Saito's FA. I like it quite a bit. But I also feel as though your criteria for good FAs is nonsensical. So many of the placements are in the middling tiers due to your explanation of them being "just a pose" which is strange to me because poses can be dynamic, static and/or still portray a Servant's personality (some better than others) and I feel like many more do that than what you've put down Then also paying some attention to the background more than others sounds odd because of how some serve to enhance FAs better than others. Setanta's for example is looking down on the viewer showcases the superiority and confidence that's more prevalent when he's older while also being in a glowing forest makes it quite neat vs. Saito's very similar pose that emphasizes shading and how he's relaxing in his gear despite staring up at the camera gives you a neat clue to his personality. I think your analysis of Gilles was best. TL;DR, I liked listening to your opinions here. I think they're fun and insightful. Though I simply feel you could be a touch more critical/praiseworthy towards FAs.

Panther is just another name for big cat. Jaguars are panthers, Lions are panthers, Tigers are panthers and Leopards are panthers, they are all of the Panthera family aka Big Cats. Pumas/Mountain Lions/Cougars are not Panthera, they are Felinae aka Felines. The misconception comes from the fact that in some regions Pumas are called Panthers because Cougars live literally fucking everywhere in the Americas and thus have a billion names across several languages, and the Panther name was one they were stuck with.

the AI on the pv thing is really stupid...... cause for context The thing that they claim was AI was the PV of ordeal call 1 of the scene with Rani the thing is, I dont think its AI cause it has clear designs from one outfit to another that I dont think you can get AI to follow and secondly, I think they DID perposely make it look like ai animation cause guess what? shes an AI
