Hey guys! As you can see, I'm still uploading content here, but some of my videos are bigger in scope, and I try to make them the best I can, which means they can take a while. If you weren’t aware, I do upload a less formal, exclusive video every single month to my patreon. That’s a backlog of 80+ videos at the moment, and all tiers get access to all of them. If joining doesn’t make sense for you, that’s no problem! I’m so lucky to already have the amount of support I do over there. But it’s an option that’s available to you if you find the waits between public videos difficult. I get new patrons all the time saying they wish they’d known about it sooner, so this is me letting everyone know! So there! & please stop telling everyone I'm dead 😬 www.patreon.com/JennyNicholson

This video just got a glowing review in the New York Times!!! My favourite quote from the article: "Nicholson is a great storyteller, even in Twi’lek head-tails and a Rodian beanie. She lands somewhere between a friend letting you in on some great gossip and a Homerian poet of 21st-century pop culture, engaging in the oral traditions of the ancients, only the subject is theme parks and “Star Wars.”"

This could be the most important review video ever made. Bob Iger should be forced to watch it Clockwork Orange style, eye clamps and all.
@keedybrown2007
@keedybrown2007 4 күн бұрын
Bob Iger IS the PROBLEM. When he hired Chapek, he said that he (Iger), was going to step back and "focus on the stories" (I'm not kidding). 4-5 years later, Disney storytelling has collapsed and spiraling. Listen, when Ryan Reynolds can savage his OWN sequel in the trailer (which is advertising) for the actual film, with a QR code that leads to him being deadpan serious that the "story is as paperthin it would give Battlefield: Earth 2 a run for its money", you know there are problems. But we knew that already! Bob Iger got away for years with incompetence because he allowed Pixar to be run by Pixar people, and early Marvel (Phases 1-3) had capable leadership, but he can't control himself and goes back to the equivalent of "direct to video sequels" of established IP. He's a conman except now we see through the con.

My family knows one of the Captain actresses quite well from our hometown community theater. Her story is heartbreaking of what she ultimately went through to relocate across the country to take the job, the hours & wages, and now she works as a regular cast member in retail at WDW, as that is what she was offered post-closure. She’s absolutely one of the sweetest people, I wish all the best for her but I know that she basically had her dreams shattered it seems by the whole endeavor. I can understand why they'd try to discourage it if, like Jenny theorizes, the actors were being relayed info based on the guest's booking information when interacting with them, but that could have been so simply mediated by offering an option when booking that says "For the duration of this experience, I prefer to be called..." so guest's could offer their larping names to be fed to the actors instead.

Man, for $4,000, my family of four stayed in Okinawa for a week, and it just didn’t feel like we had enough time to do everything, there is so much! But what we managed to squeeze in was attending two festivals, went to a beautiful aquarium, the Blue Cave, made our own shisa dogs from a local potter, made beautiful sea glass and coral nightlights, visited a pokemon center, and then got to try on traditional clothing from a family business which led us to being invited to a bbq. The money covers the flight, accommodations, some meals, transportation between the cities, and the guided tours. I doubt I'll be spending $1.3k on additional food/souvenirs/experiences during my stay, but if I do and spend a total of $6k on the trip, that means I'm spending an average of $666.66 per day, which is an astronomically better deal than ANYTHING Disney has to offer.

I was a (full fare) guest on Galactic Starcruiser, and this review is 100% spot on. The game participation was contrived; your actions were irrelevant. This was apparent from the first moment. It just didn't work as anything except a unique hotel with unique food. By the time we visited, there were no food options in the bar, and the guitar player who romanced the alien never appeared. (Or I don't remember him; neither does anyone in my family. Maybe he was out sick?) That said, we had a fun time. Our favorite moment: when I was overheard by our breakfast server describing the bad guy Lieutenant as a "bad boy hottie." Our server broker character and cracked up. So we have memories of a wacky Disney experience that failed. That's not so bad, in the end, just for the laugh factor. But I didn't return home recommending it to our friends.

But this morning the New York Times had a glowing review of Jenny’s video (I guess the times reviews youtube videos now), so I decided to watch it and it’s just fantastic. There are so many comments under this video that I doubt Jenny will ever see mine, but if she does, I want her to know that this is a video worthy of a great magazine piece. I wish the New Yorker had more stuff like this. Great work!

i dont know how it isnt grounds for immediate refund. Here in Australia if any business fuks around like that a quick complaint is made and its sorted, fairly quickly (light speed vs other bureaucratic process). A big company like Disney doing this , i dont understand how that flies. Maybe in US you dont have good gov departments behind you, and have to self litigate. But then i dont understand how this behavior isnt broadcasted and absolutely smashed. The only goal or direction disney seems ot have at the moment is lterraly inserting women into everything. Ddi you notice the podcast section of the video? 30 women, 5 men. i paused on a still of a bar scene in one of the concept marketing, of the identifiable sex (some indistinct aliens) 13 women, 3 men. WTF? im not up to date with all marvel and teen drama, but i saw the cartman south park episode with Kathleen Kennedy and 'put a chick in it and make it lame'. JFC , i didnt think reality would be beyond parody. Maybe women are the target audience? but to that degree?? Seriously, black women seem to be the target. go count. I would have thought it would be run of the mill families (of all backgrounds), but 100% laser focus on trying to direct an audience of a vagina monologues critical race theory latte session to a sci-fi family theme park instead.

I can't believe the "interaction" was playing a phone app. I thought the whole point was to interact with the actors. The actors could simply have handed out two cent RFID access cards, and it would have added a whole aspect (collecting souvenirs, trading access cards with other guests, etc)

That was the most shocking thing to me. In the beginning of the video I felt dismissive towards the guests in the footage as they had their cell phones out the whole time. I thought to myself "Why would you have your cellphone out at all times at such an interactive experience?" Well, I got my answer. If I wanted to play on an app on my phone I could just do that at home. The cherry on top has to be that the app was glitchy as all hell and likely had spaghetti code. The kim possible flip phone made more sense because it was all the same phone with all the same preprogrammed things.

I absolutely love the energy of just going from pretty tame costumes/outfits to point 11 without anything else about the video and it's tone changing.

Jenny having a bad experience at a theme park is so funny to me. She is like the most enfranchised theme park enjoyer that will actively engage with the park and how it is marketed, if you can't give her a good experience, you shouldn't have a theme park

For real. Her trying to be all interactive and supportive of the marketing and then the employees looking at her like she’s having a schizo episode is so sadly funny

the fact that Jenny paid $169 to receive guaranteed photos of a very expensive vacation and did not receive ANY photos, and was then refused a refund until she posted about it online is ridiculous. Thinking about the guests who never got that refund... Disney doesn't care about the customer experience if they get to just siphon money. Doesn't make me want to visit.

"It is unique" is the worst argument in favour of the Starcruiser, imho. It is absolutely not unique to participate in what is essentially a scavenger hunt, to sleep two nights in a cramped hotel, to eat buffet-style all inclusive at a hotel, to have themed nights at hotels, to go to an amusement park during your vacation, to play an RPG or Escape Room scenario, or to go to an interesting show or theater. I guarantee that you can do all of these things combined at a much lower price point AND will have much more fun while you do them than at Disney. All the rest of the money goes to mediocre set dressing. PLEASE just organise Star Wars night with friends at your place, I promise you will be much more fulfilled.

As bad an experience Jenny had, I'm weirdly glad she did, because if it didn't happen to her then it would've happened to others and their voice and experience would've gone unheard - like being sat behind the pole, if Jenny had been given good seats then the plight of the poor sods who were seated behind them would've gone unnoticed!

what's missing from the dinner show is the production. it's just minimal lighting. Add some simple moving head lights, fog machine, choreography with more performers or dancers and you already have a way better show than what was seen.
