Winston's career arc is kinda depressing. Payton had him playing at an incredible level until his ACL got shredded. Dude was 5-2 in 2021 throwing to guys who are perennial practice squad members or specialists with a 14 TD to 2 INT ratio. I crunched the numbers and no QB for the Saints that season generated better numbers throwing to those same guys. More completions due to more games played, but their yards per catch all dropped. I loathed Winston when he was with the Bucs but he took his time with Payton and Brees seriously and Dennis Allen screwed him in 2022 after he healed from injuries suffered in the first game of the season. It's fitting that his last play in the black and gold was stomping on the throat of the hated Falcons in a blowout.
