The figures are awesome. I wonder how much will they expand on the D&D theme. Its a shamed Lego gave up on their Castle theme the way it use to be. An occasional $300+ set is not considered embracing the castle theme.

I totally agree. I miss the days when we could count on castle outposts or small packs with 4 castle Minifigures. I'm happy that we're back to getting something for castle (NEXO Knights were dark days) but it would be so much better with some cheaper sets

The Lady of Pain is the most challenging one to modify, but the headpiece could work for an Orc Greatmother, or a Naga Sea Witch. The body is great for any sorceress hero unit.

Yeah the possibilities for special unit creation are wild for the Lady of Pain. I definitely want to make an orange sorcerer since it's such a striking/unique color

I want to make some monster units for my own Brikwars armies with the Lady of Pain mask using sand green pieces that act as sort of sentient iron maiden constructs, floating tombs of blades with chains that grab units and pull them inside.

Wow that idea is inspired. Are you thinking of using the Statue of Liberty minifigures with the Lady of Pain mask?

Agreed! It would be great to have a D&D set less than $300 like a mimic encounter or beholder

I disagree with the rankings on the elf bard. My gf and I are actually hunting them along with Dragonborn, Tashas, and Tieflings, for the sheer mixing potential. It's easy to find weapons and armors, but new ELF EARS are not as easy to find. Girlfriend already made a hero character with the hair (Young Lumia from LEGO Elves theme), and the hairless remains can be used for swashbucklers, sailors, traders and vagabonds (pants alone tell a story on their own), and for you LEGO purists you can use the torso for a LEGO Venti the Bard, instead of buying a custom one. Tasha is also a very inspiring figure. Yes, maybe not an "army of witches" (though you can give their hats to other characters), but give her the extra knives from the Gith Warlock, or the rapier from the elf, and she can be a base for a cool assassin/rogue/swashbuckler unit. Tieflings are also very mixable: the head and tail piece work great with the bard legs, with the vampire body, leaving its own body to be used for sorcerers of other races (like an elven sorceress with Aira's hair from LEGO Elves looks great with this look). The Arakokra mixes well with the druid parts and the paladin parts (though not the armor, but it allows you to showcase the tabard on a unit it fits quite well).

Totally fair, I guess it's my own personal biases showing through that I have a preference for yellow minifigures so to me the gith pointy ears are great for making a more "classic" elf custom minifigure. But you're totally right that elf hairpieces have been super hard to find. And honestly all of the minifigures in this series are incredible, I'm really looking forward to seeing how all of these pieces get mixed and used to make original characters or MOCs
