Whats the best Martial Arts style?? Well, in this video.. I go based off of what you all think that I left out! We talk about the effectiveness of some incredible styles like Sanda, Sumo, Sambo, Savate, Silat, Systema, Shin Kicking, Street Fighting, and other S words... Oh yea, don't forget Kalaripayattu, Ninjitsu, Pankration, Judo, Kickboxing, Parkour, and Hapkido!! This list had a bit more wrestling involved in it, and because of that it inevitably ranked much lower... Kidding, some of these styles are incredibly good at giving you combat value for sport or for self defense. Some of these styles I would definitely say are more recreational Martial Arts though.. which is fine! We talked about some of the kickboxing styles like savate, sanda and more, along with the brutal style of Sambo, which is what Khabib trains! Sanda has put out some awesome fighters like Weili Zhang and Cung Le! Also, we talk about some of the more obscurely silly styles like Russian Slap Fighting and Shin Kicking.. surprised that was on there to be honest, don't do these if you want to learn how to fight! We also talk about how Hapkido and Karate are fairly similar, how Capoeira and Kalaripayattu have a similar history, and how Kickboxing isn't a style, just a blanket term!!
In the last video I talked about the more mainstream styles like karate, taekwondo, muay thai, bjj, jeet kun do, capoeira, kung fu, krav maga, wrestling and more!
You can find that here. • RANKING Martial Arts S...

Parkour is about getting somewhere via the fastest route, if you can't catch someone then no matter how good you are at your style you can't do anything to them . (I guess you can say the same thing about track but that's not a martial art) you get too live for another day that's a win in my book.

@@kidvasto3869 How come you decided to combine it with Kenjutsu? I don't see how they'd go hand in hand tbh. Kenjutsu primarily teaches you to handle japanese weapons, which weapons exactly depends on the respective style you picked. If you want something that goes well with taekwondo i'd recommend Boxing or Muay Thai. But what i actually recommend you is, instead of already deciding what to combine, you should settle and focus on one art at the beginning and get proficient in it. Later on you can an additional style to complement.

@dennisthemenace8168
@dennisthemenace8168 Жыл бұрын
@@ranchan8361 I did Systema when I was a kid and I can tell you it's crap. Too much blah blah blah on the physics, vectors and stuff which is cool at start and in theory sounds very powerful :), but in reality u don't learn much else but how to take punches ;) And then one day you realize that it's all BS and simply a con. Just like you have those chi masters who can defeat any opponent by waving their hand in the air, same goes for Systema, a circus act where the almighty master can defeat 10 people by simply turning and moving away (applying the omnipotent vector physics) resulting in all of his opponents mysteriously falling to the ground. The only positive thing I've learned from Systema, is my understanding of how Bruce Lee did his 1 inch punches, including that famous punch that sent a guy flying away and landing on a chair which then also moved quite a distance. And that understanding also diminished Bruce Lee for me too, since I could do that stuff at the age of 13. So yeah, one positive take away from the Systema - you start by moving your back(hip I think, my English isn't perfect) where u have so many muscles that can generate power, then follow by shoulder, into the fist, punch(but really just do follow through push ;) ), vuala... I could push a grown up man twice my size same way Bruce Lee did. So, it's not really 1 inch punch he performed, but 1 inch push, hence, the act also stinks a bit like Systema does ;) but it fooled lots of people over the years. Ok, I lied, there was just one more good thing I learned, so I guess you could waste a lesson or two on it just to realize some facts of physics, which might not naturally come to our mind - that is applying your weight can be a very strong factor no matter how much you actually weight, in other words you may not need to apply lots of strength, just put your weight on it ;) well, I guess that sums it up for the Systema.

I took Ninjitsu for about 4 years as a teenager. It has a lot of merit for submissions, striking and escapes/rolls since it's just a branch of Jiu-jitsu but I agree I think the average dojo would do a poor job teaching it if you just walked into a random one. I may give it as much merit as parkour as far as fight survival and bump it to D, but this is your personal list.

I am not a Kali practitioner, but super interested in your evaluation. In theory it seems to be very effective, pragmatic and relatively complete. I don't know how well the theory translates into reality and how big the variability between groups is. I once trained in a Kali place and at least they seemed pretty capable, but they also seemed to cross train a lot.

@@vulpertinger2309 I've done some kali classes. It's fun. Has some value. There is equipment for sparring safely. Various strikes, disarms, and sweeps. Though I wasnt able to continue classes to get far. And though they use sticks, if you switch for a bladed weapon, it becomes more dangerous. And is something some people dont realize when criticizing it. By itself, it has its holes like other styles. But if supplemented with other styles, can be an effective style. My first instructor was a prison guard and kali and wingchun are his preferred styles. Though he does have experience in others like muay thai and stuff.

Which is what I found very interesting and cool. One relatively simple set of techniques for a lot of applications. Only thing that seemed to be missing was ground fighting. But this is why they offered and crosstrained no-gi wrestling in their facility as well. They used joint locks and throws as well, but I don't know if this is a big part of Kali/FMA

I like metatrons brief analysis of weapons based martial arts top 10 list. He mentions how the martial art has too many unnecessary movements and the sparring isn't there. In my personal opinion from what I have seen of Kalaripayattu demonstrations on youtube, there is alot I like, the Completeness of the martial art, the range of moves, and the focus on health. But there are also alot of things that I am not a huge fan of, like the lack of true sparring, excessive impractical movements, Also the lack of protective equipment. Kalaripayattu is neat and looks like it is improving alot as more historical methods are uncovered and improvements are made to the art, in a way it is alot like Hema where the martial art improved by looking to the past.

If you ever decide to make part 3, you could consider Kajukenbo (I remember seeing it in Fight Quest TV show) and bartitsu, as well as glima, Combato and Defendo. Maybe even some weapon based MA for new video - but something practical, with sticks and staffs and knifes, because wearing swords and spears isn't legal in most places. Some of them are traditional and probably you couldn't find them outside of country of origin (portugese jogo du pau, zulu stick fighting), but some are more popular (eskrima for example). Bartitsu also uses canes and walking sticks. Oh, great video, by the way!

Moving out of my hometown and away from my Sambo gym to one that was more focused on traditional BJJ and Judo was jarring, but it was fun to be the one blue belt who had carte blanche to throw out leglocks whenever I wanted if I was rolling with higher belts.
