I like to lay down on my back with my legs raised straight and leaning against a wall for a couple minutes after a workout. Then get up, walk for a couple minutes and repeat. Not sure if it does anything to improve recovery, but my legs feel less sore for a while after.

I wonder what tier does a singular for 4% alcoholic gingerbeer get me. I know it's no good for recovery but I need something to look forward to after 2 back to back 100km rides :(

I have to say nailed it with the IT band comment my left knee always feels like the tin man from The Wizard of Oz and having to basically plank on my side to roll is a pain.

After watching I just went and bought a massage gun, looking forward to it - have a roller but I’m too lazy to use it.

Love this video style. Which software did you use there, to display the pics? I really liked that format. Keep up the good work.

How long do you recommend using the massage guns for? Do you tend to hold them in place for a minute or so or move them around when using them?
@nerocoaching3 жыл бұрын
I use it for around 4-5 minutes on each main muscle group, moving it around slowly and holding it on sore/tight spots

A massage has helped me a lot so i would put that at least second best or maybe the best. Massage guns, i have one and its helped with some issues ive had. yes these cost but as far as promotive recovery for me those would be the best 2 i would use

Just tried the Normatec boots the other day after three hard days in a row. They were great and I had no pain going into a fourth hard day. No pain but also no energy. But expensive as heck - unless you happen to be billeting a Jr A hockey player who has a Normatec to share

Does the mag salt actually do anything, or are you better off saving money and just having a warm bath?
@nerocoaching3 жыл бұрын
From the evidence I can find it's unlikely to add much. I like the routine though, especially if using scented epsom salts.

we're lucky we have a pool and I truly reckon straight into the pool after a ride top of the list,same for compression tights and yes a nap perfect

I just wanted to rank a couple of recovery methods: 1) Sugar 2) Sugar 3) Sugar 👆That’s pretty much 99% of the recovery! You’re welcome!

When I get up after laying down watching a movie after a ride I swear someone has poured concrete into my joints and muscles.
@nerocoaching3 жыл бұрын
I'd say that's a good thing, part of the recovery process. Same as if you have a nap, often feel rough after that. Combining a rest focused method, with a more active one after (walk, massage gun, etc) to get moving again can work well.

This topic is so well researched really missed a chance to include the actual science here instead of just feel. For example ice baths are shown to very clearly reduce pain, but also reduce training benefit meaningfully.
