Pete, thanks for these album rankings. This to me anyway obscure “ group , I wouldn’t have learned without these shows “. Thx again 👍💯

Dave Stewart is GOD!! I like to call them psych math rock. I would go 2-1-3 as my ranking. Like FZ said : No Commercial Potential, and that is a good thing. Essential stuff for any organ/keyboard fan.

Well said! I also think that they where the first math rock band!!

Dave Stewart was such a talented guy, had a hand in a lot of great albums including "Space Shanty" by Khan with Steve Hillage, one of my favorites.

Egg, for me are the quintessential Canterbury progressive rock band. It might not be the most commercial of music out there but Egg score highest on the progressive bingo card (unusual time signatures, virtuosic playing, left-field lyrics, atypical (for rock) instrumentation, long or multi-part songs) in my ears. Can't argue with your ranking but, again, there's some later released archive material well worth hearing (The Metronomical Society)

I should know these as I love Hatfield And The North and National Health (although I only acquired them relatively recently), so can't wait to dig in. Thanks, Pete, great work as always.

These guys were so far ahead of their comteporaries, harmonically and certainly rhythmically. They made the proggiest stuff ever while prog was still defining itself

I'm a longtime prog fan but have been Canterbury deficient except for Bruford until recently. Now I've collected Egg and Hatfield and the North and some others. I love the multi-part epics in particular.

I don’t know why but I can’t do horns. Flute yes, sax sometimes, strings oh yes. But I can’t do brass in progish music. Thanks Pete! Now I know.

...for those who love "live albums," you may want to check out an album released in 2007 entitled "The Metronomical Society"...it's radio show appearances along with other live material from Egg. Good stuff for "completists."
