Criminally underrated band! The musicianship and writing far surpassed most bands of that era. Warren D is a wizard on guitar. Bobby B has tons of groove. And I love Pearcy’s gritty vocals.

UNDERRATED? You can’t be underrated if your in heavy rotation on MTV dude. Sorry man, ain’t buying it. They were one of the first “hair metal” bands on MTV. America and Japan (especially) They conquered.

@@PierLessThanZero Maybe. The reality of it is that after Dancing Undercover (86) their ticket and album sales were on the decline. Robbin was still around until 90. Knowing what we all know now. I just think there was too much infighting and lack of trust in management. The stories I’ve heard about these guys (Pff) Any album after Dancing was a miracle.

Best LA band by a country mile. Never got to see Dimartini live but saw Jake E Lee and Lynch back in the day. 2 of three of my holy trinity. Looking forward to your Ozzy countdown. Jakes rhythm work is really sensational. I think, in terms of Warren showcasing his soloing, Reach is his most explosive work. Ridiculously talented. He got bluesier and slowed it down a bit after this. A fabulous player. 1. Invasion 2. Cellar. 3. Reach 4. Dancing 5.Infestation 6 .Detonator 7. Ratt

My Ranking: 1. Out of the cellar 2. Invasion of your privacy 3. Dancing Undercover 4. Detonator 5. Reach for the sky 6. Infestation 7. Ratt And the two last album, is missing the King, so it's not really Ratt. But I think the EP is their best release, but that's not in the part of this ranking. And the collage is great too. Good compilation 🍻🤘❤️

To me, Out of the Cellar is in another tier all by itself. Most of the other albums are really close for me. I think Infestation could have been a great album, songs are good, but the chorus hooks just fall flat throughout, with exception of Eat Me Up Alive. Think they needed to re-write the choruses or something. Really disappointing they haven't put much material out in the 30+ years, because I really love this band. I know Pete said they were bad in '87, but they've been really good every time I saw them live. 1. Out of the Cellar 2. Invasion of Your Privacy 3. Detonator 4. Reach For the Sky 5. Dancing Undercover 6. Ratt (1999) 7. Infestation

Ratt and Tesla were the best Glam Metal/hard rock bands of that era. My issue with Ratt is the way the drums sound - employs that overproduced drum sound which hurts/dates the songs. That’s not a knock on Bobby B’s drumming - he’s great. Warren D was an incredible guitarist. “Lay It Down” still one of the very best Drop-D riffs of all-time.

Enjoyable discussion. Great band. Although "Out of the Cellar" is stellar, I don't agree that they were the cream of the L.A. bands..."Tooth and Nail", also released in 1984, is much better IMHO. Dokken had more raw talent and range, as well as fine vocal harmonies. Just my opinion, but no one in L.A. could touch Don and George in their salad days.

Ratt is definitely in top 3 all time bands from 80s. Their deep tracks are just as good or even better than their hits. Totally disagree with they all sound the same. Its just great ass kicking rock. All rhe 80s albums of ratt are better than most of the 80s bands could have wanted to achieve.

I wasn’t alive in the 80s so my list is very different. Detonator is an absolute glam rock classic and I feel it’s their best album. Easily a 9 out of 10. A 5? Really Pete? I guess I’m not surprised the old school guys don’t like it as much. I’ve been defending that album all my life. Songs are just so well written and memorable. Shocked Martin ranked it last but each to their own. Invasion is a little overrated I feel. The 2 singles and a couple of others are great. The rest not so much. Sounds a little tired to my ears. My list is really contrarian I know. I like all these albums though. 1. Detonator 2. Out Of The Cellar 3. Ratt 1999 (Underrated) 4. Reach For The Sky 5. Dancing Undercover 6. When did it actually become ok for fans of Ratt and other 80s hard rock band to call them Hair Bands or Hair Metal. I understand why idiots who hate the music and want to make fun of 80s rock and disparage the bands do it. But why do actual fans of the music use a term that was coined to ridicule a whole decade of music? I wonder how grunge bands would feel if we referred to their whole scene as ‘loser rock’ or ‘fag rock’. Why make fun of something that you’re a fan of? It doesn’t make any sense.

BUT Bobby Blotzer and Warren DeMartini were always spectacular! Total embarrassment. "Invasion of Your Privacy" is awesome, but you can't beat "I'm Insane", "Lack of Communication", "She Wants Money", "Back For More"..and of course "Round and Round". Untouchable! Ratt was a band just like many others in their genre and scene who got into playing music because of the fame, money, and chicks, and they didnt care if they were sloppy or terrible live. The music was bubblegum pop because they were just there to party and have a good time. The music was just the means to achieve that. Beavis and Butthead watching "I Want a Woman" sums it up perfectly. They said "This guy keeps going I want a woman but its like I want a woman too but Im not out there singing some crappy song about it." They liked the chicks in the video but again, theres no artistic merit at all here. The music is just here to achieve what they want.

Couldn't disagree more! Great musicianship ( especially Warren on lead ) and a cut above pretty much any band from that glam metal era. To put out catchy, memorable, great sounding album after album requires technical proficiency and a certain dedication to their craft. That said, there were a number of shitty bands from this genre that would fit perfectly with what you said. RATT ain't one of em'.
