He had 1 mediocre to good season and an insane first half of 2024/25. He is 25 and relies a lot on counter attacks and speed (Passing is decent tbh). Yeah i think the price is too high for his qualities but City has to pay a Premium in the Winter Transfer Market. Dont see the fit and all strikers that left frankfurt flopped massivly.

Yes and the fee has to include the potential for Frankfurt to lose their Champions League spot based upon losing his production.

£59mil for Marmoush in January. For a guy with one of the best g/a records in football this season. It’s a bargain for that price especially because it’s done in January and every team in the world wanted him.

@xjacb722310 күн бұрын
Such a disappointing analysis of Villa's signings, now and in summer. All the loan deals from now were due to Villa needing to take in other clubs' players to sell theirs for PSR. The others such as Maatsen, Barkley (who has had quite a few minutes, what was that about? He's scored a few winners too, bargain for £5m), are players who can compete and add to Villa's depth, which is now much greater than last season. Philogene was given plenty of chances and failed to deliver, it sucks and I'm sad it didn't work out, but he was really poor on the right and we have way too many other players on the left for him to start there. Malen too, he's really exciting, both for his own skill and the fact that Bailey will have the competition to motivate him (was crucial last season with Diaby, since he left Bailey has been woeful). Robbie clearly hasn't watched anyone besides Arsenal, he just goes with the common opinion of a player because he doesn't have a clue. You can't even trust him to have good insight on Arsenal players because he's so biased. The other two had good insight, knowledge of stats and things, Robbie is way out of his depth here.

Off topic but I don’t think Robbie can argue now that invincible Arsenal was a better team than 100 point Manchester City seeing how Juventus are so far invincible this season yet they’re in 3rd and playing awful. Getting 100 points out of a possible 114 is more difficult than staying invincible.

Villa - we’re needing depth and options for all competitions moving forward and trying to push for Europe. Nothing strange about our signings; we have our reasons and Emery will always use the players when needed. Diaby was moved on because he wasn’t happy being a bit part player to ‘at the time’ an ‘in form’ Bailey.

Man City playing a 424 with savihlo and doku on the wings with Mamoush and halaand up top with kdb and Foden in the middle of the park would be a deadly attacking line

The Villa chat was mostly nonsense Philogene has had chances off the bench but never made an impact - only memorable one was defensively against Bayern. It’s shame though - he missed a last minute sitter against United. Maybe if he scores that, it’s a different story Barkley has been a great signing and used super effectively. He’s had plenty of minutes - probably about what he’d have expected, been great cover as a 6, and scored some crucial goals. Although Onana started well and I do see him being a big player for us, you could argue Barkley has had more of an impact - certainly as much as Onana

Why was Haaland on a really long deal “great business for City” but Palmer, Jackson & Caicedo on long deals for Chelsea was silly?
@Messcudi00510 күн бұрын
because haaland did it as the best striker in the world. Use your brain
@GuitarJammerJohn10 күн бұрын
Because Haaland has already proved himself so it’s not outright giving a player a massive contract without knowing if they would actually be worth it. Chelsea gave Palmer ,Jackson and Caceido massive deals before they even knew if they were worth it. in hindsight Palmer looks like he definitely was but we didn’t know at the time and I do think the jury is still out for Jackson and Caicedo even though they have been much better this year.
@tspcontent463010 күн бұрын
@@GuitarJammerJohn the whole long contract thing was always a stupid criticism. The players chelsea signed are all young & aren’t on huge wages so who cares if they’ve got long contracts, they won’t struggle to sell them on. The only thing a long contract is doing is stopping them leaving on a free or reduced fee because it’s expiring.
@caseyimiller10 күн бұрын
Because their deals were the initial signings yet Haaland was put on a 5 year deal before then extending it 115 months
@GuitarJammerJohn10 күн бұрын
@ How is it stupid they aren’t small wages 150k a week for Caicedo and 100k for Jackson that’s a very big wage to have to pay for 8 years especially if you find out the player isn’t good enough. Look at someone like Mudryk no one will pay anything near what you bought him for he could basically stay for almost the rest of his career if he wanted eating up wages and possibly affecting morale. It’s a dangerous strategy giving unproven players massive contacts because they aren’t all going to be like Palmer.

About Aston Villa: Philogene looked totally lost whenever he played this season. And with Leon Bailey also bombing out, Villa need help with wide players, hence the Malen signing. As for summer recruitment, you didn't mention Maatsen. Barrenechea, Illing Jr + £40m is what they received from Juventus for Luiz. Looking like a good deal for Villa.

Scored an essential goal against Liverpool leading to an FA cup win, knocked Barcelona out in the Europa league and registered decent stats in his first season at the club.
