I think the name has a double meaning sense alcohol was illegal during probation in the 30s, moonshine was a bootleg drink made somewhere were the authorities couldn't get you. It's also a nice note that in the beginning, the announcer doesn't say their lines, one of the bugs does, you can tell by how the voice is pitched, and of course the fake knockout.

It's a shame the Devil and Angel are such a mediocre fight. The background looks awesome and like something out of Courage the Cowardly Dog. Most secret bosses in games are the true final boss and challenge for a game but Angel and Demon are just so bleh compared to something like Kurt Zisa from kingdom hearts. I was expecting a Demon Prince fight from DS3 and was let down hard.

It feels like a boss that’s on the scale of a King Dice miniboss or one of the King’s Leap challenges, which would be fine if it weren’t for the hurdle you had to jump through to get to it, along with the broken hourglass on the loading screen leading you to believe you’re in for a real doozy. I actually really did enjoy the initial gimmick, so I was excited to see how it’d be expanded upon as the fight went on, but it just kind of ended abruptly with that initial first phase.

Esther is probably my favorite of the DLC due to her design, her expressions, the franticness of the fight itself, and her very morbid transformations. Her turning into a can of beef franks reminds me of a certain other death from Danganronpa.

5:40 Okay. I will argue. You either could've fallen to the lower level, or dashed to the lower platform on the left. What I find to be the easiest to the dodge the geese is to go on the lower level, and then jump and dash back and forth to avoid the spike gnomes.

Devil and angel I feel are rather easy, you rarely actually need to turn away from one of the two and whichever devil sings summoning the pillar is telegraphed pretty well. But i think the fight needs 2 more phases I honestly think of the angel and devil were the first phase of a 3 phase fight it would be fine.

You DON'T need to save your supers for certain phases! Bosses only have one health pool - any excess damage you do in one phase carries over to the next.

You can escape the rising platform + geese + ground gnome scenario by dropping down from the platform and dashing to either side! If you kill the ground gnomes you can ensure that dropping down is always an option. That being said, it's not exactly my favorite boss either 🗿

I totally agree with Mortimer at the top, the snowman phase was really cool and the fridge part was challenging in a fun way. Also I had more fun Playing Cuphead/Mugman on specific stages and Chalice on others. (Example being that Chalice was less fun on the howling Aces due to the parriable lazer.) Moonshine Mob is my personal favorite boss just because of the music and the scatting it has in it and also all the phases including the ant eater are fuckin superb. Howling Aces is my second because the music and it’s screen tilting is really intriguing. Winchchester is a great boss with it being the only plane fight. The pure chaos in the first fight is understandable hard but really has me clenching my teeth in anger. Mortimer Freeze is a boss that filled that missing snow themed boss. The flying popsicles in the second phase seem like pure luck to avoid sometimes but still not terrible. Glumstone the giant is how to put this, not basic but not as interesting to me personally. When you go into his stomach I thought that was great and the way you take it on but again not very interesting. Also your right about that rng in the first phase with all the geese flying it’s pure luck to get a platform that doesn’t go up. Devil and angels background is visually immaculate but the boss itself feels lazy which is ironic for a company being on their feet all the time.

I really enjoyed the secret boss. The sinister music, the ambience, the fact there is a gimming and only dealing damage to the devil drains HP. While it had no phases, the amount of things on screen was formidable and I never had 0.2 sec to stand still. Overall though, I think Saltbaker was the real deal. I ADORE the first phase despite being probably the hardest boss phase in the entire game. It never feels cheap but the constant amount of things on screen really pushes your focus to the max. I know some people dislike phase 3 and 4 but for me they were a moment of peace after the two insanely hectic first phases. Also, the art design after phase 2 is just superb, like a little apocalypse but instead of ashes it's all salt, what a touch. Was feeling a bit of inspiration from Gael's fight in Dark Souls 3. Same for the last phase, while not being hard at all, the salt torandos and his heart really felt like the climax of the whole game. 9/10 DLC overall, just needed 2 extra bosses and one run and gun level for a perfect score from myself.

Here’s how to make the Angel and Devil fight harder -have more terrain obstacles for the player to deal with -have more then 2 simple attacks -make the angel also a threat as well (it could either enhance the Devil’s attacks or heal him)

You missed something about moonshine mob. The first and second phase are based on scrapped bosses. First stage’s spider is based off of the scrapped spider aeroplane boss, The Flying Gentleman. The second phase is based on a scrapped boss called The Light and it shares exactly the same mechanics as the final boss fight. I believe this is something worth mentioning and consideration when ranking it

Maybe, but it's also creepy to think what he did to those poor sentient ingredients. I have only seen the videos of Cuphead, but I get a very vengeful feeling over the fate of the ingredients, especially when they're shown to be fearing for their lives right before he kills them. It's one thing to make them sentient and use them as projectiles, but add to that the horror they go through as they realize their impending fate and using their remains for projectiles, you can bet that makes me mad..

5:41 the best way to dodge the geese crossing is to drop to the bottom and walk across, if you walk through the bottom without stopping you won’t be punctured by those elves and the time it takes you to do that is how long the geese cross for, if there are any elves already active down there deal with them swiftly and then drop down (also homing shot does acceptionally well in this fight and gets rid of those elves very easily)

I feel like for the devil/angel fight, it would have been much harder had you not been given tue choice of picking cuphead or miss chalice. Also I feel it should be only cuphead and should not be able to equip any charms or supers. You have to beat the boss with only 2 weapons. That way you can’t just cheese the fight by dashing through the fire

Great video! I liked the way you guys analysed and shared your thoughts about each one of the bosses. I loved this DLC, all of the bosses were extremely fun and I liked the extra stuff like the chess bosses and the stuff with the broken relic. Also, I think the Angel and Devil fight is good for what it is. I also the fight was still nice, since the turning around mechanic was really interesting, and everything about it for some reason feels extremely unsettling. It makes sense for the fight to be short, since it's meant to be secret. Still, it would have been good if the boss had multiple phases I like all of the bosses, but if I had to rank all the main bosses from the game. This would be my ranking: 25. Goopy Le Grande 24. An easy cheese strategy for the devil and the angel is to stand under the passive on and use chaser. If you position yourself right, the center platform will not hit you and any projectiles can be dodged with jumping or crouching. The fire wall can be dodged with chalice slide or smoke bomb and the only real threat comes from the readjustment make to the corner.

I really hated Ester. There's so much shit flying at you in the first phase (the eagles dropping dynamite are so cheap because you can't hit them) and I could never hold more than 1 HP by the final phase (which I never beat because I beat her through a glitch when she was vacuuming and froze, lucky me). Moonshine Mob is the best imo. Great designs, and the mob vs cops vibe is just so expressive and I love the little nuances like the police not actually aiming for you when they shoot. Plus the theme is so swingin I was tempted to dance while playing

I thought the Devil and Angel fight was actually pretty cool. Very cerebral. And atmospheric. Didn't really feel like a slog for me because I was using the tornadoes. And I didn't use the smoke bomb either. Honestly it looks to me like you just actively made the fight un-fun for yourself. I mean, it's still not as substantial as the other fights but to me it felt like a unique minigame that wasn't bad by any means.

The main thing about the first phase is taking out the gnomes at the bottom immediately and they shouldn’t be an issue. That damn geese attack was the source of most my retries but you can drop below the platforms. The gnomes on the bottom only hurt you after standing still for like a second or two

This is my list, and I will only rank these bosses worst to best from only these 4 categories. (Difficulty, Enjoyment, Animation and Design.) Remember this is my opinion so you disagree or agree then comment down below! 6: Chef SaltBaker: (This boss has a Unique attack and animation. his design is good but not my favorite, but the difficulty... IT SUCKS. regular is easy but once you try S ranking him IT JUST SUCKS. the limes and the cubes are my least favorite just based on RNG, and the fireballs are the worst too. he has a lot of combos and does like 3 attacks at the same time. the first and second phase sucks, phase 3 and 4 are alright. overall i hate the difficulty of this boss but everything else good.) Enjoyment: 3/10 Difficulty: 10/10 Animation: 8.5/10 Design: 6.5/10 Total: 28/40 5.Mortimer Freeze: (also as Chef SaltBaker This boss is very difficult. on regular it's easy and then expert again... NOPE. this boss is RNG with phase 2 and 3. phase 1 is easy ngl and i have no problems with it. but it's design is pretty cool and the animation is THE BEST. overall this boss is an ok boss.) Difficulty: 9/10 Enjoyment: 5.5/10 Animation: 8.5/10 Design: 7.5/10 Total: 30.5/40 4.Moonshine Mob: (this boss is the easiest boss IMO. but it's still a fantastic Fight. i love phase 1 and 3 and the troll was really funny lol. phase 2 was good too but i hate when you go to the middle and you get hit because the girl is dancing and she be like LALALALALA. overall not much to say about this boss other than it's fun and easy. oh and the design is great!) Enjoyment: 9/10 Difficulty: 7/10 Animation: 7/10 Design: 9.5/10 Total: 32.5/40 3. Howling aces: (This Boss is easy on regular but on expert is Hard. this animation this probably one of my favorites and the design is cool. i also love how there is a secret phase and is a cool secret like the angel and demon. oh and they don't count sorry lol. anyways this boss is fantastic and i love to keep playing it!) Enjoyment: 9/10 Difficulty 8/10 Design: 8/10 Animation: 9.5/10 Total: 34.5/40 2. Glumstone the Giant: (NOW LET ME EXPLAIN. this boss is easy on regular and expert. i know there is a lot of RNG and crazy things going on but for me i know how to do them. if you want tips on this guy just let me know. anyways the design is great and the animation... BEAUTY. phase 1 and 3 is the BEST. and phase 2 is good also. i know a lot of people don't really like glumstone but this is just my opinion. overall this boss great and i wish he was more appreciated.) Enjoyment: 9.5/10 Difficulty 7.5/10 Design: 8.5/10 Animation: 10/10 Total: 36.5/40 1. Esther Winchester: (You guys saw it coming, well some, but anyways esther winchester is AMAZING and my favorite boss fight. the desig and animation are INCREDIBLE! this boss is still hard but in a good way. i love playing this boss over and over again. the soundtrack IS AMAZING TOO. overall everything in this boss fight is AMAZING!) Difficulty: 8.5/10 Enjoyment: 10/10 Design: 8.5/10 Animation: 10/10 Total: 37/40 The King of Leaps 5. The Pawns: (this one is very easy and the design is average. the animation is good too. i have not much to say about this fight other than it's easy :/) Difficulty: 2.5/10 Enjoyment: 4/10 Design: 6/10 Animation: 5/10 Total: 17.5/40 4. The Bishop: (ok look this boss isn't bad but it's RNG based. i try getting the candles but this guy spits out things and then i get hit. not to mention he disappears then can sometimes spawn where you are. the design and animation is good. but the difficulty tell a whole different story. overall this boss is overrated.) Difficulty: 5.5/10 Enjoyment: 3.5/10 Animation: 7/10 Design: 8.5/10 Total: 24.5/40 3. The Knight: (i play this fight a ton and all I got to say is this fight is not that bad. sure a lot of RNG stuff and problems but with Ms. Chalice this fight is easy. design is good and the animation is great. not much to say about this fight but i guess it's good.) Difficulty 4.5/10 Enjoyment: 7/10 Animation: 8.5/10 Design: 8.5/10 Total: 28.5/40 2. The Queen (this fight is great. the cannons are annoying when they turn but that's it. the animation and design is very well done and i love it. this fight is easy although everything is still crazy. overall this fight is good.) Difficulty: 5.5/10 Enjoyment: 7/10 Animation: 8.5/10 Design: 8/10 Total: 29/40 1. The Rook: (my favorite king of leaps fight is The Rook. this fight is kinda like volley ball but it's so good. like the queen the animation and design is great! it isn't that hard but still crazy. overall this is my favorite king of leap fight in the DLC.) Difficulty: 5.5/10 Animation: 8/10 Enjoyment: 8.5/10 Design: 8/10 Total: 30/40 And this was my opinion of the DLC bosses. sorry if i didn't include the angel and demon fight, this comment just took like one and a half hour to write and i was very lazy. again if you agree or disagree comment down below!

The mountain giant is my favorite boss.just use converge shot on his head, chalice and spin your weapons quickly to kill the gnome. My winning run had no gold nugget thrown by the gnomes.

5:30 The goose attack on a rising platform actually is possible to dodge, and so is the bear that goes all the way left on expert mode. To dodge the goose attack on a rising platform, simply dash out of it. If the Gnomes projectiles are in the way, switch to the crackshot or chaser to quickly get rid of them throughout the whole fight, mixing this with charge shot seems to go a long way The bear on expert that seems impossible to dodge as Cuphead can be done by correctly timing your dash and landing on the very last "Gnome Spike on the bottom and remaining in the air as long as possible, or dashing back to the platform. This works only because the Bear's hitbox on the last few frames appears to be disjointed or cuts off too early.

Sorry man, but number 1 for me was the Esther fight. She put me through over 50 game over screens till I finally beat her. The Moonshine Mob was the second hardest boss I've ever faced in this DLC. Other than that this DLC pack was amazing and I'm glad they extended their time to perfect it into the final product.

In terms of overall presentation, I think I like the Moonshine Mob best. The seedy and grungy aesthetic, the character art, the 3-platform level design, the SONG, the bait and switch knockout foreshadowed by the snail doing the wallop announcement at the beginning, it's all just so damn good!!! And then if I had to rank the others, second best is Howling Aces, then Saltbaker, Esther Winchester, Mortimer Freeze, The King's Gauntlet, the Angel and Devil, then finally Glumstone!
