I thought it was best Brad Pitt performances (the title says "Best Movies" but Fennessey said "performances"); I'd've had "12 Monkeys" in my top spot. Definitely not my favorite movie of his (although it's great), but his performance... I was surprised he was nominated for it because it definitely deserved an award. Performances: 1 - 12 Monkeys 2 - Moneyball 3 - Burn After Reading 4 - Se7en 5 - Snatch Favorite Movies: 1 - The Ocean's Trilogy (12) 2 - Troy 3 - Moneyball 4 - Se7en 5 - Fight Club Honorable Mentions: Burn After Reading, 12 Monkeys, The Big Short, Cool World

Ocean's 11 is such a good movie and it is so easy for actors, writers, directors -- the whole crew -- in a movie like that to completely mail in their performances and they don't.

i think oceans 11 is probably the single biggest competitor with john carpenter's the thing for greatest remake of all time, at least going with the metric of difference and improvement over the original. granted i've never seen the 50's the thing but i've heard plenty, and the original o11 is almost unwatchable it's so boring, like that cast didn't give a flying fuck beyond the on set hang experience lol

A River Runs Through It is a beautiful film. I lost my brother recently and the themes that are playing out in the film really speak to me, but they have since I saw it when it came out. It's honestly in my top ten films of all time. I think the idea that it's "boring" is an unfortunate product of the era we live in where every film has to be part comic book film, even the dramas.

The best Pitt roles are when he's NOT front and center, but where he can sink his teeth in good character roles. His role in Snatch is good. But the one where he DISAPPEARS BEFORE YOUR VERY EYES is 12 Monkeys. You forget it's Brad Pitt. You forget it's Pitt with Bruce Willis. That specific role really just made me see him more that women eye candy, but an excellent & very capable actor.

Ocean's 11 is absolutely his best performance. There's no more "Brad Pitt" Brad Pitt performance. Soderbergh makes everything in that movie super slick and cool, and Pitt is somehow slicker and cooler than anyone else. Moneyball is his best for serious performances.

@SchulzEricT5 жыл бұрын
You are not. I think the Ringer has thrown shade at it a few times, but I see at least one other person on here who had it on his list. I fucking *love* Troy, it's so good. Three of the best battle/fight scenes of all-time (they span the gamut: a big battle scene - when Troy takes the beach ahead of the entire army - a fucking fantastic one-on-one battle - Achilles vs Hector - and a great one that establishes Achilles' badass cred - Achilles vs Boagrias (sp?). The only other fighting scene I'd put up there in that tier is Dread Pirate Westley vs Inigo Montoya; maybe not technically as good as Achilles vs Hector - although it's close - but more satisfying because of the banter). And what a great cast too. That movie might not be as high a quality as some of his other stuff like Se7en, Fight Club, Moneyball, or The Big Short, but goddamn it's a fun fucking movie.
