Btw in the Novels the tribe that produced combustion bending has its members get dove unto cold water and forced to produce heat into their head to maintain consciousness repeatedly. Anyone that managed to survive multiple sessions long enough eventually got a tattoo and learned how to focus their heat through breathing and circulating it in their system.

Jeong Jeong is massively underestimated. This guy made the strongest fire bending feat without Sozin's comet, even more powerful than what Ozai or Iroh ever did without the Sozin's comet. He can summon fire outside of his body, a power no one has ever did (Well except for fire strengthening with breathing). Other firebenders (even Ozai) would need to use their hand or feet to produce fire. Jeong Jeong, despite of his elderly age, was able to take down almost all of Fire Nation's ground forces. And othet fact is, he presented an ability only him and Ozai can do, extended flight using fire. He literally was a flying fire fortress in the Liberation of Ba Sing Se while producing a lot of destructive unstoppable walls of fire, a skill which was only demonstrated by Ozai. I'd rank him closer to Iroh and Ozai, even possibly more higher than Iroh but not Ozai since Jeong Jeony's firebending feats are more impressive than what Iroh have ever did.

Yes and I feel like Korra should have started at 14-15 years old and she’d only have water and earth bending. She goes to republican city to learn air bending from tenzin but word gets out that kuvira plans to concur more of the earth kingdom. Here Korra learns about suyin from tenzin and Lin and goes to zaofu to master her earth bending (she still has mako bolin and Asami but without the love triangles and stuff) and learns metal bending. While Korra is there suyin gets word that kuvira will be on her way by the end of the week to concur the place she once called home. In a 1v1 battle against kuvira Korra only has water earth and metal . Kuvira out matches her in earth and metal bending but Korra has more than enough water. Korra ends up loosing control of her emotions and goes into the avatar state for the first time loosing control on kuvira and her army destroying them in the process. This could lead to major problems in book 2 where Korra has problems because she only has mako bolin Asami and tenzin+ his family, zaofu and the fire nation on her side as well as the southern water tribe. Majority of the earth kingdom has banished her including ba sing sea omashu and what was left of the new earth empire, as well as republic city taking place in this well. When the red lotus escapes their prisons they go to the zaofu and take over, before that was happening Korra was traveling with tenzin’s family and the Krew, practicing her earth and metal bending to near mastery levels and unlocking Air bending due to more exposure to the world different cultures and having more freedom. After hating about zaofu Korra tenzin and the krew head straight there. Amani and bolin face zaheer ( he’s got no air bending here bc no harmonic convergence). Ghazan fights mako, Korra has pli and Ming hua to deal with while tenzin and unalaq face off. Korra seeing how her own uncle was helping the red lotus and remembering how she was told by zaheer how her own uncle helped them try to kill her she once again looses control of her emotions and goes in lot the avatar state.

This asortment doesn't work because the only reason kuvira is in power is because of what zaheer did by killing the earth queen which was only possible due to him recieving air bending directly from harmonic convergance thanks to unalaq and vatuu. Thus the way the books are arranged is the only way they can accurately flow unless you change the entire aspect of events and back stories of what the villains are doing and theyre motivations.

Aang only survived due to Spirit water, and it was implied that had he redirected Ozai's lightning back at him in that moment he would have killed him. I think the Korra lightning bending just is more refined/ controlled so they are able to emit blasts that are non lethal, but I've seen no evidence to suggest that they are MORE powerful.

@@man_without_name In Zuko and Azula's duel, she was 1 (not fully on her game) and 2, Zuko managed to partially redirect some of the current as he jumped in the path of the lightning aimed at Katara and absorbed it. That's not the same as a direct hit. I can't speak to the comics as I haven't read them, but the show goes out of its way to represent lightning as pretty lethal in ATLA unless redirected or the victim is saved with spirit water.

@@ricardojornada each element has one sub bending form that can counter blood bending. Fire is lightning bending as seen in legend of Korra and with people like Ozai. All it takes is two fingers and a skilled lightning bender to produce a mild but fast lightning attack. And it has been shown that this can be done while being bloodbent. Air has sonic bending. Bending the air in one’s scream to produce a propagating sonic attack (avatar Yangchen created this ability), and all it takes is one scream. And lastly earth. This one is tricky because it is more theoretical than anything, but it’s bone bending. Bending the calcium in one’s own body to enhance physical strength and prowess. Bones in the body make up about 10% of our total body weight in calcium, and there is 8% body weight of water in our blood. This means that if waterbenders can successfully bloodbend 1/10th of somebody else’s body under the full moon, it stands to reason that earthbenders could at least learn to bend 1/10th of their own body, which would effectively cancel out bloodbending. I just find it so fascinating how all these elements are so balanced with each other. It’s a damn near perfect magic system, and I love it!

@qbgrindddd either way, when I did my calculations, I went off the total amount of blood in your body. So the 1/10th comparison still fits. And you have no argument against lightning bending being a counter due to the FACT that it happened in the series. When you take someone as equally skilled as Amon in their respective sub element (like lightning bending) I have no doubt that they could counter bloodbending just like Mako did. Take ozai for example (best lightning bender), he would have no problem getting a WEAK but FAST strike off at least once. Bone bending is no more a stretch than blood bending is. Plus, we have confirmed instances of earth benders using their abilities to lengthen their lifespan by bending the minerals in their body back to homeostasis. This is why kyoshi (and another unnamed man) were able to live so long. So based on the universes logic of bloodbending, and comparing it to that of bone bending, it is at least possible that one could bone bend themselves. And a possibility is all I need. And you didn’t even mention the sonic scream which is absolutely a counter to bloodbending. Try all you want, but the elements are balanced.

The only chance that you may be right is bone bending. But since it hasn’t been proven to exist or not to exist, neither of us can say for sure. It’s merely speculation. Except my speculation factors in science, biology, and the universes own logic. Your is just “it doesn’t happen, so it must be that it can’t happen”. I'm not sure if Zuko is better than Mako because Zuko never learned how to control lightning, he only learned to redirect the lightning of other benders and in the first season he was so imprudent using Firebending, he was hit by Sokka's boomerang at the start of the show and he wasn't even able to defeat Aang at the start of the show only knowing Airbending.

They are in contention I think. When they were planning the invasion and it was suggested that Iroh confront his brother, he said "and I'm not sure that I could" meaning even to him at that point it was up in the air. Iroh also has the benefit of training with the Dragons and more wisdom.
