The headless from Sekiro are even more terrifying when you understand their grab attack. They don't rip out Wolf's spine. It's much worse: In old Japanese culture the soul of a human is actually stored...in their anus. So the headless attack Sekiro's soul - by shoving their hands up his asshole and ripping out his soul. Now THAT's fucked up.
@lurieelcari
@lurieelcari Жыл бұрын
It gets worse when you pay attention to how they store the shirikodama up their own anus after a successful grab. Kappa demons are old folklore. Interestingly, there is a thought that the reason people believed this was because when people die in a river or lake, usually by drowning, their bodies anuses "open" and when they were found this way, it was assumed the soul had either escaped or been stolen by a kappa. In reality, this is a normal occurrence for a few different forms of death.

“My crippling arachnophobia” I’m right there with you, my friend. There’s a reason why my wife and I have a deal when it comes to insects in the house: I deal with anything that has 6 legs, she handles anything with 8 legs. Anyways, I’d give you a hearty shoulder-pat-pat while shaking your hand in solidarity if I could. Great content, looking forward to checking out some of your other stuff!

Unfun fact. The grab performed by the headless is based on a japanese tale, that the soul is located in your lower body. So yeah, this thing literally rips your soul out of your ass. Yay.

A note about the monstrosities of sin, they likely have a direct connection to the abyss and manus. This is not only due to the they're name, but also because Manus in Latin means hands and they have hands for faces. I know not if that was an obvious connection to be made, i just thought it was an interesting connection to make.

My a worst Soulsborne experience is when I was rune grinding in Elden Ring and I ran up to the crow just behind the grace near the boss, and a massive HAND just fell from the sky and on top of me. And then that became my go-to grinding spot because the crow is super close to a grace and auto dies and drops 1000 ish runes, plus the hand drops 4000, so it's a great grinding spot.

For Bloodborne I think the scariest enemy is the small gaping dragon type thing that is in Byrgenwerth. I don’t know how else to describe it other than a mini gaping dragon shaped insect thing. For dark souls 3 it is DEFINITELY the long hair centipede things. Every time I see one of those I want to actually smash my TV to get it away.

@@TosherHaney-i5jtrue but I think there are 2 distinct types of scary enemy. I think the scariest enemy I faced in Souls games is also one of my favourites. I just love the Winter Lanterns. Their design is so creepy and trigger the uncanny valley so much to me. The fact that they have a similar dress to the Doll and their head is made of messengers make them so terrifying. And of course, earing this song always trigger my nerves. I love to play Metal Gear Solid against them, this is the only one enemy on the series that I fight like this And great list ! Agree on Demon's Souls. For DS1 the skeleton dogs are still the most terrifying. The scariest encounter in DS2 would be the giants hidden in the dark. For DS3 it would be the Corvians in the dlc and the weird multi leg things that come out of the water. In Bloodborne just everything terrifies me but the scariest would be the shark giants or the the tentacle face giants near where you can get the pizza cutter weapons. Agree on the headless in the Sekiro. And in Elden Ring it would be the big ass super fast crows for me, especially the blood versions.

Honestly, I find the Monstrosity of Sin kinda cute in a weird sort of way? Like, they’re just these big eldritch babies and I kinda love them?? For me, in terms of DS3 enemies, I found the baby-faced things from Irithyll Dungeon, white spiders in the little swampy alcove, and (ESPECIALLY) the giant dog-spider in the Cathedral much scarier. Not sure if bosses count, but the Dancer of all things terrified me my first time fighting it. There’s something so uncanny and off-putting about it’s design and moveset combined with its immense size, and imagining the horrors that turned this (presumably) once beautiful thing into the wretch we encounter in-game genuinely makes me sick.

Ooo ooo ooo I know this one, the monstrosity of sin were people that were mutated by the profaned flame. The flame was born from the soul of alsanna the silent Oracle from dark souls 2. One of the item descriptions specifically mention the flame was created by the descendants of an oracle using her soul, she is the only other character referred to as. Alsanna was born from a fragment of manus' soul. So the reason these creatures have giant hands for faces is because they were essentially born from somebody lighting a fragment of a fragment of manus' soul on fire and the damn thing freaking out like some kinda dark souls demon core.

My pick for DS2 would be the Undead Aberration, you only see it once and very possibly not at all in NG as it's up in one of the cages in Aldia's Keep, then in NG+ there's two of them added into the water on the way to the Lost Sinner. Revolting to look at, fairly tanky, due to the afore-mentioned singular NG appearance a moveset you won't have much idea of, and unlike the Flexile Sentry in the same place the area where you get off the lift isn't safe from them.

Starting my list before I get to each part in the video and seeing how it matches up - Demon's Souls: The Mindflayers. Tower of Latria makes me the most unsettled out of any location in DsS for sure, and the mindflayers being able to paralyze you and then suck out all the juice from your body gets me every time. Dark Souls: Probably the skeleton dogs. It doesn't matter how many times I play Dark Souls, the Tomb of the Giants never gets better and those skeleton dogs kill me pretty much every time. Seeing them looming out of the darkness when you have light because they have just a short enough aggro range that you can see them first is just horrifying. Dark Souls II: Maybe the darkdwellers, those spider monkey guys in No Man's Wharf. But their aversion to light does defang them pretty heavily. DS2 doesn't really have many scary enemies imo. Dark Souls III: There are a few choices, but this one almost certainly has to go to the Deep Accursed, those things still terrify me. The second place choice is probably Sulyvahn's Beast, especially since you have to deal with two of them together at one point. Bloodborne: Semi-meme answer, the sharks. Everyone knows the well, and the horrors it contains. Runner-up goes to the Winter Lanterns for sure, for similar reasons as the Demon's Souls mindflayers. And other semi-meme answer, if we count them, then the Bloody Crow of Cainhurst, because I've said before how they always kick my ass, they should be the one ending the hunt, not me 😭 Elden Ring: Obviously the royal revenants. I think a respectable runner-up goes to the Kindred of Rot though, those centipede guys are awful and their magic consistently tore through me at every stage of the game. Now let's see - The ghosts are a good shout. That's definitely a huge "wtf" moment for a new player who's gone in blind, and one of the main reasons I default to going for the cursed greatsword most of the time. I've been called out for not doing the chalice dungeons, oh no 😭 The monstrosities of sin are definitely a good shout too, and now that I think about it they're probably an inspiring force behind the hand spiders in Elden Ring too. And there the hand spiders are lmao

Crazy the horrifying Elden Ring monsters that didn't even get a mention: abductor virgins, monstrous crows, giant crayfish... but for me, #1 has got to be the runebear.
@BillySYT

Abductor Virgins are more creepy than scary to me, monstrous crows are adorable, they just want hugs. The crayfish are iconic, they can punch me any day, but I'll 100% give you that the runebear is terrifying your first time through.

Just a note, I don't think I'd consider the new londo firekeeper soul easy to grab. If I'm remembering right, you have to drain the water to get it. Anywho, great video!
@BillySYT
@BillySYT Жыл бұрын
You're remembering wrong. The Firekeeper Soul is right at the start of the level. As you cross the first bridge, just turn to the right and you'll see it on a small ruin with a small path connecting it to the ruins. You can grab it in 15, 20 seconds, and it's easy to get early game because you can grab it and let yourself die, so you respawn back at Firelink immediately.

I'm sure everyone that have played Bloodborne was creeped out when encountering the First Enemy before lighting the Lamp at Byrgenwerth !!! You just don't expect that at all after meeting Beasts and Werewolves 🤘🤘😅

I absolutely hate the basilisk. Not just because of how annoying they are, but how creepy they look and sound

IF you did a Top 10 of this, Bloodborne would own half the spots, easily. your nomination, the Winter Lanterns, those damned Brain Suckers (particularly in Upper Cathedral Ward), tons of unnerving stuff there that makes some of the worst of other games seem absolutely inoffensive.

For DS3, that was my first thought too. But I might go with the evangelists just because of that awful, horrible laugh they do. Shivers, mate. Gives me shivers.

The giant murder crows top the list for me of the scariest Elden Ring enemies. Walking into Caelid and seeing one of those motherfuckers perched on a tree made me want to leave almost immediately. And I swear they are the HARDEST enemies in the game. Royal Revenants are more annoying but the crows Never fail to fuck me up. One of the only Fromsoft monster I always choose to run from. Also while I agree The hand babies are one of the “Worst” things Fromsoft has ever made, the Jailers are the scariest for me in terms of gameplay. There weird Shuffle waddle and the two step murder grab always make encounters with them very tense.

There’s the viscerally scary like all the parasite enemies From loves but I have to admit that they lose their effect on me once I fought them a few times. In real life I‘m terrified of big insects but luckily that effect doesn’t translate to video game creatures. Watching a documentary about insects still is much more scary in that regard than even the giant ants in Ainsel River although they do come the closest and I‘d rather not get hit by them. Then there’s the ones that are scary because I never quite learned how to fight them. Damn birds, man. Just hit R1 and pray. Other than that it really depends on how strong my character is compared to everything else, making my low level playthrough the scariest one by default.

i’m hoping Wormfaces make an appearance. Never mind the fact they’re just extremely unsettling to look at and listen to; i find them so difficult to fight when you first get to their area and till this day I find the need to return back to the forest AFTER i explore the rest of Altus Fingercreepers are worthy of the list. The giant ones are my LEAST favorite enemy in the entire game to fight to the point I refuse to even loot in Caria Manor. Just run through and fight Loretta so I can go through Ranni’s quest if i feel up for it

My problem with Wormfaces is that yes, they're "scary", but their mechanic (deathblight) is one of my least favourite aspects of Elden Ring, so I only think of rage when I think of those enemies now.

I literally won’t fight the deep accursed in dark souls 3. I absolutely hate it. I’ll cheese the one in the cathedral of the deep, and then completely avoid the one in Anor Londo. I hate hate hate them.

Definitely the enemy that had me traumatized my first playthrough. Nowadays, not so much, but I recall the hair, the legs, and my arachnophobia was like "Get away get away get away"
