The Black Halo is ALWAYS gonna be #1. This one was a great show, man. I had the pleasure of my band Scarz Within supporting, sharing the same stage with Kamelot in Northern Va. during the Ghost Opera tour. That was one of the best nights of my life being in a band.

Haven got me into Kamelot and Arch Enemy, even when Alissa had just joined AE and already knew of her with The Agonist. and then I got to listen all their catalogs, with the different vocalist they've both had. So I really love this album.

I only own The Black Halo. Back then, it seemed like a broadway show set to guitars with overdrive and drums. Seemed disconnected musically to the topics of the songs. I revisited the album and it has aged well, but it is still too happy for me. Still, happy to see these guys getting mention. They are a great band.

Finally was able to make the time to watch this episode. Man this was great! Really really dig Kamelot. The first I heard of them was a DVD actually. I bought One Cold Winter's Night because a friend at the record store recommended it and was blown away. Then I got into Ghost Opera and Black Halo, which are my two favorite albums. The recent albums are wonderful as well. A pretty solid band making absolutely fantastic power metal. Hey Pete, it would be great if you could do some shows on Epica, Nightwish, Blind Guardian, Gamma Ray, Stratovarius, Rhapsody of Fire, Iron Savior, Sonata Arctica... it's great to hear your take on power metal. Great show you guys!!

Kamelot is such a great band. I miss Roy Kahn but they are still great with Tommy Karevick. I introduced a lifelong Savatage superfan to Kameot, and I told them Kamelot was almost like a continuation of Savatage, and they said "I hate to say this, but Kamelot is better." Not that I entirely disagreed, but it was shocking to hear! Both of us grew up on Savatage and thought they were metal gods! Anyway, my list 11) Eternity 10) Dominion 9) Siege Perilous 8) Haven 7) The Fourth Legacy 6) The Shadow Theory 5) Karma 4) Ghost Opera 3) Silverthorn 2) Epica (I love the band and the album) 1) The Black Halo. Completely flawless. Maybe one of my favorite albums ever. That was actually really tough (other than Black Halo, easy pick on that one) Also, the bottom 3 were fairly easy, but the rest are pretty much all tied for 2nd. SO many amazing songs! This band is so underrated. I know a lot of fans are Roy or bust, but both him and Tommy are incredible!

Personally not a big fan of Vanderbilt's vocals but I think his era has it's place. When I first discovered Kamelot, Roy was still singing for them and I fell in love with his image and voice. The Black Halo was and is an amazing album. However, over time, I think I have found that I enjoy Tommy's voice more. It's so smooth compared to Roy's voice, who was definitely more operatic in his inflections. I think Tommy's first album, he definitely seemed to be trying his best to sound like Roy. I really couldn't tell the difference for a long time. But the more time he has had with the band, I think he has really bloomed into his own with them. I really love how each vocalist's era is distinct from each other. I was going to try to rank the albums but I'm not certain I can do it acurately.

I have never been too much into power metal, but have been following this band since the beginning (as I do with a lot of bands whether I like them or not). I am more into progressive rock and progressive metal and it is no real surprise that ' the black halo' is an absolute favorite of mine. Start to finish, such a great album. I also like Seventh Wonder quite a bit as well. Also a band I followed since their debut. Also Tommy's work with Ayreon is amazing as well.

Metal never stopped in europe it just dissapeared from TV and radio who focused on the Grunge shit and brittpop. Some american band got famous here before they got a name in the US. My favorite Kamelot albums are The fourth legacy and Epica.

KAMELOT!!! Finally. Agree for the most part with Pete's rankings. The Black Halo was my intro to Kamelot. And it would be my #1 without question. I was sad to hear of Roy's departure but ecstatic when I found out who his replacement would be. I've been a Seventh Wonder fan for years and love Tommy's voice. And I'm so glad he stayed with SW as well and is still recording music with them. I think the first 2 albums (Kamelot) are terrible so they would definitely be at the bottom. But overall, Kamelot is a great band. Love their stuff.

Not to pick on anyone's choices, but this dude needs to re-listen to Ghost Opera. It was a grower, but it's better than everything after it, IMO. And Pete ranking the newer albums better than Karma?! I cannot rank these albums because i have never heard a lot of these albums. However, The Black Halo would be my number one anyway. This is a borderline masterpiece IMO. I also have Ghost Opera and Poetry for the Poisoned.

1. The Black Halo-Masterpiece. Just a great album and an album that you must listen to wholly to fully enjoy it. 2. Epica-Another great one. First tour I saw them live. Awesome experience 3. Karma-The Elizabeth saga alone lift this one up to legendary status. 4. Poetry for the Poisoned-Great swan song for Khan. He still has it here. 5. The Fourth Legacy-This is when Kamelot became Kamelot. I think it took Khan getting involved with the writing to achieve this. 6.The Shadow Theory-Fantastic album and my fav Tommy album by far. Everything came together here. 7. Siege Perilous- Kamelot was still trying to get its sea legs under them. It wld come in the next album. 8. Haven-Solid album. I do admit that I am partial to Khan fronting the band. 9. Silverthorn-Tommy has been a good replacement. I remember seeing them on this tour. Tommy had some of the same mannerisms as Khan. A bit unnerving. 10. Ghost Opera-My least fav Khan album by far. Preachy dreary album. On this tour, the mic went out during one of the songs and it took them a little while to get the sound back. Poetic for how I felt about this album. 11. Dominion 12. Eternity

Pete, I'm with you that Eternity is a better album than Dominion. Vanderbilt and Youngblood did have a band together after Khan took over Kamelot vocals, but then Kamelot became huge and Youngblood had no time for anything else. I was a big Kamelot fan until around 2007, when my tastes started drifting into heavier and more underground music. I think the poor production leads to Siege Perilous being overlooked, but it is also part of its charm, as with Rush's Signals. These days, Siege Perilous is probably my favorite Kamelot, as they dumbed-down their sound a bit for The Fourth Legacy. They started adding back the complexity with Karma, and reached a peak, IMHO, on Epica (my other favorite), before losing some of their edge with The Black Halo. I moved on after Ghost Opera, though I do agree that The Great Pandemonium is a good song. I have no opposition to Tommy being in the band, it's just that I don't really listen to Power Metal these days. I am glad that I still get to see Casey Grillo drum, now that he's with Queensryche.

Starting with Ghost Opera through Silverthorn, the albums just don't do anything for me, and I haven't even bothered checking out the last two. Maybe I need to go back and try them out again. Possibly I gave up too early on them. Some albums take a few listens before you get it. We'll see.

Was never a huge fan of Kamelot. The first 3 albums or so were good cuz it was reminiscent of Crimson Glory and Helloween and older Fates Warning. On The Fourth Legacy and onwards it was too polished sounding. I wish they’d stayed sounding like they had on Eternity.

Not trying to pick on you, but I just don't understand why people can't just move on to something else if they see something they maybe don't care for, but feel compelled to leave a negative comment. Just doesn't seem productive to me to tell the world every time you see something you don't like. And, I'd argue that listening to a couple of songs from a band with 12 albums probably isn't a great way to judge their music. As for glam metal, I listened to that stuff quite a lot back in the day, don't care for it now, but I've listened to plenty of it. If I'm asked, I'll give my opinion on it, and explain why I don't like it, but I don't go out of my way to post my feelings on glam metal on places where people who do like it are discussing it. I just don't see the point in it, but I guess that's where I am different than some. Anyway, thanks for sticking around!
