I just got back into Civ 3 as an adult after playing as a child but not understanding the game very well. I've been watching a lot of your videos and they are really insightful and informational. Some of my favourites are where you compare the different Civ games and give your share your views on them Eg '5 Ways That Civ 4 Is Better Than Civ 3' and '5 Ways That Civ 5 Improved Upon The Civilization Franchise' I am interested to see a video(s) where you compare 3 and 6, especially as I think they finished releasing all its content and announced starting work on Civ 7. I don't think there are many good videos about this yet on KZbin. Also, it is really nice to see KZbin channels survive and persist over the years. Thank you for making these videos!

I haven't actually played Civ 6 yet! It was free in the game store for a couple weeks and I just didn't see myself interested in playing it. Now that I see how it fits within the broader franchise I'd definitely be interested hahah.

I've just thought of a fantastic challenge for you. The Rouge Governor challenge. For the hardest level you are only allowed to micro your units, but NOTHING on the city screen. For a slightly easier one you can handle what citizens do but still only the governor can choose what to build and when.

The second file (India) had a great leader available. A war elephant army would solve his military problems. Do armies incur costs as one unit or three/four?

If you get a leader due to military unit, is it better to use it to fast produce a Forbidden Palace or build an army? If it's early enough, I normally use to build the Forbidden Palace.

Generally an army. Because if you build an army, you can build heroic epic, and that makes future leaders come twice as fast. The only exception would be if I had an insane city spot that was too corrupt to build FP on its own. Maybe an ironworks spot or something.

I'm looking to do more single player content, but not necessarily game playthroughs. Next on my list was one poking fun at the civilopedia art for technology in Civ 3. Possible gameplay vids -Building the Holy Roman Empire wonder as an arab civ in the middle ages conquest. -Arabs deity ToE strat again.

Aqueducts and courthouses need to be cash rushed. A productive city should never have to wait at pop 6. Just shut off science and cash rush until all your core cities have their vital infrastructure up. You will make easily make all that commerce and science back.

I disagree as a generalization. Selling techs is potentially much more profitable. Buildings pay themselves off very slowly, over the course of hundreds of turns. Better just to hit the railroad powerspike a little sooner and make bank selling techs.

@@suedeciviii7142 On higher difficulties you're prolly behind in tech during that stage. But if you're still in the race to broker techs then prioritize that. A single tech traded could net you several from the AI.

Yo Suede, just want to say that govs like Monarchy or Fascism are mostly often preferable to Republic, since the bonus commerce has certain downsides like being subject to corruption and war weariness, whereas army support is not. I can even prove this mathematically if you want, even when taking commerce bonus city improvs (market/bank/stocks), bombardment or pillage improvement into account. Personally, I think Republic is perhaps only preferable on archipelago maps, or when going for specific victories. Edit: see my comment down below for math examples and additional drawbacks of bonus commerce

I think it pretty much just depends on if multiple AI are actually trying to fight you but imo it’s like almost never worth going monarchy. If you are going to maintain a large army just stay despotism, slaving is absolutely underrated as a means of rushing.

@@rabdag591 Yeah, one extra benefit of fighting AI is that they can be 'fooled' more easily into peace treaties when being in war with them. However, this is quite risky when playing on higher difficulties on continental, or especially pangaea maps. As for fighting non-AI players, I'd definitely pretty much always recommend monarchy or fascism over republic. Also, I've been doing quite some math on trying to balance govs better, and thinking about making a thread about it on civfanatics

@@schuringleon3207 In my experience it is extremely rare to be in a situation where monarchy is a long-term better gov than republic. Might just be my playstyle of usually not attacking until cavs, but it just speeds up tech sooo insanely much if you have all tiles roaded and just basically double your commerce outpost for all these tiles. If im not religious, i basically never change government twice, so fascism is almost a never-pick for me. And yea, the problems of republic that you mentioned (war weariness, corruption) are just completely outweighed by the sheer amount of extra commerce. And the commerce bonus increases the bigger you grow, while the unit support decreases the bigger you grow since you will have enough anyway

Hard disagree. Proof is in the pudding, if you have a save file of you crushing deity on monarchy, be my guest and send it to me. I'd also be interested in your mathematical proof. Ideally unit support should be zero. So you can't really use it as a reason to dismiss republic in good circumstances. Beyond that, a lot of expenses in Civ 3 are fixed, like maintenance or the happiness slider. The money needed to pay for these things is the same regardless of your government. Basically republic gives additional value to the library and courthouse, but the maintenance cost associated with these buildings remain the same. kzbin.info/www/bejne/aZ_Pk2CVaLNrjas Also, check the first minute here. I double this player's gold per turn by switching into republic. Interested in what else you have to say that might discount this.

Dutch, Spain, or Byz, 80% water archi, regenerate the map until you spawn on an island alone.

You can't really, unless you either have external tools, or if it's the most recent world you've generated. If the latter, click "play last world" from the main menu
