GREAT Video.... While I agree that it is only a matter of time before Google tanks businesses using keyword stuffing in their listings, Luc brings up an interesting (and to me, actionable) point to ponder for a 'local' business. Consider adding the keyword and city within the business name. Maybe generic, but I can see it definitely working for the business serving the area. We all know this is used in practice today by by others.

You can surely add it at your own risks, listings can be suspended unless your registered company name includes both keyword and location. This can be an issue only if Google is requesting additional documents to validate the listing. Cheers

I've been testing similar methods including the addition of a keyword specific subdomain GMB listing at the same postal address location as the TLD domain GMB listing. Google merged the two GMB listings and I simply changed the main GMB title to suit the subdomain exact match keywords. This seems to be in line with GMB Terms of use.

He currently has somewhere south of 10 GMB listings but wants to do more. Each currently existing entry uses his shop's number and street address, but then with a different suite number. I have tried to tell him that such an approach could get all of his listings penalized, and I am afraid they have been. What I'm reading you explaining sounds similar but not exactly the same. There isn't a "proper time" it depends on many factors such as your competition, how much work you put into it, how old your listing is and so on... The most affordable keywords will be based on the service or product your business is most popular for.

Hi Shawn. thanks for watching. 1) Whatever you do to your Google Business Profile, make sure it abides by the Google's guidelines 2)I am not sure what you mean by 5k backlink not working properly. Are you buying them? if so I would suggest you be careful with doing that. 5k sounds very suspicious to me and is likely to be very suspicious to google too.

Yes it does. It's all about how you represent your business. All I'd need to do is check your storefront using google maps to see that the business name is "Hair Studio" and not "hair studio London". Also, trying to use "London" as a keyword to rank higher in Google wouldn't be very beneficial. People searching for a hair salon will do so using hyperlocal keywords such as "hair salon Clapham" or "hair salon Richmond" Try focusing on what's appropriate for your area.

This company opened up a Regius office, was there long enough to receive a Google postcard... then left. I went there, provided photos and they still take 10000s of business from me.

Watch the video again and you'll find that I recommend that a) you report spammers and b) if you want to take advantage of the Google Algorithm legitimately you would need to change the name of your business all together.

You mentioned that adding keywords to the name is against Google policies so help me understand what you did when you remove the Leapfrogwebdesign name and you just put Web Design Wimbledon as the name. What is the difference between doing this and adding keywords to the name? Because in this last example when your business jumped to #1, the business name is not even there so there's still the same risk. Not trying to play devil's advocate here, I truly love your content, I'm just trying to understand the strategy.

I did this only to illustrate how powerful adding keywords to the business name field on your listing is. Google's guidelines are very clear. If your business is called "X" in real life you should put X in the business name field of your listing and not "X web designer Dallas" for example

Hi there, it's not just about your business name. Your GMB is not set up properly: Your a service area business but you have put an address on your listing, the website option redirects to an instagram page which goes against the google guidelines If i search for your business on google maps your cover image is TikTok picture with your tiktok handle on it....
