welcome to canada! so happy to have you and i sincerely hope your stay is a pleasant one. the same thing that has attracted me to your channel is what has attracted me to "life is like sailing. " just clean easy to watch episodes that rely on honesty and good film making without a ton of bells and whistles. thanks for having me along for another week.

It is now for about 18 months I am following several sailing channels. Ran Sailing was one of my first favourites and still is because of their sincere, simple and high quality style of life. Other channels I quitted because of too much pushing to please the public with the well known strategies. Bravo, keep your honest non pretentious style. I thought it was time to tell you this straight out of my heart.

Your drone footage with Ran under sail was simply beautiful, the other shot was the moody fog short clip at anchor, and you take the time to let the shots breathe, which I really love, all in all, a pretty darn spiffy video....

Wow! What a nice surprise - seeing my four favorite KZbin stars - all at the same time. I'm really serious. Yours are the only two channels that I never miss an episode. The decision to have a common buoy system is a good idea. Of course, it would have to be red on the right since it's so easy to remember "Red Right Returning"!! Also, it appears you are taking some art lessons from Alfy. He does a great job of making much of his videos very artsy. I do like the closeup shots. But you have some fantastic drone shots and the music really makes it just perfect. Ron

I was supposed to have helped navigate this very voyage - Ketchikan to Vancouver - from late August to mid-September. I knew every point on the chart that you’ve traversed, right down to the turns and depth of that channel to Prince Rupert. Unfortunately, the voyage was cancelled. But it’s wonderful to experience it vicariously through your videos.

When I saw you were stopping by Prince Rupert, I was hoping you'd catch up with Alfie & Devlin. Alfie's channel is unique among sailiing channels as it is like a glossy magazine of beautiful photos you'd have on your coffee table. Yours is equally informative. Thanks again!

Aluminum boat is perfect fro the west coast of Canada. Lots of debris in the water especially after a storm. Floating logs are common especially between Vancouver Island and the mainland. I lived in BC for over 50 years and now live in Alberta. Love the west coast. Safe travels to you both.

Aloha Johan & Malin. RAN Sailing is easily the most enjoyable, adventurous and educational Vlogs on KZbin. My Fridays are not complete until I get to see what new adventure you two are up to. Alfy & Devlin are very nice people. I look forward to visiting their Vlog as well. It is nice to know that the sailing community isn't just made up of people who sail to a port just to find the next beer bash or party. Your videos are so nice and your photography is amazing. I know I've said this before but I feel like I'm right there with you. I especially enjoy your drone shots. Very well done. See you next week. Fair winds and following seas to you both. Wow! In all my years of sailing (obviously not in Europe), I never realized it was different. I am so ashamed :-P I have always taught "red right returning" never realizing I was sending all of them to their deaths when they make the crossing and arrive in Europe. I am really glad you cruised to Alaska/Canada. A very under-represented destination in peoples minds. "Have a boat go to the Carribean." But while it is great; there is so, so much more of the planet to see. The only thing equal to all the otters waving hello was Malin's reaction to them.

Re the bouyage system Johan refers to at about 14 minutes in, I’d say the wonder of it all is that we really ONLY have two systems worldwide, although I’m sure there are other little localised complications. Given the massive divergences between peoples within any one country, let alone between the peoples of hundreds of countries, we’re pretty lucky to have just got it back to two systems. Even with my limited understanding of international complexities, I’d say “don’t poke the sleeping bear!” You don’t know what sort of a complete mess might come out of that.
