Ranting about Disventure Camp's Background issues

In this video, I discuss something that's been bothering me about Disventure Camp for months. Its stars. Not the stars as in its cast, but the actual stars in the background.

They don't even look like stars. They're more so mini oval-shaped clouds. Like they feel like they were part of a bigger cloud and got separated somehow. And yeah, having them be right next to the crescent moon when the dark side of the moon is still there but just not visible is odd

Yeah I noticed a lot of problems with the backgrounds just for an example in episode 2 of all stars the whole sky is cut off in the scene where Miriam arrives to the yellow camp and it just shows black. Didn’t see it in my first watch but when I noticed it. It bothered me

I have always noticed a graphical error in DCAS since the first episodes, I notice it EVERY SINGLE TIME because they do it A LOT and it destroys my braincells everytime I see it... I don't know how to explain it but the animators are really fond of scenes with two characters where they talk and the camera zooms in the person speaking while the other is seen by their back, then the other person starts talking and the camera shows them while the other is seen by their back. The thing that is annoying is that even if when a character is speaking they always do various poses with their arms (putting their hands up, on their waist, pointing something, etc. literally any action), BUT when the camera shows the other character, the back of the one who just finished talking immediately go back in a "static pose" with the arms down even if they were in another position in that same second. It may be a minor issue for many, I don't even have ever seen anyone talking about it. But to me it's such an annoying issue and I can't understand how the animators are still getting away with it even when we're like at the end of the series... 😅 Once you notice it you can't unnotice it anymore and it's so frustrating. It happens so frequently that I can't focus on a discussion between two characters because this issue keeps on happening 😭 and it takes the seriousness of some discussions away, like when Tom and Jake talked for the first time or when a character gets eliminated and talks to someone before the bus picks them.

That's not an actual issue. You need to calm down because there ain't no way that a simple aspect of an animation is getting you this mad. It's not a mistake, or an error. It's just not necessary to have characters constantly moving. And realistically speaking, people usually would be mostly still and only move while talking.

@@AnimatingTheGlobe13 no you don't understand, the characters in DCAS are constantly moving their arms while talking, but even if there's no animation of them putting their arms down they instantly have them once the camera switches to the other person who is talking lol it IS an error. It seems stupid but it bugs me so much, once I noticed it in the first few episodes I can't unsee it. It would be so easy to avoid this mistake by just not moving the characters arms constantly

I actually like stretched out stars, but I agree with the fact that stars on the mountains are pretty bad, I noticed them too...

1:24 really stupid question though but like, what if there are stars in front of the moon?? space isn't two dimensional so someone putting a couple stars in front of the shadow wouldn't be wrong necessarily? b/c aren't there stars all around in space and...? im just going to be confused forever frick v_v'

the bg's definitely bother me, especially on the eliminations w the crunchy bg. it's gotten so bad that sometimes i have to rewind cause i didn't pay attention to the ACTUAL elimination LMAO

The only thing I really have to say is that onc is on a week by week episode uploads So they can't really care for little problems like that while they have whole episodes to finish I will say it is really easy to fix so I'd say why there stretched out is because it's a big image that They need to make smaller and close up and to get someone to re draw it would cost more time And money to do which they already don't have much of so I don't really blame them

Valid complain. I'm all for weekly episodes but quality control and maybe redrawing some backgrounds and not only animating would up the overall quality. Btw. Love your disventure camp video edits.

I doubt anyone would even notice that. You're just nitpicky. As a new animator, i often come across issues like this with the background because unlike some people, i don't have fancy animation software. Just Flipaclip and Ibis Paint X

Is it just me or do the bushes in the forest backgrounds tend to look too big? Especially the ones by the bus of losers. I'm not a background or perspective expert so take this with a mountain of salt 😅
