City fan here Rants, Not good enough from KDB, Haaland, Doku today. Alvarez forced into positions where he's not even natural at, thus we become 9 men down. Silva, Foden and Rodri becoming victims of this system in order to accommodate to Haaland, KDB and Doku. This is why Grealish is fucking necessity in this city team, he offers a variety in his game that would make our team a lot more efficient and smoother. However, the City Board need to atone their sins for the transfer window of 2023 and Pep has to make big decisions for the benefit of the team.

He went from being a complete midfielder to a pure attacking playmaker due to his lack of fitness and loss of physical prowess due to age. He can’t run or press like he used to, which weighs down the current city team. At the top of his game he’s easily one of the best advanced and technical midfielders of all time, but he just isn’t that anymore. A player can’t live off the merit of previous seasons because it can inhibit the team heavily, especially if they can’t cover up new weaknesses or adapt. KDB is, unfortunately, one of those players that doesn’t have that ability to adapt as an advanced midfielder anymore - he’s only gonna get worse from here. At the end of the day, other midfielders are probably more viable than him such as Kova and silva.

KDB has his moments where he will score a long shot or make a good assist but he's a shit dribbler, lacks pace, lacks physically, cant defend, poor first touch and always gives the ball away. If you give KDB space then thats where he is deadly but thats cause players like grealish, marhez (when he was at city), bernardo silva, foden etc are good at dragging players away while keeping the ball which gives KDB more space. Look at the champions league final last season, inter milan played 5 in midfield and KDB done fuck all until he went off.

There are times where I feel bad for Haaland because KDB is the only one who actually tries to create and pass him the ball. Doku and Foden had the opportunity to get an assist but choose to shoot instead of passing it to Haaland who was open. Alveraz made terrible passes in general this game. City vs Coppenhegan was the same issue, no one tired to pass him the ball and kept possession until Rodri put in a long ball. People might blame Haaland for not creating his own chances but this is a clear indication that City midfield is lacking when is comes to games like these. Midfield downgraded compared to last year
