*Linkin Park got me through some really sorry times. They got a lot of ppl through some really sorry times. With Chester gone (RIP), it's hard to listen to some of these songs now because you really hear and know how much pain he was in. It wasn't something he went through, got through, and moved on from to share with us through music. It was suffering he was going through every single day and it's sad.*

Got me through many bad times! Saved my life too! More then a few times I was ready to end everything and I'd put on 1 last LP song. One song would turn into listening to every album they had out and no longer feel like I needed to die! LP and Chester saved me due to the fact they knew the pain and didn't just say they understood!

Thanks for playing this. Take this song and add "Shadow of the day" and you couldn't have two more powerful declarations of pain and a kind of hope that will never fade. Unfortunately, it came at a cost; our Chester.

I think this song is about leaving out all the bad memories and only remembering the good ones. Remember Chester for the good things he did, "leave out all the rest". Don't dwell on the sad memories. He wants you to be happy, not sad. He knows everyone is going to cry and be depressed. He wants you to be happy and remember the good times. "Help me leave behind some reason to be missed", help me make some good memories so you will miss me when I'm gone. That's what I got out of it.

I have for years hated how many songs about suicide are put out by artists. I know this is a messed up way to view it but as someone who has started into the abyss and yearned for the nothingness it promises everyday of my life I find it's quite simple to hear in the words and emotions portrayed which ones actually are circling their end and which ones are doing it to seem cool. To sell records. Is it messed up that I give the ones who are truly struggling with staying here a pass? I just kind of view it as they are getting rid of as much of their pain as they can the only way they know how to. If anyone reads this and you don't have this struggle, I am truly happy for you. This is a test to go through that not all of us pass. Please done judge us if we do. We're all only human. We need hugs far more than condescending words. If you do understand then I wish you did not, I would not wish this on anybody. It can be so hard to get through day to say and I'm proud of everyone that wins each day. And I pray the ones that do not have found that thing we all are searching that silence that sense of stillness that eludes us in life. I have dealt with this for many years and if you are new to it not many people talk about this subject. It's hard to take positive steps on this, but I have found that serving others for lack of a better way to say it can help. It is not perfect. If you cannot bring yourself to care about yourself in a day, go out and randomly do an act of kindness for a stranger. it does not heal the hole in your soul, it's not a miracle cure that makes it go away. But it goes to the edges of where I am torn apart and rubs a little ointment in it so it doesn't fester and grow inside of you . It's hard. Just do your best. That's all any of us can do.

Been depressed and had thoughts for around 3 decades and gotten a lot worse through last one, especially since Chester left soon 5 years ago (he and LP were one of my few bright things in life). And my long term memory is aweful, I can hardly remember anything from the past. Might be mental trauma. I think it's a positive thing though, that art on these topics exist, for several aspects. It's cathartic and therapeutic for the artist. It's the reality, mental unhealth is a huge problem that plagues the humanity, better to bring it up rather than try to ignore and suppress it. I'd def say it's therapeutic even for the audience, despite the dark subjects. And the art itself gives so much more, LP's music means the world to SO many. But like you say, those who take advantage of these topics for image, those are the lowest lowlifes!

The only thing that's messed up is those who would exploit tragedy to sell "Product"...even beyond that, a system that would incentivize such behavior. As humans, we are a complicated mix of perceptions and emotions floating in a universe of even more vast complexity, seemingly uncaring in it's processes. Perhaps the BEST we can hope for is for just one ray of light to persist in that vast darkness that surrounds our tiny blue world and last beyond our mortal forms when we all must eventually pass into that darkness at the end of our road... Meaning is literally everything to us, but we can't find it as you would a stone or tree, it must be created by us out of whole cloth through the connection we share with each other in a society through our successes and failings, strengths and flaws, through the good times and bad. It's why I feel that connecting to genuine emotion through music like this is such a blessing, and diverting that phenomenon to destructive ends is the height of tragedy... Take care the best you can and never forget that we do not suffer alone, though we may be isolated, there are many going through the same experience, just waiting for that chance passing to make a connection, hence, here we are...

People did take it seriously. Unfortunately, some people, you can't help save. Chester lost a truly great friend to suicide. The whole world saw him fall into despair. There was just nothing anyone could do. My therapist once told me that you can't save everyone. But you can help those alive by sharing their story. Chester knew he was in-trouble since day one. He lived long enough to help a whole generation Who felt like he did, save themselves. Me included. His songs/ linkin park songs, were therapy. He understood it and embraced it. A lot of us couldn't either until his lyrics hit our lives.

The chorus is what I read at the memorial service for a Grade 10 learner who suddenly passed a few years ago. He insisted I called him "my son" in stead of a formal address since both his parents died during childhood. A severe asthma attack took him home. He wasn't perfect as a student, but the chorus is exactly the way I wanted the school to remember him. RIP Thabiso son.

Those last lines always hit me hard Forgetting all the hurt inside you’ve LEARNED TO HIDE SO WELL Pretending, someone else can come and save me from myself I can’t be who you are I can’t be who you are Like the hurt can come from ourselves or others. But it’s on you whether you internalize that feeling and dwell on it Some of us however can’t do anything else BUT that Hence, only you can save yourself. And no matter how hard we try, we can’t be like someone else

Jojo watching your reactions to this older stuff has been amazing. You are feeling what music is supposed to do to you. It's supposed to touch your soul. It's supposed to connect you to people you don't even know and have that commonality and connection of understanding. I started off watching your dad's channel and watching yours gives me hope that there are young people with empathy towards each other. Having a bigger heart than the hate. Keep going, you're doing good for the world by being real and authentic. Wear those tears when they hit you, most can't be that real.

For people who suffer from an actual mental illness. So we are not speaking common depression, moods or a rough time. But chronicle mental illness. Suicide is not a choice, but a result of an illness that follows you around every second. People would never say people who died from cancer was selfish for dying. And despite many get angry over using this comparison, it is there, its chronical mental illness is often fatal. if not by ones own hands, it shortens your life by many years, medicine, isolation, stress, pain and a ton of other things. the same chronical cancer or other illness can shorten your life. But people often ignore this. And if you end things on your own accord, it still an act of your illness, not a choice. Its hard for people who do not know how it is to live with to understand what it actually means, to have to battle yourself at every turn and hour of your life, every time you smile that person is trying just to get through. everything you wake up for, live for, is things that, that person can never have, and every time that person tries to get it because that is what life is about, it end up hurting more. The things others live for, is the things that kill people that suffer from chronicle mental illness. Ask yourself, if you had the choice to live 35 years, with love, family happiness. travel. good memories all of that, to then die because of an awful illness. Or to live for 35 years, or 60 years without ever really living at all. Being alive but without being able to live. Not having love because your illness takes it away. having the entire world against you because you suffer from something they do not understand. not being able to find love, happiness, get a family, or be happy and safe if you fight to get those things, but have those things tear you apart from the inside. If you know you know. And the choice is easy, having the gift of actual living for 35 years is far greater than being alive in a life you never got to live.

Thank you for saying that! I work in the mental health field and there are warning signs to depression and suicide but it's not something we want to talk about. We say their just crazy...but what's crazy is watching someone in pain and people are so emotionally detached to reach out and help.

I know this has been a while since you reacted to leave out All the rest by Linkin park. Chester Bennington saying that song and Mike Shinoda is the rapper in the group. I've been listening to Linkin Park since around 2006 right after they released the album hybrid theory. Chester Bennington has always sang about issues surrounding depression and anxiety. I related to many of their songs because I am a veteran who suffers from PTSD. Way back when I was listening as their songs came out I always said that Chester Bennington was singing from a place of deep pain and as I continued on with the group I saw his documentaries where he openly discussed suffering from depression anxiety. So many of the reactions to the songs that I have come across have been tremendously positive. I don't know if you've covered the song crawling by Linkin Park but that song as he described was a song that was born from an experience from his childhood. So as I say most of his songs have some type of connection to his life story or to one of his band mates stories. Linkin Park was highly criticized as they came out with new albums for being sellouts but now that Chester Bennington is gone and people have learned the evolution of their albums unfortunately it has taken for Chester's passing for people to have learned how to appreciate where bands come from and where their music comes from. Sometimes it comes from a deep place and most of the time it comes from pain. I do appreciate you covering and reacting to these songs. So again if you haven't already reacted to crawling if you get a chance react to it and see if you understand the pain behind the song. Thank you.

Taking a break going through your backlog to suggest Shinedown as a band and more specifically their Simple Man cover, which is IMO (and in the opinions of many others) one of the very best covers ever made. Disturbed's Sound of Silence is probably the *best* cover, but Shinedown's Simple Man is fantastic. Also, appreciate the attention to Linkin Park. Hybrid Theory helped keep me sane during high school, and I love seeing new people react to their music.

It's the problem when you actually look at song lyrics, you start to see where they came from, some good times some bad. Keep up the great content 👍

I think Chesters biggest accomplishment wasn't just songs/vids but his family, his kids. He even adopted the son of a former gf.

the first time i listened to this song again after chester passed, I had downloaded it as a custom map on beat saber, and didn't think anything of it until I started playing, and I literally broke down crying, but I didn't wanna stop playing the game, so I was just there bawling my eyes out while trying to finish a rhythm game. That was an interesting time, I still get very sad when i hear this song cause I just think of Chester, and it breaks my heart that someone who helped save me at my darkest times, didn't get the help he needed.
