DOC was brilliant...not only skilled with the pen, but unique delivery...also, though he was down with NWA, his lyrics weren't brash. Fun fact he tutored Snoop, thats why his frst album was so cohesive DOC was overseeing it...he didnt ghostwrite but he orchestrated it,

I thought that Atlantic Records had a solid list of Artists on their label, MC Lyte, the D.O.C.,Kwame, Breeze, the only other label that was just as hot and up and coming, and that's Jive Records

And Profile Records, and Tommy Boy Records, and Uptown Records, and Ruthless Records, First Priority Records, and Priority Records, and 4th & B'Way Records, and Sleeping Bag/Fresh Records, and the almighty Def Jam Records too as well!

Back then prior releases would end up on compilations a year or so after, so 1990 seems about right for this to have been released.
