The kids in this that are still living are full grown adults now. Wow. Wonder why Run didn't want to be part of this and where the hell was LL? What was his excuse? It's a shame JMJ didn't live to get old as he said on this record.

First of all you're asking a insider industry question conscious hip-hop didn't last long it was a power move to destroy it immediately, self destruction and all in the same gang were good songs but you have to remember it was very difficult to get hip hop artist on one song collectively because they were from different labels, the rumor was that Russell Simmons didn't want Run and LL Cool J in the video at all, D.M.C. rebelled and did it anyway, also during that time maybe a year later in 1992 there was a secret society record industry meeting in the Hollywood Hills, there were record execs that had to signed a disclosure agreement in this meeting, the record elites plan was to destroy conscious hip hop completely they were successful, Professor Griff and Black Dot used to explain this on their lecture circuits in the mid 2000's, you also mention [ J.M.J.] Jason William Mizell a great DJ but still living a illegal street life style they final caught the assailants of his murder 20 years later the story is sad at least the family members have closure now.

Afrocentrism was alive and well at this point in time. I only wished I was coming up during the golden age era. Latifah and Lyte are damn near 50 years old and they are aging _backwards_ literally.
