The year we've all been waiting for - 2012AD (or 13.0.0.0.0, if you ask a Mayan) - is finally here. What will happen? Will we see the poles shift or a paradigm shift? Will a rogue Sumerian planet smash into our solar system, plunging us into serfdom under the iron fist of a race of gold-hungry aliens? Or are the aliens already here? Or are all these merely humanity's collective projections of itself as it careens towards an ever-accelerating super-connected cyber-reality - whatever that means... One thing's sure, if 2011 was a prelude of things to come, 2012 is going to be one hell of a year. Now that it has arrived, are we ready? Join your host Robert Foster and his guests, Terrence Moonseed and General Baxter, as they conduct an in-depth rap analysis into the future, and humanity's place in it. Happy New YERA!
Juice Rap News: written by Giordano Nanni; lyrics and performance by Hugo Farrant. Created by Farrant & Nanni in a back-yard studio in suburban Melbourne.

Honestly watching this in late 2019, the ending of this makes me cry. 2011 and 2012 were such interesting times, the years after the Great Recession in general. The time was so ripe for true disruption of the capitalist status quo, for a revolution to make a world that works for all of us. Back then you'd truly have the hope that it could actually go anywhere, actually work. And look where we are now. Not only has nothing changed, it's gotten worse. Neoliberalism continues to fuck the world in every conceivable way with market-captured governments sweeping aside people to make it even easier. People are flocking to fascism and nazism around the globe, xenofobic sentiments are stoked up and profited from by populist politicians only out for personal gain and power in a time where we should all come together to deal with the biggest threat humanity has ever faced, the ecological apocalypse. History repeats itself, and it's painful as a historian to see everyone not learning from it and repeating the same dangerous bullshit. We're all gonna fucking die.

"People are flocking to fascism and nazism around the globe" You're living in a simulation mate, that's simply not true. Your comment makes it clear that you're drinking the fear-mongering kool aid. Remind yourself that the establishment media thrives on fear and misinformation. The world's not half as bad as you imagine it is.

@@jesusstaccato8448 I'm not drinking any fucking kool aid. I'm an anarchist mate, I haven't followed establishment media for a decade. And I wouldn't be an anarchist if I wasn't such a stubbornly hopeful, optimistic and yeah, probably naive person. But you have to really have your head in the sand if you deny that fascism has not only been on the rise for years but has taken a substantial hold in many places. Modi, you know, the president of India which has 1.4 billion fucking people, literally quotes Hitler when he talks about Jews as an inspiration to deal with muslims. America has had it's grapple with incompetent fascism but it will not take long before a competent one takes its place. Every country in Europe is dealing with their populists and fascists, and it has infected countries in South-America like Brazil too. Fascism is a seemingly unavoidable consequence of economic hardship, inequality and worsening of quality of life of normal people, because either people start to realize the system is fucked and tear it down, or some of the people that already had power convince enough of them to let off steam in the form of scapegoats to make sure capitalism continues on its merry way and they stay in power. Learn some fucking systemic critique. These things are happening, and they're dangerous. People like you who have their head in the sand are on of the big reasons it's so hard to fight fascism. You're literally Terrence Moonseed in this very video. Good job.

@@AliceDiableaux If the environmental issues are as critical as you portray them then you're being distracted by nonsense, whatever media you follow is confusing you to the point of being unable to accomplish anything. The people you call "fascist populists" promote local self sufficiency and tariffs, the only policies capable of dealing with growing CO2 output. Not wanting multinational corporations to own all your nations resources and have full control over the demographics to serve profit is enough to be labeled a "fascist populist" and have all the cliche points you mentioned being deployed against you.

+aXioS But you miss the fundamental point: Our way of society means 99.9% of those hyper-rich people have either not earned their money, or only earned it by worsening other people's live. As such, saying it's "their" money helps nobody, we all live on the same world and have to find a way to live together happily, letting obscenely rich people lord over everyone else is not that way.
@XxJERICHOHOLICxX13
@XxJERICHOHOLICxX13 7 жыл бұрын
SgtLion Actually 2/3 of the world's billionaires are self made, so within your first sentence you've already invalidated your argument. Even if it's inherited, think of it as a gift. If you have a problem with a parent giving their son or daughter a gift, then I hope you don't celebrate Christmas... Furthermore, it is "their" money, most billionaires create thousands of jobs, a billionaire pays people the site I'm talking to you on and a billionaire paid people to design, manufacture, and sell the devices we are communicating on. Rich people do shitloads of great things for the economy. Do you think there would be $100 cell phones today if no rich people bought the $4000 ones in 1983? Do you think there would be as many jobs as there are if rich people weren't starting tons of businesses? Do you think we'd still have a country if the top 10% of tax payers weren't paying 70% of the taxes while the bottome 40% pay nothing at all? The rich do a lot for you my friend, and 67% of them started from scratch. If you want their money, go work for one of 'em and they'll give it to you. That's how you get a rich person's money. No politician up in D.C. will get it for you, they ARE the 1%. Case and point, if you want it, earn it.
@SgtLion
@SgtLion 7 жыл бұрын
General Corbulo (aXios) Ridiculous arguments. Rich people contribute a lot of money to society - Yeah, because they're rich and they're forced to do so by law, usually. What a circular argument. "Self-made billionaires" almost wholly includes one or more of: Getting real lucky, influencing politicians, being connected to hyper rich people already and exploiting people. I think there would be $50 super smartphones today if megabusinesses weren't artificially jacking up prices. I think there'd be plenty of cell phones even if nobody bough the $4k ones back in the day, why wouldn't there be? I think there'd be far more jobs, and far less unemployment without giant businesses, because people would instead work together, and keep meaningful profits to themselves. I think the only reason rich people pay so much tax, is because they got all their money in a way I (and some degree of society) don't recognise as legitimate or fair. Tax evasion by the rich is one of the hugest losses of income in major western governments, likely all happening due to corruption of some degree. To rid a rich person of their riches, the one thing I wouldn't recommend is submitting yourself to wage slavery, depending on whatever pittance they feel like bestowing you. I'd recommend starting self-employment and outcompeting their universally rubbish big-chain services. Good luck though because their businesses know how to pay less tax, how to work the system, and how to abuse laws to remove good competition - Not to mention large capital giving you the ability to muscle out competition totally unfairly (see the slew of anti-monopoly rules that still don't go far enough). I don't agree that property rights exceed the right to at least a somewhat fair society. If I was a billionaire, I wouldn't complain once about a huge portion of my money going to government instead of all being inherited by my children. (Though trusts pretty much entirely get around that anyway.) The money was earned on the backs of those in society, so yeah, by all rights it should benefit them.
@XxJERICHOHOLICxX13
@XxJERICHOHOLICxX13 7 жыл бұрын
If you think they haven't really earned their money, tell me why taking it from them and giving it to people who also haven't earned it is okay? They didn't really get lucky either... You don't make billions and keep those billions for as long as they do through pure luck. As far as tax evasion, most of them get out of paying taxes by jumping through all the tax loopholes, as well as all the write offs the get from their businesses. Those are legal means of evading taxes. We all do it too. If there's a box you can check on your W2 form that allowed you to pay just a little bit less an it's something they can't prove, you'll check that box. By checking that box, you've just committed tax evasion.
