If you go back to Control, Kendrick really just wants rap back to what it was created to be. He wants lyricism back and people making real art which is why he dropped the Control verse but if you also look at Control, he did not waste his time responding to people that were not worth his time. He's trying to solidify his name as top 5 of all time. Would Biggie have shot back at a Warren G diss? Would Jay shoot back at a Raekwon diss? Those guys have nothing to gain responding to guys that far below them whether in skill or popularity. I think if Joey continued to properly build his career off the success of 1999 to this point, Kendrick probably would at least sub him but Kendrick is head and shoulders above where Joey is (not talent wise) that there is no gain in status to his legacy especially when Kendrick is coming out of a beef with the biggest male artist of our time.

Everyone is interpreting this potential rap battle in the same vein as Kendrick’s battle (well, assassination really) with drake, which is dumb to assume. This battle would be what Dot and Cole was supposed to be: two competitors trying to outperform each other with their skills. I think this would be great for hip hop as a whole considering we’d hear even more Dot while getting the absolute best of Joey, but I don’t think this is even close to being on Kendrick’s radar unfortunately.

K dot has confined himself with his generation his punching within his weight.
@celestialnubian11 сағат бұрын
@@sizwezuma8278 Dude, It's not like I went back to Rakim or Kool G Rap. This is relevant because the industry suppressed Lupe in order to promote Kenny (someone who would play the game). Lupe's album this year beats Kendrick's album this by a mile. DROGAS Wave beats any of Kenny's attempts at consciousness and Tetsuo & Youth is probably better than Kenny's whole discography. Kenny's not a new artist anymore. He's got years of projects under his belt. I think it's perfectly fair to compare him with Lupe who is still at the top of his game and not just a legacy artist like some others I could mention.

On every aspect of rapping there are rappers who can do it better than Kendrick, But nun of them can do it all like Kendrick can. Yes some rappers are better at wordplay, yes there are rappers with better flows, yes there are rappers with better melodies, yes there are rappers who pick better beats, yes there are rappers who can battle rap better, yes there are rappers who write a better chorus, yes there are rappers who have better style, yes there are rappers with better delivery, yes there are rappers who perform better on stage, yes there are rappers who got a cooler image. But Kendrick is top 5 of all time when it comes to ANY of these rap aspects I just mentioned. That makes him the GOAT imo
@aaryasharma49403 күн бұрын
Not to repeat the person above me said but way better or even better than Kendrick as lyricists is only reserved for GREATS like Nas, Andre 3K, Em and I could see Lupe being mentioned in that as well but he still cracks in the top 5. Wordplay and rhyme scheme wise there's Mos Def and MF DOOM (maybe Em ig) imo but that's it Kendrick is in the top 3 or 5 in that category as well. Kendrick might not have consistently good flows but his top songs like Rigamortus, For Free, Black Friday (and some other stuff from his Black Hippy days) which also makes his flows be up there with greats like Cole, Em, Busta, Tech Nine, Twista etc, he might not be the best at double or triple entendres but he's certainly up there. Just in Euphoria alone I've caught at least 3-4 double entendres and a triple entendre or two without any reach (and there might be more in there the more I hear it, the title 6:16 in LA also is like a quadruple entendre at least which could be a reach but it is very much possible) all these only point out Kendrick is at least top 10 or 5 all time which I've been saying for years now

Kendrick’s return has undeniably raised the bar again, and artists like Joey Bada$$, who already have the skill and hunger, might feel even more inspired to deliver career-defining projects. Joey has always had that raw potential, and if he pushes further into deeper themes and experimentation while staying true to his roots, he could easily claim a spot among the all-time greats.

Last thing I wanna say is I don’t think k this was an actual diss. Joey ended the song with “I’m no where near done which ya” I think this is a sign of two things 1. Joey is dropping an album soon 2. The album is gonna contain more shots at the west coast and Kendrick and maybe Atlanta as well I think the cons of all this is the following 1. If Kenny doesn’t respond it will feel like the competitiveness between Kendrick is too reserved which I fucked with Kendrick so much because it always seemed like he would put on for the less known artist (think of GNX). 2. If Kendrick does respond I think he will postpone the deluxe album that way if he wants to do a release after the beef he can. Kinda like he did with Drake.
