the true spirit of rapala is in all their balsa minnows lures like the original countdown or floating minnow, the jointed also ect........they can't be compared with all "modern" plastic minnows.

Such a shame to see that massive pike dead! I've read that they are pretty good at self regulating their numbers through cannibalism as long as nobody kills off the big ones. As soon as you take out the large pike you end up with an explosion of jacks which then messes up the rest of the food chain. Culling pike can be a very bad idea!

The sad thing about your comment is i think the locals around my nearest river have even taken out the jacks 🤣 Fished about 4 miles each way since last october and not even had a single tap or follow. I have seen one dead pike around 8-10lb though much much further down river but the place is proper boat convention. There are so many boats moored that its not even worth treking all the way there (about 5-6miles) just to try and fish a small handful of spots between boats. This is the only time ive seen an actual pike too mind you. I've never seen a live one since i started fishing again. At least a seeing a dead one lets me know there are some in the area.

Hey fella nice to see you out fishing regularly again an posting em up here. Although I'm surrounded by decent waters I also fish my local cut almost daily , mostly cos I'm a bit lazy sometimes but these slow days are quite often the norm! You have to grind away at it and it can be laborious but as you know when the stars align there's no better feeling while wearing ya clothes , (barring possibly some class As ) The number of 20's I've had out my local pound since I've lived here I can unashamedly count on one hand and while I've fish tons of big fish waters and done really well the odd bigguns I've had from my local canal for some strange reason stick firmly in my head and mean a lot to me . Anyway..... The point of my comment, before I started waffling was I really like that you take care returning small fish !! I watch so many you tube vids where anglers chuck small fish back without a thought and I find it a bit sad to be honest! . Apart from the fact these tiny pike are really scale perfect and really , really pretty fish ( in miniature ) these are the fish that'll be crashing and destroying our lures in years to come and who knows, in ten years time it could be that monster fish that you never ever forget , so big yer chest up and keep looking after them mate, it's nice to see someone that gives a fuck !! Don't mean to paint one country's citizens for this type of thing, but when a certain eastern Europeans started appearing on our shores we found lots of things like this. Pike filleted carcasses on banks and in the shallows, it is heartbreaking all those loughs around me that I used to fish are now useless. Hopefully they will bounce back in a few years.

Jonas Wladimir This is the most densley populated country in europe. If people took fish to eat, there wouldn’t be any left. Furthermore, fie to the population size, out rivers and the wider eco system are in a terrible state as it is with pollution etc

I can't understand that either. But here in Germany you're supposed to kill every pike thats big enough so you probably have to see this every day here. That's so sad.

@@diepetrijunger5509 Nobodykills a fish and throws it back tho. That doesnt make any sense. German here too. My guess is that someone either caught it on accident, fishing for another type of fish, gets mad because he thinks the pike eats all his favourites and kills it off. Or someone was actually fishing for pike, the pike sucked it up too deep, no chance of survival and he killed it off but didnt take it with him because its too big.

I think if the person gutted the fish, they obviously intended to eat it. Otherwise, why go though all the trouble? If you hated the fish. You'd just kill it and chuck it back or throw it in the bush behind you for the local wildlife.

The big pike cud have died naturally with the recent low oxygen levels, then swollen and burst it's gut open, giving the gutted appearance. I've saw big dead bream the size of footballs

I'm from Minnesota and now live in North Dakota but I've always been big into pike fishing, a lot of people, mostly bass and walleye fisherman especially are ridiculous. Many of them will kill every pike they catch, just to kill it, and their logic is purely idiotic, and they have no ecological understanding. They think killing all the pike simply means more of the fish they want, and also bigger fish.

Sickening that some scum bag has killed that fish. We all know that a lot of people who now live in the UK eat pike but that size of pike wouldn't even taste right it's too big.Its just a total waste. They need to catch and fine these people with massive fines starting at £5000 minimum and also confiscate all their tackle, including what they might have at home. That include's dopey match anglers.
