Lyrics:
Good man, I'm a good man, food's on the table, working two jobs,
Ready willing and able check your name
I'm having fun, got no kids and I love the Lord, check your name
I'm a... never did time but maybe just once, check your name
And I puts it down, wanna see it twice, brother puts it down, check
How could you ever walk away, after all I've done for you
I feel like there's a knife in my back, babe
You might as well pull it all the way through

She realized how stupid she had been sleeping with other men, lying about abuse and realizing that she really had a good man! That was the reason why she cried it touched her heart!

This is such a powerful video. I have to say I disagree with other assessments here in the comments. I think that he tracked her down and gave her money not out of spite or any other negative emotion. The entire point of the song is about a man who takes his responsibilities to his family seriously. Dude walked up and gave her that money because he made a promise to take care of her, and despite who and what she turned out to be, she is still his obligation. She may not have taken her vows seriously, but he did. That act of selflessness made her fully realize the man she had, and what she had done to him. This is something that resonates with me very much right now.

According to Raphael, the song "depicts the situation where everything around the man might be bad, his job, friends, lifestyle but underneath it all, he is a good man." The music sets the tone for the video that brings the lyrics to life as a very dark and a bit twisted story. It presents the story of a woman who takes a good man for granted. The reason is unclear but we witness her carrying out several actions to make him appear bad, sabotaging the relationship. Regardless of what she puts him through, he doesn't allow her actions to stop him from being a good man and continues to do what he knows is the right thing to do. . . take care of his responsibility which is her. This is summed up at the end of the video when he gives her money that he worked so hard to earn. This song is universal can represent anyone who continues to put 100% in a relationship even though what he/she gets in return is disrespect, abuse, and/or neglect. Have you ever been in a relationship where no matter how hard you tried, how much you invested in it, it was never enough? You're left feeling like you've been set up because you can't possibly understand how you could be treated so badly when all you've ever done was try to be a good man/woman.

What gets me is the sheer number of people who blindly don't get the video and lyrics...clearly it's hand-in-hand. I'm a good man, I did whatever I could to provide for you. Yea I made hard sacrifices along the way that tarnished the love we once had, which you turned ya back on me...but I wanted to show you I still fight for our love to get better. If it don't work then, take this money I saved for us and remember that your next will never be a man like me...you'll regret that you didn't stick it out with a good man....

If you understand the lyrics it gets easier. Well, he IS a good man, never did anything wrong, is a normal, ordinary man, with two jobs. She doesn't like it, she wants somebody wealthy. He feels something is wrong, hence "the knife on my back" (or sleeping). She then decides to end it, putting him in jail. She smashes her face on the sink to simulate domestic violence. She starts the gold digging and seduces a man, having sex with him in order to live a good life (a white man, being a black couple, is symbolic here). He gets out of prison, borrow some money and goes to her, to state that he knows what is the goal of her life and why she incriminated him. And also that he CAN make money. Initially she runs away embarrassed, but seeing the money makes her cry with remorse and guilt. Sorry about the english, I'm brazilian.

The difference between a good man and a nice guy is a nice guy has an agenda, but a good man lives by a code. A nice guy gets mad when he realized he got played, but a good man only gets mad when he realize he is not appreciated.

Guys, keep being good decent men in this age where women seem to feel lost and think they can replace us by themselves… keep being good men in this age where there are transgenders and grown men who dress up and behave like 14 years old boys… lf your dad was a good man, follow his example, keep your dignity, stay proud, this world still and will always need good and real men.

This song hits home... I work 4 jobs, and all I ever wanted was just to provide for my lady and give her a life where all she had to do was be a woman.. I wanted kids and wanted her to be In position to where she didn't have to work and could be stay at home mother.. But she complained about me working too much and we broke up... This video has so much symbolism... The young lady with the men represents lack of intimacy..The guy represents men who take pride in being a provider but may lack that intimacy part but knows their heart is with their woman... But she doesn't see it that way, and venture out to find it elsewhere....
