I just bought Raphidophora Tetrasperma, it came with a porous soil inside a plastic pot. I am very new at this hobby, so please forgive me for basic questions.. I don’t want to kill them 😁 I keep the RT inside my apt, next to a balcony window, facing east. - How often should I water them? - Is 18cm diameter pot big enough? - Any recommendation in fertilizing them? (i.e how often, what brand). Thank you so much, love your videos!
@onlyplants3 жыл бұрын
How often you should water them depends on your temperature, light levels, humidity, airflow, potting mix used, pot size, pot type, and age of plant 😀 I would pay attention to their leaves and media to see about watering. The media need to be bone dry between watering. Dry crisphy leaves or droopy leaves would suggest underwatering. Yellowing leaves or excessive “sweating” of water from the leaves will suggest overwatering. Check out my fertilizer video to see some guide on fertilising 😀

Hi Seaaan!!! Rewatching your videos again and again on a sleepless night. 😅 I have a question I've been meaning to ask after hearing you talk about roots: What are your thoughts on root pruning rootbound aroids? For instance, when space is limited like small apartments and despite badly wanting to upsize a pot, would it be a bad decision to prune roots? Will this shock/kill aroids like the RT, MD, rare philos, etc? Let us know if you've experienced something like this 😅 I've been looking up to your videos the most and really love hearing about your insight. 😅🙏🏼

Hi Sophie, I don't know where you from, but in Germany they go fo 10€ -20€, and I had in 10 years no pests on it, and they can handle mostly everything. They can take full south sun if you water them enough, it grows very fast then, they survive in low light, but they get laggy then. And a interesting thing is, if you let some vines grow horizontal, you with time from the grow points new vines !!! And they get thicker then too. I propagate them allways in water, i just put them in water and forget about it, thats all, how more light you give the cuttings, how fast you get roots. Shipping works pretty good too. So I really would say give this nice plant a try, you will love it, I'm sure. 💚💚💚

Hello, first of all I leave my moss propagations out in the rain... so I must admit they are overwatered all the time and dont recommend to anyone to do this. You should only mist sphagnum moss and keep them on the dry side but humid and slightly damp as this is what will encourage the roots.

sean could you explain those node growth points a little more in detail? i bought a brasil cutting a month ago and just potted it up but there’s no new growth (only roots) and the petioles are flat, not round. does that mean they already put out that new shoot before and can’t again?

Hi sean. One question, do you soak the coco husk/chips first and dry it prior to propogation or do you use it straight?
@onlyplants4 жыл бұрын
I use them right away 😌

Then your plant needs more light.
@onlyplants3 жыл бұрын
Could be lack of light, or nutrients, or maybe it has severe root damage/pest attack.

I am not getting aerial roots. Maybe have to wait for humid weather in the summer?
@onlyplants2 жыл бұрын
Yeah they need a bit of humidity

Misting the bits where aerial roots come out from daily helps too (but do not mis leaves)
