Any concern that sitting silently and playing chess doesn't qualify as "good content" can be assuaged by the fact that we got a game like that out of it. Excellent stuff!

What I found interesting about this game was: 1) how safe Ben played. He moved his king so many times. 2) How he used his castle pawns to attack after moving his king into the corner 3) The ending was just an insane example of how black can defend and make a perfect comeback

Chess is comparable to mathematics in that the older you get the less great work you do, most chess players will hit a peak in their late 20s to early thirties then decline slowly. You can name exceptions, Mikhail Tal or Paul Erdős but in general age does play a significant part.

I feel like Eric absolutely THREW committing that hard to the tactical aggressive line with the rook attack when there were pretty direct ways to just pick up more pawns on the right side of the board and then just convert to a winning end game. Ben's decision to just concede the pawn when Eric called the bluff and realized that he couldn't actually trade off everything because it would be a winning end game for Eric, such a mature play by Ben just letting the pawn go, admitting he was wrong, and just calculating further Honestly I loved the silent match. It helped so much conceptualizing what's going on without commentary

im honestly surprised rosen isnt a GM by now- and i mean no disrespect by that at all- if anything i mean the opposite of disrespect- the man is a very very good player. someone like levy i can understand just because he kinda stopped playing professionally to focus more on his YT career and i dont blame him at all, but rosen i feel like still plays competitvely fairly often no? idk. either way great game and very talented players on both sides
